I turned on the car, let it warm up for about 3 minutes. Put it in drive, I was on the road for about 5 minutes and all the lights on the dashboard turned on, the car stalled and the motor turned off. The transmission was stuck in drive and I had to forcefully find a way to move it to neutral or park to restart the car. When I checked the fluids on the vehicle everything was ok with the exception of the oil dip stick. All the oil had burned away and I was still about 2000 miles away from next oil change. All my oil changes were done at the Jeep dealership where the car was purchased and we used synthetic oil to protect the engine. This is very dangerous that no warning signs are given to the drivers and that the car completely shuts off in the middle of the road. I tried to resolve this issue with the dealership but they said that because there is no recall for this common problem, they cannot resolve it. Please help!

I was on my way to work and two miles into my commute I noticed that a message appeared on my dash. It is ( service shifter) message. My shifter has red lights illuminated on all the selections in the shifter. I own a 2016 Jeep Cherokee 75th edition, with about 58,0000 miles. I believe a lot of folks are experiencing this issue, which could potentially be a hazard while driving.

While driving on an interstate at 70 mph the service transmission message appeared, emi lit & car went from gear to clutch causing loss of power & could not accelerate to maintain speed. After a few minutes car went back into gear & was able to regain proper speed. When I filled with gas the engine malfunction light went off. After driving approximately 400 miles the same thing happened on an interstate, fortunately in both instances, the traffic was not heavy & I was able to get in right lane. If there had been heavy traffic this could have caused serious accidents. The engine malfunction light stayed on so I took my Jeep to a mechanic. The code says there is an electrical problem with the computer for the transmission, it gets too hot& the car goes out of gear to the clutch, then back in gear. I read online there are 37,000 recalls on this Jeep problem, but none on mine. There needs to be one!

Randomly..... while driving, a warning pops up on the dashboard saying "service shifter" and all the lights on the gear shift panel turn red. The lights stay red & the warning stays on the dash & I am unable to see my speed limit or any other vehicle details. This stays on until I park & turn my vehicle off. This happens daily at random moments, whether the vehicle is parked or moving, no matter the speed being traveled, & no matter the location. It is always random.

Shifter service error message appeared in two occasions within the span of a month. First encounter, was a few days after taking the car off the dealership lot. I was entering the drive away and all of sudden, shifter service error message appeared and all the gear indicators flashed bright red. After the dealership, , I probably put less that 10 miles on it at this point. Turned off the vehicle and restarted the ignition. Put it in drive, this time while stationary and it appeared again. I didn't take a photo the first time, as I assumed it was a fluke. Didn't happen anymore after that till today, May 17th. I started up the ignition and headed on my way off, within 5 mins of my ride, I heard a beep. Looked at the dash and saw the service shifter message again so I drove off into a parking lot to check out the issue. I stopped and went into park. The red indicators were still apparent. I turned off the vehicle 5X and repeated turning on the ignition, put it in drive, service shifter error appears and going into park and turning off the vehicle all while stationary in the parking lot. After the 6th time, I took it slow and it didn't appear. Since the first occurrence, I probably have only driven the Jeep less than 100 miles.

Tamara recall...ever since I bought my Jeep brannew the radio sometimes does not work, service shifter is coming up, also other things are coming up saying automatic shut down service..wheels are not straight, among other things. This should not be happening on a Jeep that's 3 years old. Now the dealership wants $99 to check it out plus whatever the problem is. I'm very disgusted because I love this car, took my anxiety away, but now I'm nervous to drive it period. I hate to trade it off for a Toyota or Honda. Please help me on this. Is it dangerous to ride with service shifter lit? this should be a free recall to see what's happening. No one has answers. I've seenin the internet many people having the same problem. Please help

My vehicle Jeep was in motion on the interstate when my service transmission light came on and I almost caused a major accident when my Jeep slowed way down. When I accelerated it would hardly move. Mind you I was on the interstate!! very scary experience. This is not the first experience I have had with my Jeep while in motion on highway it jumps bucks and revs up on its own when it was doing that I had to take it to be hooked up to tester to see why my battery light came on? had to replace coil pack #4 and I did it again 6 months down the road and had to replace coil pack #2. the check engine light stays on. My Jeep only has 59064 miles. I am very scared terrified and nervous driving me Jeep.

