The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Cherokee. While driving approximately 5 mph, the vehicle did not move without warning. The vehicle was towed to big M Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram (859-885-3367, located at 1010 elizabeth St, nicholasville, ky 40356) where the technician updated the computer system, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The contact later received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 19V447000 (power train) and took the vehicle to the same dealer who once again reprogrammed the transmission control module. The vehicle was repaired; however, the contact did not beleive the failure was remedied. The failure mileage was 55,000.

In January I was driving on 391S (highway) and the dash lit up with the engine light, break light, oil light. A message appeared stating "service transmission. Restart in park with vehicle at zero speed" the gear shift started blinking while it was in drive, I pulled over and when I tried to park a loud clunky sound was made and the vehicle jolted forward (same would occur when shifting in reverse). Jeep serviced it stating it was recalls and it was fine. In may while on 91S (highway) the car did the exact same thing again. Jeep serviced it stating it was again fine. I complained stating a car with under 50K miles should not have this issue and eventually they told me if it happened again they would replace the transmission. In August (this current month) it occured again on 91N(highway). Same exact thing, and Jeep again serviced the vehicle stating it was more recalls and it was fine. I complained multiple times stating they had told me they would replace the transmission and they said that the dealer stated it was safe to drive and they would not do that. It has 52K miles and I have had transmission problems now 3 times on a highway within the last 8 months. Beyond a safety concern and I can not say enough how scared I am to continue driving it. I have been lucky not to cause or be in an accident so many times but why should I continue to risk it. I went to park the car yesterday and while in reverse it jolted forward about two feet before starting to go backwards. It has continuous problems driving where it feels like the vehicle is shifting gears and jolts foward. (its an automatic).

Had the recall for the transmission control module done hoping that would solve the issue, but it didn't. our car when at a stand still or when driving the car will all of a sudden be stuck in a gear and then find itself real hard. Recently the car was at a gas station and went to put it into drive and it wouldn't move, then all of sudden boom in gear it drops.

I have a 2014 Jeep Cherokee with 71K miles. For more than 6 months I have noticed that the car takes a lot of effort to speed, and when it does the RPM is so high and it feels that the engine is going to burn out. It is like the gears are stucked. I took it to the dealer and they said that everything was good, except my engine mounts. I changed that; however, the problems continues. 5 days ago I had the service shifter message come up on my screen. It highlighted all my gears lights red and the screen was locked to service shifter. They said that everything was fine, but obviously the car have some issues with the transmission.

I took my 2014 Jeep Cherokee into the Jeep dealership for service recall V69 software update. After the new transmission software was updated, a new error code became present - service shifter. This code was never present before and I was told by the Jeep dealer that I would have to have my entire shifter replaced. In addition, I don't even know if it is safe to drive my vehicle while this code is present.

When I started the vehicle it gave an error message saying service shifter and all red lights on the park reverse drive area beside shifter. So I turned it off and restarted it and the problem didn't show. After researching online, I see it happens often on the Cherokee with very few miles on them. Mine has about 36,000 miles. Please recall before people die from these deathtrap vehicles!!!!! this isn't my first serious issue with this car. I paid $24K a year ago for the car and this should not be happening but yet, it's happening to lots of owners. Where are you" why aren't you helping? don't you want to keep innocent victims safe" please please help!

The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Cherokee. When the gear shifter was placed into drive, the vehicle would reverse and failed to operate as needed. The contact had to make several attempts to restart the vehicle for it to operate properly. The contact stated that the service transmission indicator illuminated during the failure. The contact later discovered that the vehicle was included in NHTSA campaign number: 19V447000 (power train). Autonation Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram roseville (200 automall dr, roseville, ca, 916-467-8055) performed the recall repair, but the failure continued. The contact took the vehicle back to the dealer and was informed that she would have to pay out of pocket for the defect to be resolved. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.

Transmission will not move from park, error message 'service transmission ', 'service park brake' 'transmission shifts very hard at times' vehicle cannot be moved at times until battery is disconnected and I think computer resets. May need to disconnect more than once to correct. Jeep has no remedy, they say must see error messages or condition before they can fix. Through research I have found 9 speed transmission is defective, I am not the only person having this problem. Jeep has no fix and has bought back some of these vehicles from owners. Can I use the lemon law to remedy this problem? this has occurred numerous times since I've owned vehicle..

