While traveling on highway applied brakes steering column shook and vibrated. Dealership was aware of problem. To correct the steering column shaking, the dealer machined and replaced front rotors and pads. But the problem was still not solved. The transfer case was leaking oil.

I would like to add that the brake disc problem that I've encountered hasn't been a failure. However, I'm very worried about these components on all Jeep. All of my friends have Jeep and do complain about the brakes. The brakes may not stop the vehicle, rotors warp constantly under normal driving conditions, and repairs/service issues are a hassle. I would hope that this is investigated before somebody is injured or killed. Also, jasper Jeep is the dealership that sold the Jeep to me. They are great. It is nalley Jeep in roswell ga that is giving me a hard time. They will no longer authorize "free repairs" to a faulty product. Front brakes and rotors are wearing out too fast. Every few thousand miles front brake and rotors need replacing. Took to dealer, and they said it was normal. But, consumer did not think so. The front rotors and brake pads were replaced but the same problem occured on rear brakes and rotors and were replaced. The front brakes were pulsating and possibly need replacing. The manufacturer says this was normal.

Jeep lemon!!! terrible vehicle, terrible company!! this vehicle should be recalled immediately for these two issues, among others! I have almost rearended someone, by lookingback to see if I was rear ended due to the hard shift. The brakes shake so much under braking that I did rear end someone, however there was no noticable damage to either vehicle.

As in the technical bulletin the brakes are very poor and pulsating. At 12000 to 14000 the first time, if you are going xway speed and tried to stop the car vibrated very bad. I took the car in and they said there was a bulletin to replace the rotors. That was done, the car was ok until another 12000 miles. Same problem. The dealer replaced the rotors again. As a " good customer benifit" I know I will have to go thru this again. After 2000 miles the brakes are pulsing again. I have a '97 passport with 75000 miles and still have the origonal brakes. This is my wifes, there is no hi speed starting and stopping. I think this will be a safty problem in the future or at least an expensive one every 12000 to 14000 miles.

Front rotors were prematurely warping at 17,000 miles. Dealer replaced the pads, and resurfaced the rotors, which did not correct the problem.

A day after a good rain when vehicle is first in motion (even in dry driving conditions) even at 5mph any pressure on the brake pedal results in the brakes locking up. I have consulted with the dealer and various mechanics and they think a film of rust is building on the discs, and said I must warm the brakes up" this doesn't seem like a logical answer, why should one have to warm the brakes. Is this a design flaw"
