2016 Tucson limited with 1.6 turbo engine. I have had recent problems with the car bogs down or seem to cut of when I accelerate from a stop or very low speed. This has happened when I am trying to merge in traffic from an off ramp, pulling out of a parking lot and trying to get in another lane in traffic from a stop. As soon as I pressed the accelerator the car would stop as if the engine ha cut off. I have to try to manually downshift to1st gear or switch to a sport mode for the car to respond. In heavy traffic trying to merge from an off ramp or change lanes or even leaving parking lots to merge on highway. This has occurred quite frequently and I have some very narrow mishaps with cars slamming on their brakes to avoid running in to me. I am a very experienced driver who has driving professionally for over thirty years including tractor trailers with many safety awards. It is only because of my experience that a serious accident has been avoided so far. Each time this has happened I reported it to the dealer service department and asked if there were any recalls or service notices and have had no recourse this seems to be getting worse over the nearly two years I have the car. I am afraid to let my wife drive the car for fear that she might be involved in a serious or worse accident. The dealer has only told me not to drive in eco mode any more, I have done every thing they ask including using premium gas, more service driving in different modes. I have driven many different types of vehicles, cars and trucks and have never had this problem with a new vehicle and the service tech has no idea what to do.

No acceleration from a stop, rolls back when at a stop of any incline, lunges forward after a stop since the transmission is not working properly. In every mode it does the same, they did a software update a few months ago, but it did not help at all. My daughter goes to college out of state and is always very nervous about driving her car. I am nervous as a parent so far away. This is very dangerous and they need to fix it. The car has been in 3 times to note it in the file, when she gets back this may we are hoping to have it bought back for something else. When in traffic, the stalling is even worse. She has almost hit cars in front of her since there is so much hesitation in the engine and transmission.

My car turned off twice while driving with no indicators lighting up. I was going to take it for oil change closer to my work; but had to pull over the vehicle started to knock again no indicators came on. I finally get to a dealership for Kia and agent told me they had to check for recalls on the engine because past cars like 2014,2015,2016 all had engine trouble. Then told me engine is knocking and I should park it to avoid further damage. I told him but car is only a year old. Bought it in 2016 brand new; but because of my negligence of getting the oil change on time; I have to cover my own repairs.---again no indicator telling me its out of oil or running hot came on.

When starting from a complete stop or stationary, the car hesitates, almost seems to choke, and then lurches forward with a burst when trying to enter into traffic. It is hard to anticipate whether it will move or not when trying to pull out into traffic from a stop sign. Once moving the car seems to operate and accelerate without any problem. This issue was noted in an earlier recall (August 2016). A software "fix" was implemented. Immediately afterward, I felt there was some small noticeable positive change. However, any early indication of improvement has now been lost. It is deeply concerning that the car may choose to go or not when trying to pull out into traffic. This happens extremely often - almost daily. While I selected a date of occurrence below, it was only to satisfy the form's requirements.

I had taken my tuscon in 3 different times for all the same issues every time (1) delayed acceleration from a complete stop while crossing oncoming traffic with my 2 yr old son in the car (2) not accelerating at all from a complete stop but the RPM's revving high before finally jerking into gear and taking off and (3) jerking when I am in traffic and I press the gas. All 3 times, the "repair" was explained to me as a "computer update". the car would drive fine for about a week, then the issues would resume. The service dept told me this is how the dct works. Then I saw that there was finally a recall being issued and I thought "oh yay! they finally figured out what the problem was so I can take it in this one last time and I'll be good to go!" after only one day we were back to the same issues. The service dept once again said that "unfortunately, computer updates will be a normal thing for this dct system" are you freakin' kidding me"! this is not normal! you mean to tell me that every time my car starts stalling while I am crossing oncoming traffic, potentially causing an accident that could cause my son, myself or someone else serious injury, if not death, that I need to bring it in for a "computer update"?" they also suggested that I try driving it in sport mode all the time or using the manual shifter to see if that would help with the hesitation and/or stalling and jerking. If I wanted to shift, I would have bought a manual. When I press the gas, I want to go. I don't want to worry that this might the time that the transmission doesn't quite engage in time while I'm crossing traffic and something serious/fatal happens. I am extremely unhappy with this car, I am extremely unhappy with the dealership and their passive attitude towards this ongoing issue but most of all, I feel extremely unsafe in this vehicle and no one seems to be taking that seriously.