My Jeep Cherokee limited 2016's engine will shut off mid drive. This has happened to me three times while on the road for the past 4 months or so. I fear for my safety and that of my family and friends or whomever may be with me in my vehicle when this happens. The issue begins with the dash starting to flicker, the ac and radio will shut off, any actively enabled functions will shut off/disable (lane sense, cruise control, auto start/stop), two times out of the three, the vehicle engine shuts off seconds after, causing the greatest risk to safety since the vehicle is essentially cruising with no power whatsoever at an average of 70mph (mostly drive on freeways/highways), forcing me to pull over on the side of the road/shoulder in order to break to a full stop, place the vehicle on park and then restart the vehicle in order to get back on the road. I believe Jeep had issued a recall for this exact issue if I'm not mistaken (safety recall U63). I have taken my Jeep to a local dealership to get this issue fixed. I received the assessment from the dealership saying that the recall issue was fixed. A week after I went to the dealership the issue happened again, the check engine light came on but turned off after so by the time I took it to the dealership again, they "couldn't help me" since the check engine light was not on at the time. I also did not have a way to prove that this issue was happening still to my vehicle so I left disappointed and sure it would happen again at some point. As of today 28 March 2019 the issue happened again yesterday on the way to work around 0836am, luckily I was able to record a video of it as it was happening that I would be happy to share, the vehicle did not shut off during the video. I bought this vehicle new, in 2016, from a dealership in wa state.

The contact owns a 2016 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that there was a constant sudden loss of power and the vehicle stalled numerous times. The instrument panel warning indicators and gauges flickered. The vehicle was towed to executive Dodge Jeep (203-949-7430, located at 406 S orchard St, wallingford, ct 06492). The dealer replaced the PCV valve, but the vehicle stalled in an unsafe manner on the highway. The vehicle was towed to the dealer a second time, but the failure could not be duplicated. The third time the vehicle was taken to the dealer, they indicated that a battery replacement was required. The contact replaced the battery; however, the failure continued. The vehicle was currently at the dealer for further diagnostic testing. The contact was uncertain if a loaner vehicle would be provided. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The failure mileage was not available.

2016 Jeep kl trailhawk (V6) will randomly have no electricity/power at all. Not even to unlock doors or for the dome lights to come on. This is after the vehicle sits overnight, for 10 to 12 hours. I have to use the key to unlock the vehicle. I have to jump start it and it will run fine for days until it happens again. I have experienced this issue 5 times in the past 4 weeks. The battery is new. Replaced 12/18, and has been tested successfully by 3 different shops along with the Jeep's charging system passing all tests... all cables/ connectors are tight and clean. I never know when it will start, or not.

The contact owns a 2016 Jeep Cherokee. While driving approximately 35 mph and approaching a red light, the battery warning indicator illuminated, the transmission seized, and the vehicle lost acceleration. The contact coasted the vehicle into a parking lot and turned off the vehicle. After four attempts, the vehicle restarted. The vehicle was taken to yark Chrysler Jeep Dodge (6019 central ave, toledo, oh 43615), but they could not duplicate the failure and recommended an oil change. The failure recurred. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 36,175.

The service shifter message displays on the screen and you can't tell if the the is in dprn becuase all the lights are red. The car sometimes will not shift out of gear. Or jerks when it finally does. This care hesitates while in motion and as well as when stationary and trying to move. This is very dangerous. I have taken this vehicle to the dealer who stated that the recall they had was only for a software update with the shifter but this issue should also be a recall with them covering the repairs. I have less than 50K miles there is no reason why I should have to cover the expense of replacing the shifter assembly becuase the shifter is not covered under the warranty they sell you.
