Sonata & Santa Fe sport engine recall / Santa Fe & Sonata engine control module service campaign. My car was previously recalled and serviced for both these issues in 2015 & 2017. Both issues relate to the same problem. I have recently experienced these issues again for the past month. 1)a knocking noise from the engine that increases in frequency as the engine RPM increases. 2)reduced power and/or hesitation. 3)illumination of the check engine light in the instrument cluster. When contacting Hyundai to notify them of this problem they stated that this had already been taken care of and they are unsure they can consider this a recall or service issue again. I would still have to pay the diagnostic fees and service fees if needed even though they have already seen this issue has occured on their part previously.

While driving on the single lane toll lane of mopac expressway in austin Texas during rush hour I ran out of fuel even though the fuel indicator showed approximately 1/4 tank of gas. I called 911. The firemen can vouch for the fuel gauge reading. I was lucky that no one was hurt from the incident. I contacted Hyundai and was told there was no recall on the fuel level sending unit. I believe this is a serious public safety issue.

I have taken my car in to the Hyundai dealer three times for service to and they have been unable to recreate the problem or diagnose the problem via a code. I had the transmission fluid replaced thinking that might originally be the problem. The car hesitates in lower gears when it is in ev mode and will rev at higher RPM before slamming into gear when it goes into gas engine mode. When coming off the highway and decelerating it will slam hard into gear as the car brakes and goes into ev mode. It is not consistent and every time the car is brought into the dealer they claim there is nothing worn with the car and they cannot duplicate the issue. When pulling out from a stop sign in ev mode there is absolutely no power some times and all of sudden the gas engine will kick in and accelerate. I have had other issues with the hybrid battery just shutting down on the highway so it concerns me that there is more of an issue that needs to be addressed.

I was driving on a city street and all of a sudden with no prior warning at all, several lights popped up on my dash alerting me of an issue and my car just shut completely down. I immediately pulled over concerned it may be due to the engine recall. I had no issues with the car and never had any indicator lights on the dash light up at all ever. It turned out my fuel in tank pump needed to be replaced. I am still shocked that this happened with a 2013 model car. I am very curious if there are a lot of other people who have had this same issue. I had a Toyota Camry 2002 for many years and other older model cars and never had to replace a fuel in tank pump. I was quoted $750+ to replace the fuel pump. But this could've have been a very dangerous situation for myself and others, if I had traffic behind me and in front of me. Someone would have easily hit me not being able to have enough warning to stop.

Sonata recall on April 14, ,2017 driving at 65 mph on I 75 my engine exploded and I successfully was able to maneuver to the shoulder. I ha be subsequently been sent a recall from Hyundai about this dangerous defect that they have been aware of for over 18 months. However the destruction does not end there. Hyundai motors of North America replaced the blown engine with a new model engine and after I had been driving the vehicle again for 36 hours and under 300 miles...the new engine caught on fire totally destroying my vehicle again due to my dilgence and the cincinnati fire department we were able to extinguish the fire with damage to other people or property. Hyundai has serious quality control issues. The car was on 4 th street in downtown cincinnati when the fire broke out.

I was driving 65 mph on the garden state parkway southbound in the middle lane returning home from yankee stadium. Without any warning my car lost all power and was barely able to pull the car over to the shoulder of the highway avoiding several cars traveling at highway speed. Seven weeks later I am still awaiting car repairs from circle Hyundai in shrewsbury NJ and a cost of over $400. My engine failed with barely 20,000 miles.

While driving the car on a highway in the passing lane, I abruptly received a warning of "hybrid emergency safely pull off road" "do not drive". I had no other warnings and the car gave me no time to pull off the road and it just shut down. The car would not start again and I was stuck in the passing lane on a very busy highway.

Takata recall" as I was parking car jerk forward, engine revived, car accelerated like a bullet, brake failed. (I had brake job prior to this incident) I jumped the curb and ran over smaller trees. As I was headed toward busy highway not being able to stop until my husband put car in neutral. The next day I had taking the car to the mechanic and had front end repair done, but mechanic could not find the reason why it happened. Thursday, April 20, 2017, as I was going to park the same thing happened again that the car jerked forward, engine revived up, car accelerated at high speed like a bullet on its own with no assistance or warning and brake did not work. I am going to go and get it checked out again, but I am to afraid to drive it because it does it without warning. Car does it by itself.

Car has begun randomly and unpredictably "stalling" while in motion. Just simply stops moving forward for a few seconds, not responding to gas pedal. This has been both as car starts from stopped position as well as during cruising. Because most of our driving is city, we do not know if car will stall at highway speeds and we are afraid to drive on highways now. Hundai will not attempt any repair because they cannot document the problem. We feel it is either a bad computer or a transmission issue. No repairs have been attempted even though we have been into hundai several times

The gas pedal and the brake are very close to each other on this car. It is very easy when viewing blind spots during backing to accidentally have the foot depress the brake and the gas pedal at the same time. I had this happen to me so far 2 times.

I am unable to access the Hyundai blue link software which controls remote start, engine stop, vehicle tracking and othet items. Hyundai dealer and Hyundai motor Corp refuses to do anything making nthis vehicle and any others with the same feature a hazard. If someone hacks into my old emailaccount they can remotely start the car in our garage killing us, or remotely start and unlock the dorrs anywhere and there is nothing we can do. These vehicles should be recalled immediately and the corporate executives who have allowed this to continue be brought up on criminal charges. The car is also equipped with summer only tires in the midwest? unsafe to drive in any cold weather with snow or ice.
