Cherokee

  • 88,000 miles
The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that at start-up, the "transmission, service required" warning message appeared on the instrument panel. The contact proceeded to drive the vehicle with the warning message displayed and while driving 25 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power. The contact was able to park the vehicle and had it towed to an independent mechanic. The mechanic could not diagnose the failure and had to tow the vehicle to another independent mechanic who was also unable to diagnose the cause of the failure. The manufacturer was then notified of the failure and acknowledged that the failure was a known issue; however, there were no recalls on the VIN. Upon investigation, the contact linked her failure to a defective PCM (Powertrain Control Module). The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 88,000.
