About years ago I was driving my 2018 Jeep Compass, when all of a suden the lights on the dashboard went crazy blinking on and off and the radio too, then the engine turned off and the steering wheel was to hard, I took the car to the dealership to get it checked up. After a few days the dealership said there is nothing wrong with the car. But days later the car did the same thing again. Took the car back to the dealership and they kept the car for a over two weeks they said car was fix two months after that car did it again went back to the dealership and they kept the car for more than six months, they could not find the problem they change some wiring, batteries and the radio and they said its fix but no. The car keep doing the same thing, over and over no I dont feel safe driving this car specially in the highway because when it shuts off the steering wheel is very hard to maneuver and is not safe at all.

The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Compass. The contact stated that while accelerating from a stop sign, the vehicle stalled without warning. After several attempts, the vehicle was able to be restarted. The local dealer was contacted, and an appointment was scheduled, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 164,002.

Since the purchase of the car (2017), the vehicle has had the issue of excessive oil consumption causing the vehicle to burn up oil at higher unknown fluctuating rates. The vehicle doesn-??t have an oil life indicator to begin with, and the only thing that indicates you have no oil in your car is the oil pressure light that will SOMETIMES pop on and off. My car has stalled out multiple times while driving on the road and luckily has never happen on the freeway. I have been getting routine oil changes more than frequently ( anywhere from 1500-2000 miles sooner than the recommended oil change. What-??s concerning is the oil is burning up at an unknown fluctuating rate, making it hard to tell when there is any oil left in the vehicle. This is causing the vehicle to stall randomly while operating it, which ultimately can result in a devastating fatal crash in the near future. Every time I get an oil change there is little to no oil left in the vehicle. This is an issue that needs to get addressed for the safety and well being of myself, family, and others on the road.

People involved: Car purchased from CarMax- Michael Sanders is my current contact CNA- Warranty company Auto Clinic- first auto repair shop brought to. Previous owner issues- [XXX] Auxillary battery replaced-22,821 [XXX] Towed in to dealership- 2/3 qts low on oil 23, 230 [XXX] oil consumption test- 26,797 [XXX]- Restart oil test- 29,546 [XXX]- passed oil test- NOt sure how because was driven less than 40 miles- 29,583 Carmax oil change prior to purchase- [XXX] at 35,920 miles. Purchased car with 35,927 miles Drove 3,455 miles before first engine light. Current odometer reading is approximately 40,000 [XXX] Car purchased [XXX]- Called into work. Car would not go over 40 miles per hour. Service engine light and oil light on. [XXX]- Towed to Auto Clinic [XXX] Rental car from Enterprise [XXX] Rental returned and loaner issued [XXX] -Auto Clinic- [XXX] AClinic calls and says possible ring failure. CNA needs oil consumption test to determine how much oil is being burnt. AClinic recommends a tear down to determine the extent of the damage. [XXX]- Engine died on the way to work. Took day off and towed to CarMax. [XXX] Notified car is ready. Low on oil. Oil change and oil consumption test [XXX]- Picked up car after returning from out of town. Did not feel confident driving. [XXX] Service engine light is on again. Drove to CarMax/ recommendation by Chris Prayer. U110A was the diagnostic reading. Was given a loaner from CarMax. Main battery was low, draining from auxiliary battery. [XXX] car is ready to be picked up. [XXX] Reporting of door panel issue. I purchased the vehicle on [XXX] from Mall Chevy in Cherry Hill NJ. From the first day, i was getting an intermittent A! warning for the vehicle start/stop function. The vehicle would feel like it is trying to turn off when not active. Finally on [XXX], it stayed on. The entire time i have been trying to get the dealership to fix it, they refused to look at it. The transmission keeps slipping, jerking forward and back, wants to take off at a stop. They refuse to acknowledge. I finally took it to Performance Dodge in Woodbury NJ, they determined it was a defective IBS( Intelligent battery sensor). Then a BCM issue was determined and 2 wires had insulation exposed, an OHMED was needed as well as HVAC and DTCM updates. It still needs ABS and TCM module work. Vehicle loses oil, 2k-3k miles after each oil change a quart or more must be added then the same after each 1,000 miles after.

Car has been stopping while driving on major roadways. Requires a restart in the middle of a highway and does not even make it to the roadside to restart. Upon bringing it in to be checked, it had 0 but no reported leak and oil light did not turn on. Purchased used just 2 months ago and only drove 6K miles. Was told to change oil every 5K miles becuase this model consumes excessive oil. I searched and found this is a known issue however my VIN # does not show a recall.

