This is safety concern! 2016 Jeep Cherokee car would stop while you driving high speed without any warning sign and all the light will come on can not shifting or restart the car. It happened on me twice already. One time on highway I-95, one time on a busy local road at pa. Jeep dealership said it was computer updating, I could not get it. After first time they repaired it, I did feel something wired with the car. So I brought it back to Jeep dealership two more time for diagnose. They all said the car had no problem. Not even a month, it happened again. Suddenly stop! this time they still trying to fix it for me, but I could not trust Jeep again. I mean if they can fix it, it would not happened again after three time what ever fix or diagnose.

My Jeep keeps breaking down while the vehicle is in motion and I have almost been in several wrecks because of it. I have now done my own research on this issue going on with cars that have my same year make and model and have been experience the same exact issues as I am all over the us. I have been speaking with some of these people who were writing these comments on the Jeep website and they have all said they are not dependable and highly unsafe as they have also almost got into wrecks because of it. At this point its only a matter of time before someone is gets hurt due to the vehicle shutting down while in motion or worse, death. Something must be done to stop the sale of this unsafe vehicle. I am stunned nothing has yet to be done about this. My car has now been in the shop since I bought it and no one can figure out what is wrong with it. I have had to take it back 3 times and the issue is not getting fixed. Now, I'm told that they are having to open some "star" thing - which has something to do with asking the manufacture if these issues are common and what to do to fix them. This is ridiculous that I have been put through hell and they don't even know if the car can be fixed. As of right now the car is completely broken down and no one knows how to fix it. All these other people are having the same issue with the dealerships not being able to figure out what is wrong so they just give the broken car back to the owner and it goes back on the road. I am telling yall this is very unsafe. Consumer stated car is fixed.

I have a 2016 Jeep Cherokee sport. My check engine light came on. I was told there was a thermostat issue. My total repair cost for this one problem was $866.06 at the paramus NJ dealer. I'm extremely disappointed that I had such an expensive repair when my car is 2016 and I have less than 50,000 miles. I'm also disappointed that I was told only dealers can update the computer on my vehicle. I have heard of several Jeep owners complaining of sensor issues noting repair work wasn't necessary. Also, with the check engine light on my auto start did not work.

Purchased vehicle on 12/14/2015. On 1/25/17, at 17,000 miles the vehicle stalled while driving through an intersection. It was raining heavily and causing a traffic issue. Law enforcement had to be called to re-direct traffic. Since the first stall, the vehicle has been to the local Dodge/Jeep dealership four times for the same issues (4/20/17, 8/18/17, 3/25/18 and 12/4/18). They have replaced coils, filters and explained the engine will shut down if it senses low oil. They continue to state the oil consumption as the reason for the stalls. They have no solution but to bring the vehicle in every 1000K miles to check the oil. The vehicle stalled again on 12/25/18. Luckily, I was in a parking lot and the vehicle behind me was going slow enough to stop. If not, I would have been hit with my toddler in the vehicle. Usually it takes several hours for the vehicle to start again but on this incident the vehicle started within 5 minutes. The vehicle is now showing a "service shifter" and the dealer stated it needed a new battery. I replaced the battery and the "service shifter" was back on within 15 days of replacing the battery. This vehicle is a safety hazard.

While driving, vehicle will decelerate and warning light appears to shift car in gear. Then car turns off. Can not use breaks, all electronics flash and coltage light alarm comes on. When taken to dealer twice, no errors found. My children drove it today and the vehicle suddenly stopped and all warning lights came in along with a message to shift the car into gear. The vehicle was dead. Took back to dealer and again no error. I have researched this and many of the same vehicles are having the same problems, but Jeep does nothing.

The contact owns a 2016 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that the liftgate failed to open with the electronic button function. The contact had to manually open the liftgate with the potential risk of being impacted by the liftgate coming down. Larry H. miller Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram boise (222 S auto dr, boise, id 83709) indicated that the vehicle was not included in a manufacturer recall campaign and diagnostic testing was needed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The VIN was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 58,000.

I've had a service shifter message appear numerous times and then disappear. When I would take it in to get looked at I was told that there was no record of that code being displayed in the car log/memory and that the service department at the delearship couldn't find anything wrong with it. Upon doing research on this message I found that many other people have had this same problem and if left unchecked can cause the vechicle to shift into park while in motion causing loss of control and accidents. I have received this message while both stationary just when I turned the car on, and also while in motion on a road.

Takata recall my 2016 Jeep Cherokee will shut off while in motion. The car died while going through an intersection. I was able to coast into a safe place, but car would not restart again after for a few hours. My husband was driving the car and came to a stop at an intersection when the car died again. The car started rolling backwards and he almost hit the car behind him. This is not safe. We have a one month old child, and I do not feel safe putting her in the car.

I purchased my vehicle new. Since having it the panel which displays the radio will randomly go black. I've also had several issues with acceleration. Sometimes if I'm at a red light and then it turns green the car will rev and not move anywhere for about 30 seconds. Yesterday while I was on the highway my speed dropped from 60 to 40 very fast and I was not able to accelerate at all and had to pull over on the side of the road and my transmission light came on. I've also been driving before and when I hit the brake it makes a noise like its shifting super loud and the brake clicks. My vehicle is in for service right now but I dont feel safe driving it at all. It only has 16,000 miles on it and shouldn't be having all of these issues with such low mileage. Yesterday not being able to accelerate on the highway was scary and dangerous.

While driving on highway, automatic 9 speed transmission seemed to lose all acceleration at around 60mph. The "service transmission" notification appeared on the display, and the vehicle started decelerating until it was necessary to pull over and park. Problem seemed fixed after an engine restart, but occurred again at higher speed (60mph). I don't know why 2016 vehicles were not included in the S55 recall, it is the same issue.

