Driving slowly while leaving my neighborhood, I heard a loud crack noise. That is when I discovered a long crack on my windshield on the drivers side. I had just made my first monthly payment and this happens. I went to look at the crack and it seems to show no signs of any object hitting the windshield. I take it to Poway Honda to get it checked out. A man checks it, and shows me this tiny chip in the window. Smaller than a grain of sand. Tells me that it can not be covered through warranty due to proof of an object hitting the windshield. I didn't argue and I left to do my research and found that other people are having the same issue. I really do hope this problem get solved .

I was driving on the freeway and without anything hitting the windshield it just cracked from the bottom center up about 4". I didn't even bother with the dealer since I knew they would just tell me something must have hit it.

OK, here's ANOTHER cracked Honda windshield. No impact, freezing weather, etc... it just cracked on the passenger side and now I'm watching it creep across, right to left.
I swore that this was my last Honda after suffering with Honda on the implosion of my AC compressor on my CR-V, but I guess there's always room for another annoying problem and even more indifference at the dealership. Want to be a service manager? Repeat after me: "Oh my gosh, I've never seen or heard of anyone else having that problem..."

I BOUGHT HONDA INSURANCE WHICH WOULD ONLY PAY FOR A SMALL CRACK.

Had the car 10 days when I noticed a 12 inch crack on the driver's side windshield. I do not recall having a rock hit but the dealer said that one did. It must not have been a hard hit or I would have remembered. Honda says they have never heard of this ... although plenty of posts on a forum on Edmunds.com says others have reported it. Not covered by warranty or insurance. Service manager says bad luck. I will annoy Honda daily over this. I have never had a cracked windshield. Interestingly, the Element has this issue too. Extremely annoying that this will cost me $$ when I have not even had a bill for my first car payment yet.
Update from Nov 17, 2010: After speaking to Honda USA last week when they said no one has reported this problem, I received a call from the service manager who said I had bad luck and he said their Honda rep told him to place my windshield for free. Let's hope the new one lasts longer than the old one.

Huge crack in windshield on drivers side 20 inches long. emailed Schofield Honda Wichita Kansas with problem. Sarcastic sales manager told me it was just karma and too bad for me. . Warranty and extended Warranty will not cover it. Basically I wasted time contacting the dealership for assistance. Who has a car for 3 weeks and the windshield get a large crack in it. My extended warranty is for 8 years. I just wasted my money on a worthless expense. I have never had a car in my life have a cracked windshield. I get my dream car and it is turning into a lemon.Let me know of other sites to alert everyone about Schofield Honda in Wichita Kansas

I have had a spontaneous crack show up on the windshield of my 2010 FIT. It started from the bottom of the window, toward the driver's side, and is curving across the windshield. There was nothing that made this happen (no chips, rocks, etc.).
The ironic thing is that I had a similar thing happen to a newer model Subaru. When I took it to the dealer, they were aware of the problem. It is still under warranty and will be replaced. They said it happened on a number of vehicles because of the placement of the heater in the area where the window started cracking. They weren't recalling all vehicles, but were replacing those that crack.
I have a feeling that my FIT problem might be similar to the Subaru, but the auto dealers are handling it quite differently. Honda says, "Never heard of it." Subaru said, "We'll take care of it."
