On 2/8/2019 an update for the knock sensor was done on my vehicle. On 2/18/19 I was driving up a steep hill on a highway when my vehicle lost power upon acceleration. I was unable to go faster than 17 mph uphill and 50 mph on level highway (speed limit is 70 mph). It was 16 degrees F and I had an infant in the car. I was told by the dealership it is likely due to the update done on the knock sensor and to drive it to their dealership. I did not feel it was safe to drive any further than necessary so I had it towed (I had to pull over constantly because the speed limit is 70 mph). The dealer ran a diagnostic and it came back it needs a new engine. The current engine only has approx. 14,500 miles on the odometer. The dealer requested a new engine from Hyundai but it has not been approved yet and they believe it is a result of the knock sensor update. They estimate I will not have my vehicle repaired for at least 3 months. The dealer said they are having several other vehicles of this same make, model and year come in for the same problem. It was very hazardous having a vehicle unable to accelerate in winter with an infant in the car. I was in a remote area and this could have had the potential for a much worse outcome than it did.

Check engine light comes on and testing shows 3rd cylinder has as fuel-oxygen imbalance. Has happened twice. Light went off the 2nd time. Brand new car. It happened at 2,500 and 5,000 miles. Had it checked by Hyundai the first time and they didn't see any other problems, chalking it up to a malfunction. Someone told me it could be a bad fuel injector; bad sensor; or a miscalibration of the engine/fuel injector

This is a new car with less than 1200 miles purchased February 2018. Experienced several issues the past 6 weeks where the car fails to accelerate when turning a corner. This has happened with both right or left turns to enter traffic from a full stop. Unresponsive for 1-2 seconds then engages with a bit of a jolt. Scary in that I do not know if the car will move forward as traffic is approaching. Driving very defensively now. This problem has happened from a straight forward dead stop. Have seen other issues of this type on line. Dealer not contacted as seems to be a manufacturers issue. Pointed this out in an on-line survey from Hyundai and no response as yet.

I have just purchased my Santa Fe sport 2.0T ultimate 4 days ago and while driving home today from work traffic was a stop and go. Car drove fine for about a mile in this traffic (I drive a total of 16 miles a day to and from work), then I tried to go after stopping and there was a big hesitation in the acceleration. The car went to 8 mph then felt as it had stalled and I almost was hit, thankfully my car started going. It did this twice in less then ten minutes and both times I was almost hit. I was on a highway during after work 5:30 rush hour traffic when this happened. This has made me not want to drive my new car I am paying for.
