The oil filter housing is cracked and it is a known issue with my vehicle.one morning there was a large amount of oil under my vehicle. At this time there are so many open issues with this defected part that I am unable to get this part cause there are 5800 people in line before me waiting for this part. I am unsure where to start to have this recalled but I would like to move in the direction of having that done. Please help! I need to have this done? I read online that there was a possible petition started for this very issue.

The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving 65 mph, the vehicle shut-off without warning. The contact coasted the vehicle to the side of the road and the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where he was informed that they could not service the vehicle. The contact then towed the vehicle to salt lake valley Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram (2309 state St, salt lake city, ut 84115) where the contact was informed that the engine had seized due to no coolant. The contact was also informed that the vehicle needed a new engine due to the failure. Upon investigation, the contact discovered that the VIN was included in NHTSA campaign number: 20V699000 (engine and engine cooling) which he linked to the failure. The dealer was notified of the failure and a fca representative was to inspect the vehicle. The contact was informed that the failure was not related to the recall. The manufacturer was sent an email informing them of the failure experienced. The contact was informed that the case had been closed. The manufacturer re-opened the case to determine collateral damage. The manufacturer called back and the case was closed once again. The vehicle was not repaired and remained in the possession of the dealer. The failure mileage was 121,929.

Nothing has happened yet but there is a recall out (W79) to replace the egr cooler as an engine fire could occur. Was notified of this recall nearly 4 months ago and yet Jeep says there are still no parts available to do it. Can you get on their case to get this done?

2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited 3.6L -67K miles. Cracked oil filter housing. Noticed a small oil leak fall 2020 on my garage floor after oil change from local Chrysler dealership. Late winter 2021 noticed the leak was bigger on garage floor. Checked under car around oil pan. Oil pan nut area was clean of oil, but oil was dripping down engine and over exhaust and onto the transmission. Noticed oil puddling inside transmission skid plate. Looked online for causes and found the oil filter housing was known to crack on these engines. I located my oil filter near the top of the engine and found oil all around the base of the housing. The filter neck was clean of oil, just a pool of oil at the base of the neck!! looked up Chrysler recalls and nothing reported for this part. But did find many same engine owners complaining of this same problem! read many articles about this product being made of plastic and failing. All of my oil changes have been from the same local Chrysler dealership. Did they cause this by over tightening oil filter" or is this truly a defect product and Chrysler is waiting for a vehicle to catch fire or a death before a recall is issued? are vehicle engine fires caused by oil leaking onto extremely hot engine/transmission/exhaust parts?"

The oil filter housing is made of plastic and attached to the motor. High failure rate as evidenced by the 40,000 part backorder status of the part. Causes moderate to severe oil leak when cracked, and engine failure if it breaks completely. Leaves an oily mess wherever it is parked. Oil will blow back onto other vehicles and vehicle will be stall and be stranded when motor locks up due to no oil. $600+ repair costs. Affects some Dodge, Jeep, and Chrysler vehicles. Unable to repair stalled vehicles because part is unavailable. Est wait time is over a month. Part number is 68105583af. There is no excuse for the company not to take responsibility for putting a plastic connector inside an engine housing. It's common sense. I was left stranded on a busy road and had to be towed. I personally know of two others also. Our vehicles are useless because of this. To make matters worse, dealers are now overcharging for the part. Normally $199, now charging over $300.

I noticed an oil leak, through a little research I thought it was the oil cooler/oil filter adapter. I took it to a shop and they confirmed it but told me that there was a nationwide back order on the part. I was told that 37,000 units are on back order. I feel that there is definitely a problem with this part, I think that oil leaks could lead to possible safety issues and possible damage to the engine

The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 85,000.

I bought this Jeep in 2018 with low miles 40,000 now in 2021 has 68,000. I have been driving the car only to go work and working from home I wasn't driving that much. Suddenly while driving I noticed a light on and it was on and off, and oil smell. I took it for the diagnostic and the code misfire detected in cylinder number 3., P0303, which is a problem with the engine. The price is 4000 to fix the problem because is a misfire in one of the cylinders of the engine. The car is not working properly because it has a oil smell and some issues when I am driving such as shaking and also a weird sound. This is the only car that I have right now and I am scare to drive it because I don't think it is safe to drive it with oil smell, it might caught on fire or something. The starter is not working and when driving is unstable. I just drive locally I don't know how this car is giving me an engine problem with that low mileage. It is not possible that a car parked and using not often could have an engine problem. I bought this car thinking to keep it for a long time since I always take a good care of my cars. I need an explanation from Jeep regarding this problem. I am not going to spend over $4000 in a car with less than 100,000 miles and with a problem that was not done by me. I need to resolve this since it might be a safety risk if I continue driving this car with some type of engine/ oil smell. When I parked the car a strong burned oil smell comes out and goes inside the car.

Took my vehicle to browns Chrysler Jeep Dodge today in patchogue NY today as I noticed oil leaking from under carriage. It was told to me that the oil filter housing assembly is broken. Contacted my local car repair ( tire city, shirley NY ) to get information on this situation and also see how much they would charge. In the conversation, it was mentioned that they also had this similar problem and had many Jeep come in lately with the same problems. I have also contacted and had them record the issue with Chrysler head quarters in mi. I believe as well as the owner of tire city in shirley NY, that there should be an investigation on this as well as a recall.

Hello, my vehicle has had a number of recalls for emissions and drive train. Due the number of modifications by Jeep, my vehicle's performance has been negatively affected to a point that sometimes it is dangerous to drive. Every software update results in lower mileage and sluggish performance. Now Jeep is slow rolling egr recall and letting a dangerous situation to develop.

Chrysler has a recall for the egr cooler on the Dodge Ram ecodiesel (VB1/NHTSA 19V-757) this is the same engine and egr cooler as the Jeep Grand Cherokee ecodiesel. There have been reports of Grand Cherokee 3.0 ecodiesel vehicles catching fire and burning to the ground. Jeep currently does not have a fix for this issue or parts for it, yet we are still allowed to drive around in our vehicles. This is unacceptable.

I have took my vehicle for a shifter recall. They did a programming they said and that it should have fixed the problem. I explained to Chrysler capital about how my vehicle would shift into neutral after throwing itself into other gears. I would have to turn off the vehicle and begin driving again. Now my vehicle hardly drives and the transmission makes a loud cracking noise. This recall made my transmission go out.

To whom it may concern: I am a srt owner who loves his truck, but not happy with the design of the 6.4 hemi engine. As one of the highest costing Jeep in your line up I would assume I would have no problems with it after 77,000 miles. Unfortunately, my engine had lifter failure which destroyed my engine. This happened on the throggs neck bridge while I was driving with my family. Upon further research I've found hundreds of other srt owners suffered the same problem incurring thousands of dollars if they didn't blow their engine from the flaw of the design of the engine. At this point how is there not a recall? does it take a class action lawsuit because this is unheard off. Completely disappointed and would never buy another Jeep let alone recommend buying anything from Jeep Chrysler Fiat. Sincerely, [xxx] 2014 Jeep srt owner information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
