Cherokee Latitude 2.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 4,834 miles

Started with the RPM gauge going up to 6000 rpms. Seemed liked transmission shifting OK. No high idle. Hit the shifter to see the gear it was in at 65_70 MPH and it was in 7th out of 9. Got home and RPM gauge sitting at idle (park) was at 3000 + rpms. Once again no high idle. Taking to dealer tomorrow. Will keep u updated only has 4834 miles on it.

Cherokee Limited 3.0L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 7,000 miles

This is the repair that has moved me into the "I'll never buy another FCA/Jeep vehicle ever again and I will do whatever I can to prevent anyone I know from buying one too" camp.

Unbelievable that a major component of vehicle could have so many problems so soon after hitting the road.

Cherokee Limited V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 323 miles

Headed off this morning to run errands and was pulling away from a stoplight, and the RPMs went over the edge with no power. So I would say that that was an transmission problem. I'm wondering if I bought a bad car..

Cherokee Latitude V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 8,500 miles

Wednesday morning 3/25/15 we were getting ready to drive from Pensacola FL, to Kissimmee FL for a high school softball tournament. We had been noticing a hard down shift for about 3 weeks and had scheduled an appointment for the flash update on the tranny for the Thursday on our return from vacation. My wife and I ran a few last minute errands and met up with our group at the school. I had pulled off the road at the ball field and needed to back up to load some equipment. I put the shifter in reverse. The back up camera came on but the transmission did not engage. I went to neutral and back to Reverse. This time it went into gear. We were literally 10 minutes from starting our two week vacation and driving 7-8 hours.

We immediately went to the dealer...That's another story...Upon arriving at the dealer I could smell the transmission and after parking it would not go into Drive or Reverse without working it a few times. They had our Jeep for 9 days. Only because they didn't start working on it until the 7th day. We were told the first transmission they ordered from Chrysler was faulty. That did not bolster our confidence at all. The second was installed and is shifting much better, but something is still not exactly right. I know it's an adaptive transmission but in the middle gears there is a very slight jumping or bumping after shifting that you can just barely feel. we've only dealt with the dealer so far. If anything else happens we will start trying to contact Chrysler.

We love everything about our Cherokee except the tranny problems. I doubt we will keep it. We had a Honda Element for 11 years with zero problems until it was 9 years old. This Cherokee was bought in December and has had a complete transmission failure in 3 months??!! We were so lucky to not have been on I-75 or Florida's Turnpike when this happened, unlike some of the stories I've read here. I don't understand how a product with these troubles can be sold like it is. I've been told the new Renegade is being delayed to the dealers because of similar problems they're trying to remedy.

Cherokee Trailhawk

  • Automatic transmission
  • 2,222 miles

Driving from Decatur, IN, to Indianapolis to catch a flight to go to Colorado and see my kids and grand kids. Just as I approach Indy, this service transmission light comes on. I had noticed the last 2 or 3 weeks that the transmission seemed to shift rough when there was no reason to and wouldn't idle down when slowing to turn or come to a stop and it would randomly lunge when slowing down.

Super long story short, I had to reschedule my flight and pay for a hotel, a taxi, etc. My Jeep is still in the shop in Indy awaiting a new updated transmission from the factory. Will have to make the 2 hour one-way drive when it's ready to pick it up. The transmission is covered under warranty (I assume) but I've incurred hundreds of dollars out of pocket and hours of precious time that I can never get back, down the drain. Plus they didn't give me a rental car. Really? My husband had to make the 4 hour round trip to retrieve me. Unbelievable.

Cherokee Sport 2,4

  • Automatic transmission
  • 500 miles

Since day one, the car had been getting stuck on the high gears so when I would take my foot off the accelerator the car would either maintain the speed or even increase the speed, which is extremely dangerous, When my radio broke (see electrical issues) I decided to take the car to the dealer and apparently there was a software update to be done on the car because of this issue. They "fixed" my car on the third of December and was "ready" by the 4th.

Then the issue got worse. On the 5th when I went to turn on my car, while still parked the rpms went from 1000 to 5000 then to 1000 then to 5000 and on. I turned off the car and on again and then drove to work (4 miles) because I couldn't be absent. I called Chrysler from work and they took 3 hours to tow my car (after 3 different tries). I haven't gotten a status update and I called Chrysler with my case number but didn't hear back from them yet.

My car has spent 10 days with Chrysler and 8 days with me

Cherokee Trail Hawk 2.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 2,000 miles

Bought a 2015 Jeep Cherokee Trail Hawk in August and after less than 2000 mile was left on the side of the road. Service techs can't figure it out and ordered a new transmission. Transmission is on back order due to lack of availability. This vehicle is a lemon and calls to Jeep/Chrysler have been worthless.

Found a Campaign Recall on my own posted on Oct 20, 2014 on the transmission but no remedy posted and after two months the service techs still can't fix the thing.

Good thing my State has a lemon law. Thanks a lot for disappointment Jeep.
