The glass sunroof exploded for no reason.. I was driving 9/5/18 about 5pm, no one in front of me, nothing overheads, and I heard a loud sound (like a bullet) didn't see anything around me, the windshield looked fine, but the glass sunroof had shattered. Thank goodness the inside roof liner was closed and the shattered glass did not fall on my face or into my car.

I went to drive my car to work Friday morning 6/27/2018 and it was dead. My husband had my battery tested, they said it was low so we bought a new battery and it worked. Car ran fine for the night and next afternoon, then out of the blue my car stalled and wouldn't start again ( 6/28/2018) I had to jump it. It started right away no problems, noises etc. I went ahead and drove it to our mechanics place across town (approx. 2-3 miles) for them to look at on Monday. As we were getting out of the car (it was turned off and parked) we noticed smoke coming from under the hood and then very quickly flames. When I drove the car those 2-3 miles there was no strange noises or sounds coming from engine. We called fire department. This happened 07/28/2018. And my car has been seen by the insurance company and is totaled.

My brake lights continuously burn out forcing me to replace them. I've had to replace them 4 times now in the last 4 years. I'm not certain how long I'd be driving without one brake light or both at any time. I've researched online with other complaints with the same issue with models 2011-2014 that I've noticed. Ironically, my mother's 2003 Hyundai Sonata's brake lights are now out too and who knows how long she's been driving like that. She recently took her car into the shop for routine maintenance and I imagine that they so a 20+ point check even when I take my car into the shop (coastal melbourne) for an oil change. I know this is typically for safety-related issues, but it's a risk in my opinion that cars behind me are not indicated that I'm braking.

Was driving on the expressway, going 55 mph approaching my exit, when my 2013 Sonata gls began to shake, my eps light illuminated and the car stopped on me completely, then all my indicator lights popped on as the car began to just coast with limited steering ability. Luckily I was on my exit and coasted it downhill to a residential block. Tried jumping it thinking it was a battery problem and even replaced the battery. Vehicle still wouldn't turn on. Contacted Hyundai after this because my vehicle only had 65,000 miles on it.

The contact owns a 2013 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that the vehicle started to vibrate while driving after being repaired per NHTSA campaign number: 17V226000 (engine and engine cooling). The vehicle was remedied at rick case Hyundai (441 w sunrise blvd, plantation, fl 33311) by replacing the engine. The vehicle was then taken to another dealer (coconut creek Hyundai, 4960 sr 7, coconut creek, fl 33073) because engine oil was found in the coolant system. The vehicle was not repaired at the second dealer. The manufacturer was notified and opened case number: 11033831. The failure mileage was 71,872.

Sonata

  • 139,000 miles
My 2013 Hyundai Sonata has been at the dealership since July 22, 2017. The problem can be best described as my car reacting as if I was flooring the gas pedal when I was only driving about 30 mph. The car would rev between 3- 4 RPM while accelerating slightly at slower speeds. The dealership immediately diagnosed it as a transmission issue. At the time I had just under 139,000 miles on the car. Seven months later, I still have not received any of the documentation on what has been attempted on my vehicle but I've been told the following has occurred to no avail: 'two remanufactured transmissions have been installed 'the electronic control unit (ECU) reset and reprogrammed manually 'a new ECU was installed due to the original ECU being a California state compliant computer not matching the 48 state parts of the rest of my vehicle. 'several mapping sensors have been replaced 'unspecified brackets 'several different mechanics at the dealership have looked at the car 'Hyundai motor Corp has also flown an engineer out to look at the vehicle it has become clear to me after purchasing a new 2013 Hyundai Sonata and following the vehicle maintenance schedule that Hyundai is not capable of diagnosing or fixing the problem. Hyundai's inability to diagnose this issue has confirmed my suspicion that this is a manufacturer's defect that needs to be investigated.

Sonata

  • 60,000 miles
On 5/24/2016, my vehicle unexpectedly accelerated while in the reverse position. I was reversing into a parking spot when the engine revved and flung me forward into a brick wall. Luckily no one was hurt and distance between the parking spot and the wall wasn't far but it caused a lot of damage and unfortunately my crooked insurance never totaled it. Now since then I've dealt with nothing but problems and I still believe that the issue that caused this has not been fixed. My car won't start unless I push the brake and put car in neutral and back into park before it starts. I've had it at the dealership countless times. Replaced a starter. Fixed the radiator again. Now I'm about to go and tell the dealer to fix the inhibitor switch or neutral safety switch. I'm not made of money and I need my car for work and now I'm stuck with financing and I can't get rid of this death mobile. My insurance has increased because they blamed me for the accident but I know I didn't do that. I have a good driving record and am not one of those people who mistake the gas for the brake.

I received a letter regarding about safety recall 160, regarding front seat anchor and extended warranty txx7, for motor driven power steering coupling.I also want to mention that the car has has had a weird "clan noise" that I think comes from the near when it is in motion or sometimes even after it is parked. I have taken the car 2 times for this to be checked, but apparently, they don't know what it is, because it is happening, every time more noticeable.I worry that this could be a dangerous making the car to malfunction. I wish this matter could be solved.

Vehicle does not recognize either key fob and will not start just goes into accessory mode. When placing foot on brake pad it is extremely hard. Yet every time we let vehicle drift down our driveway and get level it starts no problem. We are worried when our daughter is driving the vehicle it won't recognize the key fob and shut down. It has happened at least 5 times
