Grand Cherokee 8-cyl

  • 140,000 miles
My vehicle has randomly turned off on me twice during moderate to heavy braking. The first time was on 8/20/2019 and the second time was on 12/3/2019. I believe my issue is related to recall V62 and I am voicing my displeasure in the amount of time it is taking Fiat Chrysler to design a remedy. This recall is actually recalling a prior recall, so I would scrutinize the engineering team that they can actually come up with a sufficient remedy, but I suppose that's not my point. My point is my vehicle and over 500,000 additional vehicles are on the road with a problem that is extremely hazardous with no eta in sight. (recall related incident)

LAST NIGHT THE VEHICLE JUST STOPPED AFTER STARTING IT WHILE SITTING AT A GAS STATION. IT APPEARS THAT THE PROBLEM IS GETTING WORST. UP UNTIL NOW, THIS HAS ALWAYS BEEN A RELIABLE VEHICLE. WHICH IS REALLY NEEDED BECAUSE OF THE SHIFT I WORK, (2ND), AND THE DISTANCE OF MY COMMUTE. ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED. Fca records indicate that your vehicle VIN # [xxx] was included in previous safety recall P54 (nhtsa14V-530) or safety recall R09 (NHTSA 15V-115). My 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee is now experiencing the issues that are discussed in the safety recall V62 fuel pump relay failure. This safety concern can cause the vehicle to not start due to the fuel pump stoppage, an engine stall while stopped and/or while moving, which can cause the vehicle to crash without prior warning. This is a huge safety concern for my family and I. we have taken the vehicle to the dealership on 3 occasions concerning this issue with the fuel pump relay stoppage with no long term fixes. I have no one else to turn to and asking for your help to resolve this issue. Information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

The safety recall re the defective fuel pump is a serious safety issue, vehicle stalling at any speed without warning. The recall was issued several months ago and the manufacturer still has not been able to correct the issue, nor given a time when the parts are available.

When the engine was I complete parked and wanted to started wouldn't start after a couple tries would start without an issue, but today I have tried what I used to do and won't start, I've heard of a recall on this specific year but I have not received anything on the mail.

Notified on 12-24-19 that: "fuel pump relay safety recall" "silicon contamination on the relay contacts may cause the relay to fail. This can result in a no-start condition or an engine stall condition if the vehicle is running. A vehicle engine stall while driving can cause a vehicle crash with out prior warning." Six months after notification resolution still not available due to "parts not available." One would think that Chrysler could solve a critical situation like this within a six month time frame! I have basically left the vehicle parked. Do not dare to drive in 5 or 500 miles.

Engine stalls, wont start or dies right after starting, I think it is part of a recall with no fix available. If in motion it dies and losses power. Put in neutral to start while rolling! this happens more and more frequently lately.

Safety recall for fuel pump relay that can cause engine to stall while driving V62/NHTSA 19V-813. NHTSA #19V-813 reported in 11/2019. Complaint to Chrysler Jeep for no remedy as of June 2020.

The car was in the shop twice to rectify a fuel pump issue. As of right now, the check engine light is still on and the error continues to be the fuel pump. There was a second recall in November 2019 with no solution. The car failed to start multiple times due to the fuel pump and I feel unsafe driving the car with a history of fuel pump error since the car could stall mid driving.

I bought this car from liccardi Chrysler Dodge Ram in green brook, NJ in February, 2020. Immediately, the car engine stalled, turning off power steering, power brakes, and gas. I had the car towed to liccardi, they claimed it was the oil pan leak and I spent $2,000 on repairs. Since then, the car has stalled 4 times, coming to a stop. Still, liccardi refuses to admit the problem, saying they can not duplicate it and they are not aware of a recall or a remedy for a recall. I am out of options and desperately need help.

Received a recall notice in November 2019, and still no part available from Chrysler. My Jeep is having the issue related to the recall and they don't know when it will be available. There is temporary part available at the dealer that they can put in the meantime, but I have to pay for the diagnosis and the part and labor and if they agree, they may reimburse me for some of it. That is not okay, because if the original part was available by know, I wouldn't have to pay for anything! the recalled part, fuel relay issues, causes the engine to stall with out warning, while your running or not start at all. I shouldn't have to pay for an issue due to a recall. Six months to come up with a recalled part is a little long to make "minor fix" as I've been told 15 times!

My Jeep has stalled at least 5 times with the power steering failing. 1) once while at an intersection turning left on a green arrow no steering. 2) traveling about 45 mph and stalled again and no steering. 3) twice going from 55 mph up to a stop sign and the car stalled again no steering. 4) just last Friday, I was driving 55 mph and slowing to make a left turn and again stalled and no power steering. This is getting serious and happens unexpectedly which makes driving dangerous. The stalling is happening more frequently now. I've contacted Jeep and they say a recall has been issued but no fix has taken place and is to be determined with no idea when. The recall was issued late last year. So how long does it take to fix a relay issue? this has gone on far to long and getting scary. Please help me and get some kind of answer from Jeep. Sincerely, [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

On 4/10/2020 I was idling in gear in a fast food drive-thru lane. I could hear and feel the engine start to sputter. I put the car into park and tried applying gas to keep the engine at a higher rev. After about a minute the engine stopped. I tried multiple times to get the vehicle to start but all it did was to have an extended crank time without it starting. I was able to get some help to push it out of the way of other vehicles. After about 5 minutes of sitting I was able to start it and drive it home. I have had multiple occurrences of this issue. The last time was while I was entering and turning in a busy intersection. Another time was while I was 25 miles down a dirt road. I have had the tipm and/or the fuel pump(s) replaced at a Jeep dealer at least three times. I do not feel comfortable driving this vehicle under any condition! I use it to tow my trailer and to go off-roading. What would happen if I was doing either one of these at the time of a failure!

The vehicle has been at Jeep in excess of 45 days for repairs. On an intermittent basis I have experienced problems starting my Jeep. Then, on December 25, 2019, I receive the V62 fuel pump relay recall for my Jeep. I called the fca recall assistance center service number. They were of no assistance. NHTSA: Request #254540 complaint (tracking number) id: 11 29 23 50. On or about December 31, 2019, I filed a complaint with the NHTSA. On January 2, 2020, responded that Fiat needed to be given time to find a fix. This was confirmed in a telephone call with NHTSA on January 3, 2020. The Jeep continued to have problems with not starting. On March 23, 2020, my housemate was driving the Jeep. He pressed on the accelerator. Nothing happened. He coasted to the breakdown lane and restart the vehicle. The lightning bolt symbol was on the dash. He decided to return home. A few minutes later the same thing happened again. We have not driven the Jeep again. On the morning of March 24, 2020, we had it towed to lithia Chrysler Jeep of reno. Lithia diagnosed it as having a faulty fuel pump relay subject to the safety recall V62 fuel pump relay. Fiat refused again to engage in any discussion of buyback. Fiat has had over three months and presumably several more months 'to develop a solution' yet it has not. My Jeep sits in my driveway undrivable, a worthless piece of unsafe junk. There is no repair available. There are no like vehicles available (they all have the same problem). Under federal regulations, fca must buy-back my Jeep. I would like to have this federally mandated remedy implemented.
