Vehicle is showing an unusual amount of gasoline entering into the oil that lubricates the engine. Have been reading about this issue at numerous sites and took it to dealer today who verified that the oil level has risen above the max mark on the dipstick and it does smell of gasoline. I have had no operational issues thus far but know this is not good for internal engine parts. I have approx. 4200 miles on the vehicle at this point. Dealer acknowledged the problem and documented it on the work order. They also changed the oil at this time. They indicated Honda is expecting to release some sort of solution in mid Nov and I would be contacted by either the dealer or Honda direct.

I smelled gas inside the cabin driving for short distance 2X in 4 days. This is first drive of the day and/or really short distances. Checked oil and it had a small hint of gas smell in it too. Took it to the dealer and they couldn't duplicate the problem and have nothing further to go on there. They said to keep an eye on it. Oil level was within limit. Only have 500 miles on it. The first time it was really cold outside (around low to mid 30S F). 2nd time around 45ish.

Purchased vehicle from fox Honda in grand rapids, mi on 8/14/18. Noticed gasoline smell on dipstick after 1000 miles. Checked again after 2000 miles and the gasoline smell is stronger and the dipstick registers well past full. The check engine light came on today 10/23/18 with a message "systems emission problem." Extremely disappointed in Honda.

-gas leaking into the oil confirmed by the local dealer. "approximately 1/2 quarters extra". -oil level is confirmed to be above the plastic indicator reaching to the metal part of the dipstick way above the normal level stated on the (owners manual). -oil smells exactly like gas confirmed. -fluctuating engine performance after 1000 miles of a fresh oil change due to the oil being diluted and not being able to preform its job as a lubricant. - attached, a picture showing the problem. ## VIN passed ## https://www-ODI.NHTSA.dot.gov/vehiclecomplaint/ ##

When I pulled out the dipstick to check my engine oil you could smell gasoline on it. There is gas mixing in with the oil. My vehicle was sitting in my driveway when I checked it. Took it to my dealer and they had me stand with them while he checked and you could smell it then also. They changed the oil and suggested it be changed every 5,000 miles instead of the called for 7,500 miles, until Honda releases a fix (supposedly mid November). They also informed me that Honda would not cover the extra oil changes. My car was at their facility October 8 and 9, 2018. I was told to check the oil every 1,000 miles and if I see the level above the normal reading to contact them immediately, or if I see my engine light come on. I am concerned about the life of the engine even after the fix is in place. I told both american Honda and the dealer that I have a trip planned in early November and I am very concerned about driving this vehicle any long distance, my concerns were with it stalling or just stopping.

This is an addendum to complaint number 11140475. Besides a maintenance issue of the oil dilution by gasoline leakage into the crankcase, as reported in that complaint, there is a safety issue with the gasoline mixing with the engine oil on the 1.5 liter turbo. There are raw gasoline fumes in the passenger compartment with the engine running in city traffic. This has caused headaches and nausea to children in the rear passenger seat and problems for the driver as well. The only source of the gas fumes appears to be the gas leakage into the engine.

PURCHASED THIS CAR FROM KEATING HONDA IN CONROE, TX. SINCE DAY 1 I HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH MY LCD SCREEN THAT CONTROLS THE AUDIO AND CLIMATE. ABOUT MID SEPTEMBER I STARTED HAVING ISSUES WITH IT SHUTTING OFF ALONG WITH THE LCD SCREEN BEHIND THE STEERING WHEEL THAT SHOWS HOW FAST I'M GOING. DEALERSHIP AWARE BUT HAD ISSUES WITH GETTING LOANER SO UNABLE TO DROP OFF FOR REPAIR. THE SCREEN WOULD FLICKER AND SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING OR "AUDIO ISN'T RESPONDING" ERROR SHOWS UP AND BOTH LCD SCREENS GO OUT WHILE DRIVING. I WOULD START THE CAR AND WOULD RECEIVE AN ERROR MESSAGE LIKE "ANTI THEFT SYSTEM: THIS SYSTEM HAS LOST POWER. PRESS THE POWER KEY FOR MORE THAN TWO SECONDS TO ENABLE THE SYSTEM"... PLEASE FIX YOUR [XXX]! I WAS GIVEN A WARNING IN CONROE BECAUSE I WAS SPEEDING AND UNAWARE OF MY SPEED DUE TO THIS ISSUE AND IT SEEMS TO BE A DAILY PROBLEM FOR ME. INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

