Third complaint-Same Problem!!!

Driving my Jeep in town after the last episode that seemed to clear after leaving the negative battery cable off all night and the F'N emergency parking brake engaged again!!!! Thank God I wasn't going as fast as the last time but it's still a shock especially when one is still recovering to the last whiplash!!!

This time the Service Parking Brake light came and the Parking Brake Symbol. Once again I had have it towed home and since this has happened I cannot even drive my Jeep at all!!!

I decided to look if there was any water intrusion in the cargo again and guess what...even after trying to seal it previously water was still getting in! There were several inches of water everywhere and I tore the entire back apart to suck the water up with the shop vac. The EBCM was sitting in standing water and upon the slightest touch the damn thing fell apart in my hand, that's what happens when plastic gets exposed to water for any length of time! Both ends were extremely corroded again and the damn thing doesn't even work anymore!!! I have done everything I can but unless I have a sh!t ton of money I have an inoperable Jeep and am stuck!!! The dealer wants $350 just to diagnose it, WTF!!! I cannot afford this and should not have to, this is on Jeep from their poor ass design flaw! Why is there no recall on the Jeeps without the power liftgate? Same freaking issue!!!Jeep should pay for this cost at their expense, not ours!!!

Second complaint!

50 miles from home in a busy section of a larger town coming up to a stoplight and slowing. Was going about 20 mph when my emergency brake engaged throwing me forward and backward with the abrupt stop. No dash warning lights or anything. I got whiplash that is still bugging me!!! Previously when this happened I was able to disconnect the negative side of the battery allowing the Jeep to reset so I could get to a parking lot. This time nothing I did would release the parking brake. My Jeep had to be towed home and I didn't get home til after 10pm! I left the negative cable off the battery all night and the following day I reconnected the battery cable and everything worked fine. The tow bills add up and not knowing how to repair this is irritating! No recall for this, only TSB!!!

Cherokee Trailhawk 3.2L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 10 miles

electronic emergency brake automatically activates in reverse

Sometimes, when backing up, the vehicle will automatically engage the electronic parking brake. No explanation, nothing else is touched (both hands on the wheel). Car will lurch to a stop. Brake must be released to continue backing up. COMPLETELY ANNOYING & UNNECESSARY.

emergency brake engages while backing up

I FELT AS IF I GOT WHIPLASH- HERE I WAS BACKING UP AND ALL OF A SUDDEN MY CAR FLAT STOPS, JARRING ME AS THE E BRAKE ENGAGED.

THIS HAPPENED THREE TIMES BEFORE I WAS ABLE TO TAKE CAR IN.

THEY SAID THAT FOUND RIGHT PASSENGER DOOR NOT CLOSED PROPERLY DUE TO MISALIGNED. AFTER ALIGNMENT OF DOOR, PARK BRAKE WORKING PROPERLY.

MY QUESTION, THAT DOOR WAS MISALIGNED FOR SEVERAL MONTHS, WOULDN'T THAT HAVE HAPPENED EVERY TIME I DROVE THE CAR.? THEIR ANSWER, NOTHING.

IT WILL BE BACK IN SOON, IM SURE.
