We were driving down the highway doing 65-70 mph we the the engine just stopped out of no where. I am glad we weren't hit by a semi and killed.we made it to the shoulder and call usaa. The car was towed home then to the dealership the next morning because of it being a Sunday. I waited all day, then I called them seems the engine had seized, they weren't sure why. They sent it into Hyundai and eight days later I still haven't gotten an answer.

I took my car in to the hyundia dealership for a recall for heavy oil consumption; they told me the catalytic converter went out because it was clogged, I told them if it was clogged it was due to the oil loss that made it way into the catalytic converter. The hyundia corporation refused to fix the engine or catalytic converter.

After having the car serviced and any applicable recalls done and being told our car was safe and did not need an engine replacement, in May. In September are car begin to knock in the engine compartment we went and it needed the engine to be replaced put in another engine and it wouldn't work so they had to put in another. So even after our car was cleared by one Hyundai facility it still needed two engine replacements. Immediately after the car was returned the air conditioner begin to fail because of something during the engine replacement. Hyundai has been less than forthcoming and very difficult about getting all this fixed correctly. We are still attempting to get Hyundai to correct whatever was incorrectly done. The car was obviously in motion at the time.

The contact owns a 2013 Hyundai Sonata. While driving approximately 30 mph, the contact heard a clicking noise coming from the engine. The contact stated that the vehicle began to shake when the engine was started. As time went on, the vehicle began to lose acceleration, the rpms decreased, and the vehicle lost power. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the engine failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 103,000.

I purchased my vehicle from CJ auto loans and financed through credit acceptance back in October of 2018. I was not informed from neither credit acceptance nor CJ auto loans that the car had a engine recall. In June of 2019 the car would not start or turn over after being parked at a friends house. I got the car towed to my mechanic where he informed me that the car engine ceased. When I purchased the car I also purchased a vehicle warranty. The warranty came to look at the vehicle and informed me that they could not fix the car. But, I was never informed from the warranty company that the engine had a recall for the make year and model of the car. I have lost lots of money and even was was forced to do a voluntary repo.

I was driving my car home from work and all of a sudden my car jerked and the RPM guage went to zero and the air conditioner stopped and the loss of traction light came on upon killing the car and restarting it it drove fine with no problem. Took it to dealer to inspect and to check and fix recalls and was told that they changed the oil for the recall on my vehichle and they could not find anything wrong with car since it was not acting up at that time. Week later it done it again and took to dealership to check and was told it came with code for crankshaft sensor and 10 minutes later was told that was not the problem it was a faulty ECM and replaced it. A week later done the exact same thing and they could not find anything wrong after keeping it for a month. Took the car to another auto mechanic and was told they could not figure out what was wrong with car unless it was acting up. Now here I am driving a car that will act up occasionally and now it seems that it getting worse when I stopped and started up a hill it sounded like metal on metal clanging and have very suspicious feeling it has something to do with the gdi engine recall but cant get anyone to figure out what it is since it's so hard to drive a car acting up in city limits when it does not want to go unless you got the gas pedal to the floor. Unsure if it is recall or something else and dealership dont know how to fix

About 3 weeks ago around 6am I was driving to work while on the highway when suddenly the check engine light pop up and the throttle pedal went down and it won't pedal or move no more. Didn't know what was going on until my car was towed the dealership place where I was told is a recall. Two weeks after I was called that my car is ready and good to go but unfortunately before the car got to my place the check engine light is back on and the accelerator pedal don't move normally again, when you are on motion and you try to change lane or overtaking the pedal won't move until you force it with pressure and if you happen to be at traffic lights the same thing will happen, the car don't move normal again. I took it back to the dealership and explain what happened to them again and they took the check engine light off that it should be fine after but alas the problem is worsening day in day out and my safety is on the line now. Initially I was told they are going to replace the engine but I realized they didn't replace the engine instead some parts were replaced and that makes it worse than before. Driving the car now is at the high risk for me or other road users because I don't know what could happen next. The check engine light is still on and the pedal still not moving well and especially when you are moving uphill. Please I will like this to be investigated because I don't if other people have experience similar problem.

Sonata

I was driving down a city street when all of a sudden my 2013 Hyundai Sonata stopped on me. It was like the engine cut off, all the car lights came on--the check engine light, eps light, etc. All the lights came on at once and the driving wheel locked on me, it was extremely hard for me to turn the wheel at all. I was pressing on the acceleration pedal because the car was stopping in the middle of a city street where other cars were passing by me. However, I was unable to accelerate or press on the brakes on the car, I was able to coast the car to the side of the road. Once the car was on the side of the road, I tried to crank the car back up with no luck. I was able to get the car "on"--as in being able to listen to the radio but the car would never fully turn over. When trying to get the car to crank up I began to notice smoke coming from engine and a spark coming from the engine would light up a little every time I tried to get the car to turn over. I also noticed that the hood of the car also smelled like burnt metal when I was able to get the car on the side of the road even before I tried to restart my car after it cut off on me. The engine completely stopped on me in the middle of the road. All my maintenance and services with my 2013 Hyundai Sonata were up to date. I had got my car serviced less than a month ago before this happened to me, the engine seized. After repeatedly trying to start the car with no luck. I had to call aaa to come and tow my car.

While driving along a major roadway at 60 mph, the vehicle simply shut off and much of the lights such as check engine, etc lit up. I lost all power and brakes and coasted to a side street. The car would not start again and began heavy smoking. I had it towed to my mechanic who stated the engine had locked up. There were no warning signs, check engine light, or any other indication there was a problem.

Purchased used 2013 Hyundai Sonata hybrid on 1/18/2019. On 5/22/19 had oil changed & requested diagnostic due to accelerator issues and hitting high speed bump. Same issue occurred along with car not starting on 5/28 and brought car to dealer on 5/29/19. Dealer could not repeat issue but replaced batteries in both key fobs. Drove car to ct (from nc) on 7/12/19. Car was fine except the A/C was not cooling well. Turned car off & let sit for 10 mins. It was better. On 7/18/19 my 17 yo was in motion on busy interstate 91 South in ct. Car decelerated & alarms rang out. A warning advised "hybrid battery failure" & "safely pull over". she was able to drive to the side. Highway safety patrol came & advised her to start car again. Lights came on but engine would not. Had car towed to lia Hyundai in enfield, ct. Called 7/19, left message rtc. I asked for manager who advised the same & said he would have to run a diagnostic to see what was wrong. I called Hyundai motor America & got a ticket number. Was told that if it was the battery they "may be willing to pay and may be willing to tow car back to nc once completed" again if approved. Need tech to submit a work order req and special tow request if prior authorization was approved. On 7/22 a diagnostic was ran & sent to hma showing hybrid battery needs to be replaced. I called hma & was given a national team ticket. Service manager rich called on 7/29 advising Hyundai is requiring more tests & wants pictures. He called back to advise that Hyundai is now telling him to just replace the safety plug & relay switch. Advised Hyundai would pay 60% and we would need to pay 40%. cost was $1000 but part needed to be ordered. Can't guarantee that it will work. I spoke to nicolette on 7/29. Was told they would only pay the 60% as a good will gesture. Car purchased in January 2019 at 96610 miles & only drove till 104513.
