Took CRV into dealer due to engine oil smelling strong of gasoline. Was told they looked over the car and could not determined why and that the odor was normal. Was also told this is normal due to having a turbo engine yet told my VIN # falls into the effected "oil over full' issue and I have an extra year of power terrain warranty. To my knowledge, oil level was only slightly elevated. Nothing was done to remedy the issue, no service bulletin or oil change. CRV only has 19500 miles. No check engine light or running issues. Engine oil appears dirty yet onboard system states that oil life is at 50%.

The contact owns a 2017 Honda CR-V. while driving between 40-45 mph up a small hill, the vehicle lost power and failed to move. The contact also stated that the vehicle rode roughly and sounded as if it had a diesel engine. The contact drove the vehicle home. When the oil was checked with the dipstick, it was over the orange indicator line onto the metal and there was an odor of fuel. The contact called dch Honda of temecula (located at 26755 ynez rd, temecula, ca 92591, (951) 268-9197) and was advised to have the vehicle towed to their facility. The dealer was unable to detect the presence of fuel in the oil. The contact stated that when she purchased the vehicle a few weeks ago, the dealer changed the oil. The contact stated that the vehicle had been at the dealer almost two weeks and was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified and stated that they would speak with the dealer. If the failure recurred, the contact was instructed to take the vehicle back to the dealer. The approximate failure mileage was 5,000.

2017 Honda CRV- ex / stalling on freeway vehicle identification number ' [xxx] on May 29, 2018, my car which has 16,0000 miles on it, started making a horrible engine noise, cylinders misfiring, loss of power and stalled while on the 405 freeway, I began to panic due to fact I was in the fast lane. I started to smell gas in the passenger compartment while cars are streaming to halt to avoid a multi car pileup. I didn't know whether to get out of the car or stay in, that's when I saw an 18 wheeler barreling towards me trying to stop. This truck came 2 feet from rear ending me. I was to shaken to speak for 5 minutes because my life flashes in front of me. This is a safety issue and Honda should conduct an official recall. Does someone have to die before a recall take place? Honda's manager of recalls, brad ortloff, said oil in these engines could be diluted because of software settings or potential hardware failures. Some vehicles could experience a loss of power, leading to cylinder misfires or engine noise. In addition to those symptoms, consumers have reported that their engines stalled or that the vehicles experienced a sudden loss of power, raising safety concerns. During the past 6 months I've been having the following problems with my vehicle ' oil dilution, rising oil levels, stalling and loss of power and stalling. I understand that Honda motor company, ltd has recalled 350,000 Honda CRV's in china & Canada because of the same problem. I would like Honda to buy back my vehicle due to rising safety issues. Given that the problem is well documented, Honda has a responsibility to address these issues in an open and transparent manner. [xxx] cc: NHTSA cc: U.S. attorney general cc: Dept. Since purchasing the car two years ago, the oil level has increased and smells of gasoline, and the cabin has also on occasion smelled of gasoline. I complained to the dealership within the first week of owning the car, to no avail. I have complained each time I've brought it in for servicing, to no avail. I complained to the general manager of the dealership, who said he'd never heard of such a problem, when I had the car serviced on 5/14/19 (which included an oil change). A week later I checked the oil 'sure enough, the level has risen and it smells of gasoline. I have grave concerns: For my health and safety due to the oil dilution problem. I primarily drive short distances, which I understand increases the likelihood of oil dilution in the 1.5 turbo engine.

The oil in my engine is being diluted with gasoline. The dipstick never goes below full and the oil is thin and dirty. This is just 1 month after an oil change. Occasionally the gas fumes enter the passenger compartment and make driving the car unpleasant. Honda dealer says there is no problem. This is an ongoing problem. Date below is the last time gas fumes were inside the passenger compartment.

My car was in motion I was making a right turn into the highway when my car just stopped. I turned it off, when I tried to turn it back on, it didn't. I started to smell something burning. So I just left it alone. Only the lights on the dashboard and the radio turned on, I was able to control the windows. The warning lights that came up were the electronic power steering, charging system, and the check engine lights.