Lack of professionalism and courtesy on Hyundai's part to retract this vehicle is astounding. I'm unsure how there is a 5 star safety rating on this unsafe vehicle. Hyundai has refused to repair my vehicle. Every time it has been seen and "fixed" it comes back worse than it was before. The lag is substantial, it jerks constantly, I can't accelerate when already in motion or stopped in traffic, or even moving out of a parking stall. I am typically in the middle of an intersection when lagging and no acceleration occurs, and all too often I'm already in motion on the interstate and can no longer move. A light came on and said the transmission was overheated twice as a brand new vehicle just going 3mph. My car then died, luckily I was pulled over when I noticed the light. These constant issues I've been having have been since the date of purchase on July 8, 2016. It only had 50 miles on the vehicle at that time. I get regular maintenance and take care of this vehicle, but I can't handle the stress of driving it anymore! every time I submit a claim on here, no one reaches out to resolve this issue. I've spoken with Hyundai national and regional offices, Hyundai service locations, and the BBB. What will it take for you to see that this vehicle is a real danger, not only to me, but to everyone on the road!"!?!?!"!

The contact owns a 2016 Hyundai Tucson. After attempting to accelerate from a stop, the vehicle failed to accelerate and lost power. The vehicle then jerked forward. The vehicle was taken to shortline Hyundai (100 havana St, Aurora, co 80010) where the dealer stated that they updated the ECM software, which should repair the issue. The failure recurred several more times and the vehicle was taken back to shortline Hyundai each time where the software was updated again; however, the failure continued. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and provided a case manager, who failed to assist. The VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 16V628000 (power train, electrical system). The approximate failure mileage was 1,000. Updated 11/01/17

Upon releasing the brakes after a stop, the vehicle starts to roll and immediately starts jerking violently while applying the throttle part way. On an incline, flat, or decline it doesn't matter. Once the vehicle is in motion and picking up speed it seems to be okay. It just seems to occur from a stop or very low speed.

We currently lease the 2016 Hyundai Tucson fuel cell. On multiple occasions there has been a sudden and sporadic loss of power during normal driving operation. Most recently, while traveling approximately 70 mph on a ca fwy the car lost about 90% of its power without warning bringing max speed to less than 15 mph! occupying the car pool lane at the time, we had to navigate 6 lanes of speeding traffic within moments in order to bring the vehicle to a safe position. Once safe we immediately called the Hyundai support line included in our lease with this "test" vehicle only to receive inconsistent information and the runaround. Now, it has been over two weeks and we know nothing more about what caused this sudden and abrupt loss of power that could have let to a violent accident (if not for our quick and controlled response). This vehicle has less than 24,000 miles yet Hyundai and their anaheim ca dealer not only cannot figure out the issue but cannot guarantee us that the issue will not reoccur without warning in the future. Making this vehicle unsafe for operation!

The Tucson lurches and hesitates when in stop and go traffic, driving at a reduced speed (I.e., in residential neighborhoods) or when trying to accelerate from a complete stop (I.e., red light turns green). Several times, I've been stuck in an intersection for 5 - 10 seconds trying to get my car to go and complete a left hand turn. I've experienced lurching during residential neighborhood driving. I'll be going 25 mph, and come to a stop sign. I stop, and when I depress the gas pedal, the car does nothing. About 5 - 10 seconds later, it will lurch forward. Whenever it begins accelerating after a hesitation or lurch, the rpms skyrocket to 5 - 6K. This happens whether I press the gas pedal to the floor in desperation, or I'm gradually depressing the pedal. The lurching is so bad and so apparent that my passengers complain about it. They think I'm doing it on purpose. I've complained about this behavior to Hyundai since day one of owning the car. They've even sent engineers to monitor the engine and ride with me while I drive it. I know 5 - 10 seconds doesn't sound like a long time, but when you're trying to turn left and traffic is approaching from the other direction, it's a nightmare.

