Went to a Hyundai dealership to buy the Hyundai Santa Fe model. They didn't have one in stock but told me that the Hyundai Tucson model was just like the Santa Fe but a smaller version. I got the Tucson vehicle and in 2 days the air conditioner only blew hot air while on the highway. When I called the Hyundai service agent I was told to only use the air conditioner on the lowest fan. If I put it on a higher setting it will freeze up and blow only hot air. It was 95 out side. Later I came to a stop and when I stepped on the gas the engine revved up but the car would not go forward. I let off on the gas and tried again. The engine again revved up for about 6 seconds then the car lurched forward. The next day I had parked on a small incline. When I went to leave I: put my foot on the brake - released the parking brake - put it into drive and stepped on the gas. The engine revved up but did not go forward, instead it rolled backwards about 6 to 12 inches then it popped into gear and lurched forward. Every time I drove the car I had problems with that Hyundai Tucson. I felt unsafe and was worried that there would be an accident with the car acting like it did. Took the car to the dealership and they could not find anything wrong with the car. I looked on line and found hundreds of reviews of this vehicle all stating the same problems I was having. So, I traded in my 6 day old Tucson for a Santa Fe - and I am very happy now. The Tucson I felt was the most unsafe and unreliable vehicle that I have ever owned or driven. No one at the dealership told me about these known problems and/or issues with the duel transmission system. All I can say is this car is a potential life threatening vehicle and if Hyundai does not take care of these issues then there is a high probability of fatalities occurring.

I have a 2016 Hyundai Tucson sport 1.6 turbo. It has a dual clutch transmission. Everytime I press the accelerator slowly the car takes 5 seconds to start moving. When it does move the transmission chatters and is not smooth. As I am slowing down, stop, then proceed to go the trans either does not engage or there is a 5 second delay, chatters, and then takes off. It happens every time I drive the car and my wife is afraid to drive it. I afraid to drive it because I think it is going to get stuck in the middle of the road when I am turing. Which it has done at least 10 + times. I almost got hit 6 times. If you look on Hyundai forums and youtube it is a widespread complaint. I have called Hyundai about the problem and they do not have a fix. It is going into the dealership this Thursday 7/28/16. I have over 25 years experience in the automotive industry, and have 15 yrs dealership experience.

Transmission fails to engage. It happened the first time right in the morning from my driveway. Put the car in drive and car was inching forward while giving it plenty of gas/rpms. Car finally went into gear and started to move and was driving normal for the rest of the day. Thought nothing of it since it only happened once. Then about 3 weeks later, stopped at red light, once it turned green I stepped on the gas and the same thing, inching forward, high rpms, finally took gear after about 30 seconds and many upset people behind me. This bring me to yesterday, stopped at a stop sign to cross a busy non-stopping cross traffic, waiting to cross the street, found an opening and stepped on the gas expecting the car to make it through the intersection. I had plenty of time to move through, but suddenly my car just decided to not move while stuck right in the middle of the street. Oncoming car had to swerve and nearly hit my hood. Finally car started to move to barely make it out of the way for the 2nd oncoming car, scary stuff. Took it to the dealership for service and told them about my 2 incidents and was told this was "normal for the turbo". also, I noticed that when I drive up an incline (say a parking garage) when I get to the top and level out, my car gets a huge rush of rpms and im not even stepping on the gas. Not sure if this is at all related, but just assuming that it is part of the bigger problem with the transmission. Car is 2016 Tucson, limited, ultimate package, AWD I don't feel safe in this car at all. I hope there is a fix for this soon.

On 4 separate occasions my car would not accelerate from a stop. The first time it was after driving the vehicle for over 20 miles (so warmed up), stopped at traffic light, took my foot off the break and tried to accelerate, and the car would not engage, I was in eco mode at the time, I shifted it to manual and apply the gas nothing, shifted to sport still nothing, finally turned off car waited, turned car back on (while traffic piling up) and finally slowly started to move. I had a scheduled appointment with my dealership (as I had less than 5000 miles on it), and told them the problem, they said never heard that before (which I come to find was not a true statement). They said unless they can replicate it or the engine triggers the alarm nothing they can do. Car continued to act up, last time was after remote starting it and tried to leave the parking lot, would not engage. Called the dealership again and they advised still never heard of this being an issue, and unless it triggers a warning nothing they can do. Upon communication with other owners who are experiencing the same issue, I called the national office to log complaint, they told me to take my car in, as this is known issue and hopefully will be able to fix it, that was 2 weeks ago and haven't heard anything since. I turned it in because it is a safety issue not knowing when the car will not engage when pressing on the gas. Concerned for my safety and my passengers safety.

