So the hood on my car looks like crap. It has missing paint all over it. It looks like crow's feet all over the hood. Some of the spots have started to rust. Took it to the dealership and was basically told there was nothing they could do because it's past warranty. The service manager also told me that it must have been worked on or painted and that's why it looks like that. I told him I had never been in an accident and no one has touched the paint on my car. He kept asking me like I was lying about it. I understand it's past warranty but it's not my fault they did a sh*tty paint job. I am still paying on this car and could not stand to drive it around in a year when the hood starts to rust. I thought Honda made great cars??? I will never ever buy a Honda again.

Civic EX 1.8L

  • Automatic transmission

Less than 4 years of ownership of a not so great Honda product. Big spot of faint paint developed on the roof of the car between the upper edge of the windshield and edge of the sunroof. Two additional more developed on the roof at a smaller size.

Dealership wants a 40% financial participation for a painting job. ($400). With less than that amount I can fix it anywhere else.

Very disappointed :(

The clear coat is discolouring and looks as though it will peel off - especially on the roof and trunk but also on edges of bodywork. It has slowly been getting worse for the past three years. I have estimates to repair the roof and trunk in the area of $1,600. My worry is that it will just get worse and eventually rust. It looks terrible.

This is the last Honda Canada product I will buy.

I didn't notice this until just now, but this is bad. How long until it's all falling off. I have already complained to the dealer about the paint about a month after I bought the car new and they told me that under no circumstances will Honda warrant "paint problems" Paint was flaking off the lower front bumper bad. I must scared them with talk of the local TV and newspaper getting to see this one month old car because they fixed it under good will warranty (with the dealers own cash, not Honda Canada)

Right when I received the car the warranty guy came out to look at specific areas of the car so I got nosy, asked what's up. He said there have been a few problem areas with the paint, but my car is good. Shortly after that all the areas that he looked at started to rust. Inside the trunk lid and in the front door window supports where there is a visible weld. It should be noted that this is a Canadian made Honda so this problem may not occur with US made models.

Paint started cracking on the hood and 2 front fenders in 2008. Took it to our dealerhip's service center. The manager came out and went over the car with a fine toothed comb. Gave me dirty looks and asked me 3 times if I was sure the car was never in an accident or repainted. I told him never and that the only service center that ever touched the car was theirs. Manager then asked me to get an estimate at a local body shop. I did so, and when I called him back 4 times, he was always "busy" or "not there today". I got tired of being blown off and called corporate telling them that I never wanted to deal with that jackass or that service center again and I expected them to take care of this problem now. They told me to take it to another service center and have them get the cracked areas repainted. I did so and the service center paid for it. My main concern was that the rest of the paint would go and I did tell corporate that. They said that because I called them and let them know about the paint while the car was under warranty, they would take that into consideration.

From what I was reading, this seems to be an issue with many Nighthawk Black Pearl Civics.

When using a pressure washer in a commercial car wash, paint peeled off the front bumper. Some additional paint has peeled off since that time. Dealer gave us a small paint repair kit. Whoopee! How wonderful. Aggravating, particularly when lumped with all the other problems we have had with this lemon..

after one year and no recall of a stone or anything ever hitting the driver's door, we have a rust spot the size of a dime! Paint must not be very effective! Back fender also crushed completely in upon a very gentle backing into a barrier (going 2 mph) -huge damage!