This vehicle has been serviced numerous times regarding the past two recalls. Updating this vehicle is not what it needs. This vehicle needs to be replaced completely. I cannot accelerate from a stop, when I'm in motion, or from a slow speed on any highways, interstates, city streets, etc. This vehicle does not want to move. Also, now given all of the issues I've been having with this brand new car, the air conditioning and brakes are fading in and out. So all of the issues I've had with this brand new car include but not limited: Lack of acceleration, stalling, dual clutch transmission, air-conditioning, braking, and radio/bluetooth/cd player will not always work. I submitted a lemon law complaint through the BBB and spoke with Hyundai Consumer Affairs. This is possibly my third or fourth complaint online with this heinous vehicle. It's unsafe for anyone looking to purchase!!!! it's jerky and will launch you once it finally decides to accelerate and then I'm at a standstill once more. This vehicle has a mind of its own and I can't believe that a dealership would sell a defunct car to someone. Maybe unknowingly, but now I have to jump through hoops and find other modes of transportation just to get to work and back. Unreliable, unsafe, unreasonable for the cost, and I'm not willing to do anything else with this vehicle. Hyundai needs to make this recurring and substantial issue right with this unhappy customer. Let's just hope the regional office will find a solution and pay off the rest of this car. I shouldn't be terrified every time I get into my car to drive with my baby because I know one of these times, we will get hit. Pretty sad to be sitting in the middle of an intersection and I can't move and other people won't move for you. The likelihood of getting hit... 99%. please make this right.

I have submitted complaints and claims on this vehicle more than twice now and have taken it into the dealership almost 10 times! I'm still having the same exact issues I've had before just a month after purchasing this 2016 (brand new) car last year! the acceleration still staggers and I can't move from a stop, slow down, or when I'm already in motion on the highway, on city streets, county roads, and the interstate - not my idea of a safe car when that's why I bought it in the first place! it stalls and the rpms and everything on the odometer drops to almost zero. Take back this awfully made vehicle! it's extremely unsafe and "updates" aren't permanently fixing the issues. Stop giving it a band-aid "fix" and just take this car back. Lemon law. Lemon law. Lemon law. I don't want it. When there's on-coming traffic and I can't move, how am I suppose to stop someone from hitting me with my baby in the backseat!"!?!" I can't. because I can't make this car move.

I purchased a brand new 2016 Hyundai Tucson. About a month later, we started experiencing a problem with the vehicle. While accelerating, the car seems to lose power and stalls. Then all of a sudden, the power kicks on and causes the car to jolt. This happens erratically and at least 2X per month. It's incredibly dangerous, especially when it happens while I am in an intersection. I received a letter from Hyundai regarding this recall, but the service did not help my vehicle at all. I called the dealership to have it looked at again, and the man stated that this is a common complaint, but the Hyundai corporation is stating that this is 'normal' for dual transmissions.

Same complaint as before they cannot duplicate at dealership. There is not a recall on this VIN number even though it was manufactured during the dates of the recall I found out. I am seriously thinking about hiring a lawyer because I do not want a car that is not safe for my grandchildren. This time again would not accelerate when going into traffic. It is very terrifying.

Dangerous transmission. Whilie the car was in motion going down an on-ramp to get onto the interstate I proceeded to merge into traffic only to find out that I did not have any power. The car was still on but there was not any acceleration, I kept pressing and pressing and nothing. So I pulled off the road so a semi wouldn't run over me. I put the car in park and then waited about a minute. I was able to get the car moving a little bit at a time. Once I reached 70mph it was like it wouldn't shift gears. So I decided to drive it to the dealership. While stopped at a stop light I proceeded into the intersection only to have it not be able to move anymore so I was blocking traffic. I put the car in park and did a diagnostic only to find out there were no issues. Clearly this function does not do it's job in reporting the problem. The service manager was not able to get me an appointment until 5 days later to look at it. Only to find out they could not replicate this issue. I thought it was in my head because this started when I only had the car a month. You never know when it is going to happen. Also, the car will lunge at low speeds and sort of buck.

There are several problems. The dual clutch an automated manual transmission on my 1.6-liter turbo version hesitates up to several seconds when accelerating, this can occur when turning, accelerating from a full stop, moving at a slow speed 1-5mph. The tachometer revs up but the car stays stationary. This happens multiple times a week. The scariest time was when I was attempting to merge on the highway and the car did not accelerate and cars had to swerve to avoid hitting me.. additionally if you are in bumper to bumper traffic inching along, it hesitates to accelerate and when it finally does, you're afraid you will hit the car in front of you. I have found when inching along 1-5 mph during rush hour traffic that I must leave 1-2 car lengths in front of me due to the lurching and hesitation. Supposedly the recall in September 2016 fixed this issue but it did not. When I contacted Hyundai motor company headquarters, they told me the car is working as designed. So they designed it to lurch and not accelerate? doesn't seem right to me. I have documentation of my contacts with the local dealer and corporate, but not with me today.