Have had four instances where the vehicle encounters an issue with moving forward after coming to a stop. First instance at a stop light, was unable to move forward at all. Engine would rev when applying gas, but there was no forward movement at all. Vehicle was not placed into park, or had brake engaged. After a few minutes of "playing" with gear shift, was able to move forward again. Three other instances, after coming to a stop, vehicle would only creep forward at slow speed for a few moments even if fully "stepping on the gas". in these instances I noticed that the engine was stuck revving high (was audible while at stop) and after driving slow for a few minutes it sorted itself out. The engine stopped being stuck at high rpms and the vehicle regained its ability to drive forward with usual handling. Have taken it twice to dealership while mentioning this issue, was told that unless there was an error message or if it could be duplicated by their tech, nothing could really be done. Fourth and most recent issue, was in a drive through, and the issue came about upon exiting. Engine was revving high from a complete stop, but would only creep forward when applying gas. After driving slow coming out of the parking lot for a few moments, the issue "sorted itself out." Engine rpms dropped and acceleration returned to normal.

We are noticing a major problem with transmission. Randomly at red lights after we stop...once the green light appears and we press down on the pedal to accelerate...the car does not go anywhere...the engine just keeps reving. It's starting to be more frequent. This almost caused us an accident over ten times now. We do not feel safe behind the car anymore and considering trading it in already.

When in driving, coming to a stop, the car lunges forward, must keep foot on brake, Hyundai says this is normal for the Tucson. I think this is a problem. Reported it in my first service and told it's Hyundai's problem. If I hit something it's my problem.

Just as many others have reported on three occasions I have not had movement to the wheels when in drive. It feels as though you are in neutral and hitting the gas. Lucking two of the times this occurred while leaving my garage, the other time was while at a red light that turned green. The car would not move. It is an accident waiting to happen, I am very scared to drive it. It is now in the shop for a second time. However, they can't reproduce the problem and nothing shows up on the vehicles computer. I'm nervous they are going to want me to take it back when it is so unsafe to drive. This started happening around the 6,000 miles mark.

Update to complaint 10876205... the day after I posted the complaint, I was taking a left hand turn pulling away from a stop sign, it slowly slipped into 1st gear and as there was a car coming crossways rapidly, I stepped on the gas pedal a little more, the engine revved up ~ 4000 RPM in 2nd gear but wasn't moving any faster, jerked into 3rd, was almost hit. I took my Tucson back to the dealership the next day (06/24/16) and they still have it (06/28/16). Is anyone going to step in before someone gets killed?

When the vehicle is in drive and you are stopped at a light or waiting to make a turn and then you go to accelerate, the car acts as if it's in neutral or limps along. This only happens when the car is stopped and you go to accelerate from a stop. Clearly in my video, you can see that the car is at a stop, the car is in drive and this time the car didn't even move until the engine was producing 4500rpm's and then only achieved 7mph. It almost seems like the car has neutraled out or the gear is slipping. We took the vehicle to Hyundai two times concerning this issue, the first time the tech was able to reproduce our concern and they performed a 'relearn' on the transmission. The second time they weren't able to reproduce the problem and we were sent on our way as if everything was ok. This concern is dangerous and we are scared, literally terrified to drive this vehicle because I was almost T-boned while making a left turn through an intersection and vehicle didn't respond. Our concern is intermittent and Hyundai just sends us on our way as if nothing is wrong with the vehicle. If anything happens to me, myself or my family because of this vehicle, please investigate the powertrain. Hyundai has declined my request to repurchase or replace under the Arizona lemon law. This vehicle is dangerous and now Hyundai is not helping to resolve this issue. I have a couple off videos showing the car demonstrating the concern. Please help

SUV will not accelerate when light turns green. Has happened a few times where it revs hesitates and then goes. Yesterday, when at a green light near my house, car revved and would not go even with foot pressed all the way down on accelerator. Fortunately, no one behind me otherwise this could have been an accident with the person behind accelerating and me unable to move at all! called dealer right away. It was 4pm on Saturday 6/25. They could not see me. Couldn't get me in for an appointment until this Thursday. Will go in first thing tomorrow morning (Monday) and demand something be done. Spoke with service manager. He said they will check but doubt they will find anything as none of the check lights or computer checks had triggered during any of the accelerator incidents. This is very dangerous. Want others to be aware of this maybe before purchasing the car!

