While driving, the vehicle shifts very rough. Whether on the interstate or just driving around town. It also idles very high, and uses a lot of excess gas. Also, when I turn the vehicle on there are times that nothing will appear on the lcd screen, so I am unable to control anything in the car as far as electronics, climate, radio, phone etc. Even turning the vehicle off and then back on does not work. Eventually it just turns back on, while driving. Every once in a while a message will come across the screen stating there is something wrong with the phone in the car and to contact the dealer.

I was getting gas and when I went to put the vehicle in drive the emergency brake enabled, with the light blinking. After several attempts to turn it off, finally it dislodged. While I was attempting to dislodge the emergency brake, I happened to be at the gas station where my mechanic is, who I use for oil changes and minor maintenance. He opened my trunk and noticed cracks in the frame, and the entire spare tire wheel well was filled with water. He advised me to take the car directly to Jeep and that they needed to fix this, it was his opinion this was a safety manufacturing defect. I took the car to Jeep, who informed me my car was out of warranty and they would be charging me for this. I contacted corporate Jeep, who unfortunately relies on their dealerships to advise them. Corporate finally told me that after three weeks of the Jeep dealership having my car, they would not be covering the issue due to a front end accident from 2015. I took the car to the body shop who fixed the car from that accident and received his expert opinion that this was all original, never fixed and there was no way the accident could have caused this. He reiterated that the dealership should rectify this issue since it is a safety issue and a manufacturing defect. There is nothing wrong with the gasket and there is no other way, in his opinion, for water to enter the spare wheel well and affect the emergency brake. The car is currently at the dealership, the emergency brake will not dislodge. Jeep needs to be held accountable for this.

Within two minutes of starting the vehicle and driving it on the road, the vehicle was stall mid-traffic and become inoperable. The battery light then comes on with an error on screen with something to the effect of, "car must be in park in order to shift." Turning the key does nothing until 3 minutes of causing a traffic hazard when the engine finally turns over. Also the transmission has rough shifts at slow speeds causing the vehicle to suddenly jerk forward as if the gas was aggressively pushed down. This jerkiness to the transmission and speed has almost caused me to hit parked vehicles when trying to park the vehicle in a parking lot area.

The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Cherokee. While driving on the highway, the contact noticed smoke inside the vehicle. He then noticed that the automatic door locks on the driver's door caught fire. The fire started within the door and was burning through the door panel. The driver pulled over and the occupants exited the vehicle. The fire department arrived and contained the fire to just the driver's side door. There were no injuries. The contact's wife was driving at the time of the failure and inhaled a lot of smoke. A doctor's appointment was scheduled for December 18, 2019. A police report was not filed. The contact was unsure if a police report was filed. John greene Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram (910 jamestown rd, morganton, nc 28655, (828) 584-5337) stated that there were no recalls and informed the contact not to tow the vehicle to their facility. The manufacturer was contacted and stated that they would send a team to investigate the failure and inspect the vehicle damage. The vehicle was towed back to the contact's home. The failure mileage was 42,000.

I was getting gas with my baby in the car with me when I tried to shift into park the car was stuck. The emergency brake engages itself. When I looked around and in the back I noticed water in the spare tire wheel well. I understand the electrical component to the emergency brake is underneath this. I followed the water trail (it rained the night before) and saw a huge crack in my frame when the lift gate was up. Which, to me is where the water is coming from. I got it to my dealership, somehow and it's there currently. I called my insurance company, they will not cover because I did not have an action that caused this problem (such as an accident). They advised me this is a manufacturing problem.

When I am driving my car will shift itself into neutral and stall out and then it will shut off when I am traveling 70 mph down the highway. Then when I have to turn it back on I have to turn the key then shift my car into neutral and let it coast a little so that way it will turn over. It has done this 6 times now and the last time this happened it broke down and it would not start back up. The last three time this happened I was on the highway, traveling about 70 mph. When it happened about the third time a different light came on saying my throttle peddle was going bad and that the ignition was going bad as well. I took it to go get the codes read but every where I took they were saying they could not help me and that we would have to pay out of pocket for it. Meanwhile my fiance and I looked up recalls on the Jeep Cherokee and there is recalls on the transmissions and other things as well. And all the recalls are for the 6 cylinder Jeep but my Jeep is having all the same problems that the 6 cylinder Jeep are having. But no one will help fix it. I have talked to Chrysler corporation 2 times an each time we talk to them they say it is not their problem and that it is our problem. My car is unsafe to drive and it do not trust to even have my family in it.