Each time I have been driving the vehicle when the brakes failed without warning the last time (4th time) my car was in the shop because the tranmission seal had a leak. While the mechanic was test driving the car the brakes failed with him. When I have had been driving the Jeep and the brakes failed I was pulling into different locations and the brakes would fail and not stop the car. The brake were as hard as a rock and just simply would not stop the car. I feel after 4 times this car is not repairable and I am now mentally anquished with driving it I am afraid the brakes will fail again and I might get into an accident because of the brake issue and possibly get hurt, killed, kill someone else this is without a doubt a safety issue. The mechanic at the dealership has even said the car is not safe. I have a case number with the Chrysler manufacturer on the case. It is# 35139860

I have had transmission issues since buying the vehicle. I have been to the dealer about 3 or 4 times to have the issue fixed and it was never fixed. Low power, hesitations in acceleration, randomly dropping speed while acceleration, and complete loss of power. It happens when in motion at all speeds but mostly at speeds under 40 mph. It all continues to this day and I have all but given up on getting Chrysler to take responsibility. I am sometimes even afraid to drive the vehicle when one or more of these symptoms happens. Chrysler needs to take responsibility. As a consumer I am entitled to get what I pay for!

I've had the Jeep less than 2 years. Only 14000 miles on it. The transmission started jerking and lundging when it down shifted or started off from a stop. My daughter and I where coming back from the human society. While driving at about 50 mph I had to slow down for on coming traffic.the Jeep shifted to a lower gear and lunged so fiercely I thought the transmission had fallen off the vehicle. The vehcle immediately shut down. I was at a complete stop. Lights started flashing service transmission. I had no power to move. Im on an over pass with traffic and theres no where to go in the middle of traffic. By chance the Jeep was able to start and accelerate to 5mph and get to a safe place to pull over. It was a very serious hazard for me and my daughter and other drivers we basically glided to a complete stop in the midst of traffic while doing 50mph. Than starting it up and only doing 4 tmph. This was clearly a very dangerous situation. I dont feel safe or confendent. I paid a premium price for a vehicle that should be dependable and safe. Now the Jeep wont start. The rear button to close the hatch has quit working. The start button will not start the car at all. When it started to malfunction. It would hesatate as if the battery where dead. When it did start the settings 'climate control would be set to defrost. The a would show up on the face without being pressed. And eventually the screen would not react to touch at all. And the radio wouldnt play. But all elise seemed to work without a problem. The windows worked fine the lights where bright. There wasnt a problem with the battery. I am applauded that Jeep would think this is acceptable for a new vehicle im the comsumer. I paid for a product that has to and is a to certain expectations.

The driver information center says service shifter. When active, the manual shift doesn't work but forward reverse and park do not seem to be affected. If you stop shut off the vehicle and restart, it clears. It started doing this 6-9 months ago once in a while but now does it several times a day depending on amount of driving. We brought it into the dealer to have it checked and they said there was no codes or physical problems but could replace the shifter to see if this would fix the problem. We elected not to do this at the present time. We have heard of accidents from this so we just wanted to notify you that it is happening. We would like to address this before an accident occurs.

On July 18, 2018 I went outside to get an item out of back of my vehicle which was stationary and I couldn't get liftgate to lift and I noticed there was smoke in my car, I opened the drivers side door and smoke billowed out. After a few minutes, I got in the vehicle and moved it back away from my house and noticed I had no A/C, radio or anything working on dashboard. I looked in back of vehicle and it was burnt in the back left corner of lift gate. I immediately called my insurance company and they had it towed to mike smith auto group in beaumont. The smell in the vehicle was awful, a combination of burnt rubber and plastic. There was a recall on this vehicle for back left liftgate in 2015 of which I took it in and supposedly it was repaired. I also immediately called the dealership of which they were no help at all and very unconcerned. I talked to my insurance company and they said if it was due to a recall I should call Chrysler corporation of which I did daily with no results. They would not let me talk to anyone, they finally sent an inspector of which he just looked at the inside of car, did not take the panels off or anything and sent to the corporation and they sent me a letter stating it was not due to recall. My insurance company sent an engineer who took the panel off and searched it thoroughly and determined it was due to the recall. I cannot get any help on this which is not my fault.

While at a stop light, my Jeep completely shut off on me and we had to start it back up and it started back up. However this has happened many times before and think they should recall this considering how many of the same complaints I am seeing on this. I have 2 kids in my car at all times and fear it doing this while driving as well. I took it to Jeep and they checked it out but now it just feels hesitant while driving. Scares me to death

As of lately, the speedometer toogles up & down through a set of numbers even after attempts are made to reduce speed especially when on cruise control. During cruise control vehicle accelerates beyond set limit & requires extreme force to decelerate. It happens randomly as does many dangerous issues mainly after a software update takes place with the vehicle. If the updates don't cause acceleration concerns it causes vehicle to shut off in traffic & over the last several months a few high risks for major traffic accidents were only avoided by the swift maneuvering of other vehicles or myself when possible to avoid collision. Never before experienced so many malfunctions of mechanical/technological problems from a vehicle. As for if the vehicle was stationary, in motion, on a city street or a highway, turning, braking etc when these issues occured the answer would be my Jeep has stalled, loss speed, shut off and/or speed up under all these conditions. Dealership has me bring it in and they flash the system to "correct" the problem. That is until the next update or some software malfunction causes unexpected scary incident to arise like now with the cruise control that needs addressing.