On multiple occasions and with increasing frequency, the car does not transmit power to the wheels after stopping or slowing to a near stop - e.g. at a traffic light, merging into interstate traffic, or, god forbid, turning left at an intersection. I will put my foot on the accelerator and the rpms can roar into the 6000 range while my car inches forward at 1-5 mph into traffic. Incredibly dangerous. Most recently this happened as I was turning left onto sunset blvd in los angeles. What should have been a safe left turn became a harrowing experience as my car entered sunset at about 1-2 mph as traffic closed in from both directions, with a 6 year old in the car, no less! not my video, but a similar experience from another Tucson driver is here: Https://www.youtube.com/watch"V=tcvtr_zcyrs and another: Https://www.youtube.com/watch"V=tcvtr_zcyrs plenty of reports of this at Hyundai-forums.com *www.Hyundai-forums.com/2016-Tucson-IX35-models/454074-dangerous-horrible-dct-36.html and yet no action from Hyundai. Dealerships across the country are responding variously with "we can't replicate the problem" (it's intermittent and dangerously unpredictable), to "sounds like normal dct behavior to me!", to as my dealer told me, "until the malfunctioning part fails completely, we can't id the problem so can't fix it." Letting that part fail may, literally, be the last thing I do! still working on a resolution with Hyundai, but this is an incredibly dangerous malfunction and hynudai needs to address it as such.

Hyundai Tucson 2016,1300 miles. In heavy stop and go traffic on gw bridge, transmission overheating warning (pull over safely) car would not move, after 5 harrowing minutes was able to drive, taken to dealer, "never heard of this before" could not fix because nothing wrong. So much for,100000 mile warranty. Have since discovered someone else went to same dealership after I did, the manager, barry, said"I have never heard of this". so far no one has been hurt but it's just a matter of time. By the way, on my repair receipt there was a suggestion that I learn to drive properly!!!!!

This car needs to be recalled and the transmitting replaced. It is dangerous. First it was the shudder and erratic hesitation starting out in 1st gear. Like you have a choice what gear you start in. So it's crazy frustrating. Now it has advanced to not engaging 1st gear from time to time. Twice while in the middle of a busy intersection. Then once engaged, the car burned rubber through a left turn to exit the intersection. I'm lucky to have not had an accident or ran anyone over int he process. Every time I bring it to the dealer, they talk to me like it is the design of the duel clutch and nothing I can do since it was designed that way... what?!! I'm taking a more active approach now to keep myself or someone in my family from dying as a result of this problem that Hyundai is clearly refusing to admit to. There is many accounts posted on the internet exactly the same as mine. The service manager said the don't read internet propaganda.. I just can't believe this company exists in America. And fyi - the car I had 10 years prior was the 2006 Hyundai Tucson. They rebuild the 2016 and this is what I get for my loyalty.

05/06/2016 @ 1600 cond-rainy. While at a stop light I pressed the accelerator and the SUV did not move. The engine revved but the SUV did not go forward. It slowly engaged and lurched forward after approx 3-5 seconds. 5/19/2016 @ 1800 cond-rain /not driven in approx 4 days. Less than a mile from start and had been driving for approx 3-5 mins-while waiting at a stop light I attempted to accelerate when the light changed and the veh did not move. I pressed the accelerator to the floorboard and the engine revved for approximately 5-7 seconds before the veh lurched/jumped forward and slowly moved. I again immediately went to Hyundai. I was given a loaner vehicle - 2016 Tucson. 5/21/2016 @ 1350 same non-movement while accelerating from a stop occurred w/the loaner vehicle. It had not been driven in 2 days cond-rainy. This occurred approx 3 mins after start and w/in a mile. Hyundai Corp are not taking responsibility for the issues with this veh. 3 similar issues from customers were reported to this dealership. I do not feel safe driving this veh or allowing any member of my family to drive this veh. It is an accident in waiting either from being hit from behind by another veh or from striking another B/C of the lurching. I had to put my hazards on and hope that I did not get hit from behind. I am not satisfied and want a refund for both of the veh's I purchased due to this huge safety issue. At random times, usually from a stop, but sometimes when pulling into traffic, the veh does not move. I consider this to be a very hazardous defect. Hyundai is unable to replicate the error, so eng. Advises to release the veh back to me, they are unaware of any similar problems. I will never drive another Hyundai veh again B/C it is unsafe and the lack of responsibility to rectify their manufacturing problem. It is not a driver's operational error.

Reported hesitation when trying to accelerate from a stop, in traffic, or when exiting a turn. Service tech acknowledged as did the sales team that they experienced the issue in the vehicle but since there are no recalls that apply to the vehicle there is nothing they can do until corporate decides to address the issue. Have had several times when the vehicle would not accelerate when trying to merge with traffic and hesitates or lunges when coming to a stop some times. Continues to happen when driving since first purchased on 5/21/2016.

Takata recall; while in traffic I lost all throttle response and car would not accelerate but only dropped to low RPM and coasted. No warning lights. After coasting car began to respond to accelerator. This has happened before but dealer told me it was turbo delay on 1.6T engine and found no problem. This is not turbo delay and car is now setting at the dealer as this last time made it to the lot on late Saturday. Not safe to drive home. Will wait and see what they find but probably will not repeat or get fixed. I now see other web sites give same type of problem. Only has 6400 miles on it since 8/19/2015