Our new 2018 Honda cr-ex-L has the 1.5L turbo engine. After 1,012 total miles, the oil was more than a quart high and smelled of gasoline. I had checked the oil level when we received the vehicle new and it had been normal - between the upper and lower marks while cold. I could smell gasoline both on the rag and coming from the crankcase. I took the car to the Honda dealership and communicated the above plus I expressed safety concerns from the gasoline. The dealership contacted the regional Honda service rep and they decided to change the oil and filter as a temporary solution. Honda usa paid for the oil change and told the dealer that 'we know about the problem and are working on a solution but we do not have one yet.' Honda was unable to answer any of our safety related concerns. We asked about: Engine fire, fuel vapors in the passenger cabin, engine stalling, heater/defrost not working in winter, damage to the engine from fuel contaminated oil. All questions had no answer from either Honda usa nor from the dealer. After ~ 600 miles of additional driving, the problem is back as the oil is over-full again. It is looking like the oil will need to be changed every 800 miles of driving. We remain concerned about the health and safety risks of the vehicle due to the fuel accumulating in oil problem. We assume that the gasoline is accumulating in the oil during engine running useage of the vehicle; so injector spray is wrong rather than a fuel-line leak.

Gasoline smell in passenger cabin when driving car. Gas somehow leaks into engine crankcase and dilutes oil and causes oil level to be overfilled. This is a continuing issue, not just a single occurrence.

I purchased this 2018 CR-V AWD in January 2018. Now as of October 2018, after 10 months of ownership we are experiencing strong smells of fuel inside the cabin everytime we drive on a cold day. The symptoms are in line with the October 2018 consumer reports article on this known issue. I called my dealer on October 15, 2018 and they have noted that Honda knows of this issue and does not have a fix. Obviously this is a concern for a $30K+ vehicle and that myself and my young children should not be exposed to the smell of fuel everytime we drive the CR-V.

Gas dilution with engine oil causing raise of engine oil level over the maximum limit of dip stick. Also strong fuel smell is coming from the dip stick when pull over. So far no fuel smell inside the cabin. Drove only 800miles. Talked to the dealer about the issue on Oct 13 they said it is a known problem for cr V. they are waiting for the Honda manufacturer's fix which suppose to come on this November. No engine diagnose and oil change done.

Started noticing engine knocking in the first 500 miles. Vehicle only has 2,509 miles mostly freeway driving. Purchased April 2018. First drove it in April 409 miles round trip, and then again in may, same mileage and again in August. Only started driving it daily to and from work 16 miles round trip in September and it had 1600 miles. I then drove it on October 400 miles round trip and now I smell gasoline in car and it stalled on me while trying to make left turn in intersection. Also lights around mirror do not stay on. I don't think I should be smelling gas. Not sure what to do.

Fuel is getting into the oil causing dilution. My oil level has increased as a result of that and it can cause the oil to loose viscosity which won't make the oil as effective on the engine and can cause long term engine damage. This is happening in southern California. I had to get my oil change early at less than 3500 miles because the smell of oil and oil level increase was bad.

2018 Honda CR-V gas in the oil beware consumers.... I bought my 2018 Honda CR-V in July.... after months of research on what the best small SUV would be for me to have in my retirement. Media articles raved about this automobile.... consumer reports chose it as their SUV of the year.... it had this great 1.5 turbo engine that would get upwards of 27-33 mpg.... it was a complete package.... my dream retirement vehicle....... the dealer told my husband and I that oil needs to be changed every 7000 miles or so.... my husband is a meticulous mechanic... he checked the oil at 3000 miles and found it a quart high.... ( huummm... oil dies not increase.... and it reeked of gas..... gas in the oil" he started researching possible problems with the CR-V.... and things started to really sour.... usa Honda has apparently known about this issue with the CR-V for quite some time.... they have kept it under the radar.... in china there has been a recall on 350,000 CR-V's and they have stopped sales.... Canada has also acknowledged the issue... usa Honda is claiming it is a cold weather issue.... ( first off I bought it in July and secondly.... a car that doesn't work in cold weather???" what the hell is that.... an AWD vehicle at that!!!) Honda is searching for a solution.... there is no solution.... gas is seeping into my oil wrecking the engine as I write.... Honda needs to stop sales.... fess up and give me my money back or a new CR-V with the previously proven engine.... stay tuned! my husband feels owners out there are not aware yet because most don't change their own oil.... and also most do not have anywhere near the miles it will take to completely destroy this engine as he has indicated 'this CR-V with 1.5 turbo will never make 100,000 miles before it is destroyed...please do something to recall these disasters