Service shifter message on. All the gear shift lights are on. Dealership reported wire harness wires are 'frayed' needs to be replaced. Never had any work done in that area. Has to be a manufacturing problem. This has also caused the following engine code to arise. P0222 description the throttle position sensor/switch is located on the throttle body of the intake manifold and the pedal position sensor/switch is part of the accelerator pedal assembly. These sensors tell the engine control module (PCM) how fast the driver wants to go and how quickly it needs to get up to speed. When the PCM detects a problem with this sensor or the circuit for the sensor, it will set code P0222.the PCM may also limit the speed of the vehicle to 20 miles per hour or less ("limp home mode") to protect the engine and the driver due to the control module's inability to accurately detect the engine performance being requested. Almost caused me to wreck going to work.

After the vehicle is warmed up the transmission doesn't want to shift. On take off from a dead stop it'll be in 3rd gear at 10 mph. The vehicle has been to the dealer several time for this issue and I'm told there aren't any issues. Also when turning out in traffic the vehicle has stalled numerous times with my 3 year old son in the back. This vehicle is unsafe and the worst purchase I have ever made.

After fueling, the Jeep will start surging, the idling becomes erratic and then it will stall out with the parking brake light coming on, service transmission light comes on, the D on the ip flashes and when placing gear selector from D to P, the Jeep makes a loud clunk which can be felt thru the floor. Shifting into any other gear does the same. This has happened over 10 times since purchasing new. We never top off the fuel tank and take care to fill up if tank shows 1/4 full. It's been to the dealer, at least twice, to have the transmission "flashed" but the problem keeps recurring. Each time the dealer (greenville Chrysler, greenville, tx) tries to charge us a diagnostic fee which we adamantly reject after the first time because the problem is exactly the same. Just 4 days ago, my wife was turning left at a light from a stop, after fueling, and it stalled in the middle of the intersection. She was able to restart it and drive but she could hear the loud clunk when putting it in D. she immediately came home and parked it and I confirmed the cel, service transmission light, parking light, flashing D on the ip and I switched from P to D and R and it clunked each time. I unplugged the battery to see if it would clear any codes and "reset" and let it sit overnight and this morning it started up fine with no warning lights on the ip. We took it this afternoon to pick up our son from school and it did the same thing with all the warning lights, clunking when shifting gear and we limped it home. I've disconnected the battery and will reconnect in the morning and take it to the dealership. Consumer stated in short, after filling up with fuel, the Jeep stutters and/or shuts off. For me, this happened in parking lots or somewhere other than a public road. However, my wife has experienced this on the road on several occasions.the Jeep will run fine for about 2-3 months and then starts to act up again.

Car would not go in gear at stop light. Shuddering and lurched. It felt like we'd been hit. All kinds of lights start flashing (engine transmission key foblicense plate light out, etc) on the dash. Couldn't get to shut off, change gear or any commands. Finally able to get to park to shut off. Restarted and started moving and seemed ok. At the next stoplight it did the same thing. Wouldn't engage in gear then the shudder finally got going and then lost power and slowly stalled. Managed to get to a parking lot and stalled again sitting in idle. After letting sit for 30 minutes or so it started and ran ok. It's like electronic brain went crazy for a bit. We've had issues with the transmission shifting hard or hesitation at lower gears off and on sine we've had it. You have to change driving style and make sure you don't need to make a quick move because you don't know how it will respond. Every time we take it in we're told they did an update to the software and shouldn't have any other issues. At this point I'm scared to drive it!

Transmission failed 07/21/2016. Car refused to start and had both check engine and service transmission messages. Dealer replaced transmission with 2016 model that was supposed to solve the issues. At this point the car has 19,866 miles showing. On 5/29/2019, same problem showed up, car refused to start, check engine and service transmission messages. After a week at the dealership I was advised that the best guess? was I needed to replace the control module at a cost O $900 since it is out of warranty. I asked if this did not fix it would they buy the module back and was advised no. Currently the car is sitting in the driveway, I am afraid to attempt to drive it and fear the transmission will fail while I am on the highway and become involved in an accident as I attempt to get it off the road. The transmission failure keeps the engine from operating.

Car literally stops working while driving, locking steering and no power brakes to stop. Has happened twice, while turning both directions. Others online have had it happen while driving straight, and crashed as a result. Jeep dealer blames oil level, transmission, and software, but no fixes have helped. Currently installing new transmission due to horrible shifting. Dealer states oil level can be 1/4" low on the dipstick (within the safe zone) and it can make the car quit running while you are driving 70 mph down the highway! many others have experienced the same issues! this is a dangerous car that must be taken off the road immediately.