I bought the Jeep 8/2017 and took it to the dealership mid 2018 and complained to the dealership that the Jeep accelerates on its own while I'm driving that I have to put my foot in the break to slow the Jeep down. Right after the dealership finished their testing they stated that they didn't notice any acceleration with the Jeep was fine but it was still accelerating while I drive it and right after I left the dealership the engine started knocking making a ticking sound and had been doing it a year after I brought it. I'm scared I will get in an accident because it seems to speed up (accelerates) on its own. This happens on the city streets mostly and more if I'm goin down a small hill with my foot on the break it automatically speeds up and the engine reves up past 3 to 4 RPM with my foot in the break. My electric problem is the radio and backup camera doesn't not alway come on when I turn on the Jeep some times it takes like 5 mins for it to come out or it comes in after I've drive a few blocks. I let the car run and warm up before I pull off.

Cars shift bezel and jumper harness failed and had to be replaced. While driving the car, a message comes up that states service shifter and all the lights on the shifter light up. Dash display will not go back to normal until the vehicle is turned off and the system resets. The problem is sporadic and happens randomly but started occuring more frequently after Jeep did a software patch related to another rebate in the last 60 days. Vehicle is less than 5 years old and I was told by dealership that they've seen this before and classified it as an electrical issues. It wasn't covered under warranty despite it being a failure of the electrical system and that there is no way that I could have actually damaged this part.

Was driving home last Saturday night. 10-26-19, all of the sudden antilock light warning appeared, parking brake warning, 4X4 system. Traction control, and service transmission warning. I pulled over, shut vehicle off, once restarted it was all off, then I drove about 10 miles up.the road. It came on again all lights and warnings, when your driving between 40-55 mph, it seems to accelerate and then decelerate. As if someone was giving it gas and then letting off of the pedal, is how I can describe it. I started it on today 10-28-19, it's still driving the same way with all warning lights on. Code reader doesn't show anything wrong with it. Vehicle has 61,640 miles on it. 2.4L, 9 speed transmission.

My car starts to stall, slow down then jerks and doesn't move afterwards. Then a message comes up saying 'shift to P, then desired gear' and I have to shut the car off about 4 times before being able to drive it again. This is while I was driving heading to work, while at a green light.

Every few weeks, I will get a warning that flashing on my display while driving saying "shift into P before shifting to desired gear", and the engine dies a couple seconds later. This has happened on cold days, warm days, flat roads, hills, and turns. Rural roads with low speeds as well as the interstate at 60+ mph. Takes about 2 minutes before the car will restart and has left me in the middle of traffic on several occasions, causing a danger to myself and other drivers. Most commonly happens when my oil life is below 30%, but has occurred at other times as well.

As I was driving home the service shifter message came on after I backed out of the parking spot and shifted into drive. My display and would not clear. After looking online I found that there is a whole group of Jeep owners that have this same issue. They discussion can be found at https://www.cargurus.com/cars/discussion-T68742_ds990296 I am surprised there has not been a recall on the automobile for this yet considering an extraordinary amount of people have this issue. Definitely needs to be looked into. I have only owned the car for less than 48 hours and am questioning returning it to the lot after a mechanic takes a look into it.

Backing out of my garage on September 9 as well as sitting in my driveway 3 other times, my service shifter light came on. Reading online what this meant, I found a website with numerous other Jeep customers who have this problem (https://www.cargurus.com/cars/discussion-T68742_ds990296). my car could stop working any day, the dealership is unsure. I am wondering why a recall has not been done on this problem with as many Jeep that have been effected by it.

The electric parking brake set itself and would not disengage, requiring tow. The dealership told mei need to pay for a software update to fix the problem, however I discovered on my own a service bulletin describing the exact problem #08-060-16 the vehicle was parked, but could not be operated. My opinion, either the dealership is incompetent, or purposefully deceitful. Pay for a software update. I asked, he couldn't answer... how did I break the software"?" it is not software, the bulletin says it all.