Coolant light comes on without car actually overheating and car stalls for 2-3 seconds and then comes back on. While driving at higher speeds there is a partial stall and then cuts back on. When going from stoped with brakes and then pushing on gas, car fully stalls including unable to press on brakes and wheel is stiff. Problem continuously but randomly occurs and has been looked at by 2 different dealerships, oil consumption test is normal, and oil is topped off every 2,000 miles. Significant accident and safety concerns regarding car stalling while driving.

i bought my jeep compass 2018 5 months ago and is a defected car and has been getting into issues and the dealer ship no cooperating at all and car now is parked cuz the TCM denied (transmission control module )also the engine coolant revoir broke suddenly and they made me pay for that when I don't really drive and the car came like that and I don't know what to do the people at the dealership...... has been so rude to me and am about to loose my job I haven't been able to work and don't have money plus other privileges as two keys I should get when I got the car that I never got them only one, the hidden the warranty papers etc and I need help. You i want to sue them I've been paying for a defected car they never told me about I had road assistance and I got pay out of pocket they also charged money when didn't have to and they been placed me on where now I'm getting a heart monitor cuz I'm not doing good they have to take their bad car, pay the bank the debt and pay me back the payments I've been making plus indemnización due the mental and emotional and health damages this has caused on me and all money out of pocket I've pay for stuff in the car (fixing it) when they have told me multiple times the car was on great condition they also got me. Paper saying I bought the car as is and I never signed that paper and none of them are notarized either There's been a lot time where the car has stopped by itself and placed the emergency brake on while I'm with my 1 year old baby, driving on the hwy multiples times does that suddenly and people about to hit me vehicle, I feel really frustrated I don't have car I've been loosing work, appoiments, errands one of my kids has cevere asthma and can't me walking in this weather help me please, one air bag is bad and keeps giving me a light but I don't know which one it's and they didn't do anything am afraid about something happen to me while am with my kids

Multiple times now while driving the vehicles emergency park comes on by its self. The vehicle stops and turns off while in the middle of the road. Other vehicles have had to quickly stop and go around. Recently the engine light has appeared. It happens 1-3 times while driving. Mainly while turning a corner.

Burning through oil! No light on for oil and not to mileage for oil change. Happened to check oil this morning and there was only a tiny bit on stick like hardly any. This is not the only issue with this vehicle.

My car has completely shut off at an intersection/stop light twice. Shuts off while in drive tells me I need to start again. Emergency brake engages. One of the times I had to be towed out of the intersection. I spent $500 replacing both batteries thinking it may be that. A month later (today) car strands me at a stoplight again. Same thing car cuts off and emergency brakes engages. This time after 4 attempts I was finally able to start it to get out of way of traffic-??s.

I leased a 2018 jeep compass in the month of September that year brand new. light kept appearing on my dash that I was not familiar with. Basically it had to do with parking on a hill indicator, the radio wouldn-??t always work either, and a loud boom on Highway. However we parked the car on flat grounds at all times. That was the beginning of the malfunctioning with this vehicle. I had just got an oil change end of 2019, one day driving in an alley area with my 2year old daughter, my car literally shut off on me while driving at speeds of 10 mph. Everything shut off. Fortunately I was able to turn it back on and the next day took it to the dealership. The result was I needed a brand new engine. WHAT, it-??s a little over a year old how can this be? The oil was gone all cylinders were shot, not sure what that meant but a month without my car I received it back with a new refurbished engine. Fortunately all was covered under the manufacturer warranty. Thought the problems were solved. Nope it constantly has malfunctions with the radio, reverse camera doesn-??t always work, a loud bang happens when I-??m on the highway at the highway speed, let my foot off the accelerator and a loud bang happens. On [XXX], in the middle of an intersection my foot was on the brake and the on/off engine thing went off. Then I proceeded to accelerate and the car shut off. This time all the lights were on inside the dash area but my brake locked up so hard and the steering wheel along with the windows wouldn-??t work. I placed the car in park and the e brake and for 15 minutes tried turning it back on. It was terrifying, it turned on and brought it to the dealership and explained the situation. It-??s currently there now and at the moment they say it-??s the battery. I DO NOT feel safe in this car being that I always have my children in the car all the time. Driving at freeway speed, the engine dies. Steering wheel locks up and I coast to a stop. Very dangerous. After 10-15 minutes, Jeep will start and drive an unknown amount of time and same thing will happen. I took to a local garage because it is out of warranty. The shop manager said there is no engine code or direction for them to determine what is wrong. Internet search shows this is a huge problem with 2017-2019 Jeep Compass. However apparently not enough people know they can file a report with NHTSA or there would be a gigantic number more complaints than there are. Someone will die in a crash because of this well known issue. Hopefully something will be done before its too late. Batteries replaced, car serviced, and still continues to happen. Has happened around 5 times in last 2 weeks. An issue all over the internet and clearly a fault in manufacturing.

This motor has lots of recalls it has ran out of oil in under 2000 miles the car will stop in the middle of the road cut off and the emergency break will come on won't move until you put oil in to almost got killed 4 times dealership refused to fix it I have a extended warranty and they still refuse to replace the motor very dangerous car to be on the road

Stop Safely Will Shut Off Soon appears frequently. Car cuts off while driving. Will cut back on sometimes and sometimes not. Has been happening for at least 3 months now. It-??s well documented online that dealerships and manufacturer are aware of this issue. There is no recall issued for this situation. I want the car replaced.