During oil changes, more oil was coming out than was being put in. Oil clearly smells like fuel. When I brought this to Honda's attention in early April, I was told to go to a certified Honda dealership to get a diagnosis. During the diagnosis done on 4/17/2019, they performed an oil change at 80% oil life which indicated that oil levels were elevated by approximately 1/4th of a quart. I can only imagine how diluted the oil would be at 10 or 15% oil life. According to my case manager and as stated in this paperwork, this is "normal". paperwork provided below with personal information redacted.

Fuel is making it's way into the oil system. Everytime I check the oil I can clearly smell gasoline on the dipstick. I know that Honda has recalled 350,000 crvs in china for the same issue with the same 1.5 turbo engines however, when I tell the dealership or Honda representatives about it they act as if it is an isolated incident. This will eventually cause premature wear on the engine and potentially become a safety concern if the engine were to stall at high speeds.

I own a 2017 Honda CR-V 1.5 turbo fwd and my vehicle is suffering from the affects of 'oil dilution.' I regularly have my oil changed by Honda, but I noticed, upon returning from a long trip in northern inidiana over winter, a strong odor of gasoline when checking my oil-dipstick and the volume was much higher than expected. When I brought my vehicle to Honda, I was advised that Honda was aware of a problem for all 2017-2018 CR-V 1.5 turbos with residual gas dripping into the cylinders and eventually the oil crank-case, called 'oil dilution'. I asked the Honda technician to check for gasoline in my oil, but they said no such test was available. He advised me that no fix currently exists, aside from more frequent oil changes. I then followed up with the lead technician at my dealer to resolve the safety concern, but I was verbally told that Honda does not intend to address the issue unless litigation is mandated. I believe this problem posses a major safety concern as these vehicles age and the risk of engine seizure or explosion increase. Honda North America's position is that since there are so few 2017 Cr-vs with turbo on the road, they do not see a reason to act. There is a fundamental problem with this Honda turbo fuel injection system, which was fixed for the 2019 models. A software patch is being issued by Honda Canada, but this is not offered in southern states and Honda refuses to comment on the long term impact and degraded performance. I am deeply concerned for the safety of my family and fellow drivers.

Oil dilution problem. Gas getting into oil. Honda "fix" did not work; same issue 300 miles after fix applied. Engine idling rough (especially during first start after sitting overnight), oil level rising in car, when you check the oil it smells like gas, fuel smell in cabin periodically, engine hesitating/stalling while trying to accelerate. Have visited dealership twice within 30 days for this problem with no resolution.

Car has been in motion and stationary when all dash lights come on, no systems work according to the dashboard. When dash lights with every single warning light comes on while driving, all power and acceleration is lost. This happened to me in an intersection the other day and luckily the CRV was able to coast to the side of the road where the CRV was unable to accelerate again until I turned the car off and back on. I have read numerous blogs with others having this issue. Vtm-4 pops up on the radio screen as a problem. Honda claims to have fixed this issue on the 2019 models yet no recall on 2017 and 2018 models? this loss of power and control of the vehicle is especially scary since I have 2 young kids that right with me daily. Cruise control won't work, remote start hasn't worked since this issue started around 60-70K miles. Honda needs to fix this major problem!

Smell of gas in the garage after leaving windows down. Then later noticed it again in the cabin 2-3 different times which my son was visiting at the time and smelled it in the garage again. He checked the oil and we could smell gas, I made an appointment with dealership on 1-8-19 was told there was no recall and mechanic couldn't smell gas on dip stick which I got the manager involved and he told me the problem is more so in the northern states were it's cold. He too said he couldn't smell gas but changed my oil ( which had already been changed recently)..was told nothing they could do unless oil light came on or started having engine problems or till a recall comes here. I haven't noticed the smell since warmer weather has come in. Love the car but scary when it comes to gas and the engine which "again" was assured wasn't a danger to me. I went for an oil change and the place said that the oil smelled like fuel, was very thin. In consumer reports there was a blurb about the Honda Cr-vs with the 1.5 turbo engine experiencing the mixing of gas in the oil but mainly in the colder, northern states. So, when the oil change people said the oil smelled like gas, I then drove to a Honda dealer and they checked it out, but said they didn't see gas in the oil, but I just had the oil changed so of course there wasn't signs of it. So, before my next oil change I will take it to Honda so they can see it.
