While in motion in highway speeds my Jeep Grand Cherokee 2015 began to stall and suddenly turned off. The truck would not acclerate once I turned it on and I couldn't change gears. As this occured I began to lose control and nearly crashed into traffic. This is not the first incident as this has occured severaal times each resulting in near fatal collisions. I have reached out several time to the Jeep dealers who have already fixed the so called problem 3 times and keep telling me there is nothing wrong with the truck.

Recall# W58 there is currently no fix for this. Our car stopped, will not start and had to be towed to the dealer which is where we found out about the recall. Even if there's no fix, shouldn't we the consumer been notified of a recall that poses a potential safety issue? I have no vehicle, with no fix and the Chrysler refuses to provide a loaner vehicle. Our contacts with Chrysler have yielded nothing but a promise for a case manager to call. Nothing. No vehicle, no fix, no loaner.

Transmission does not shift properly from 2nd to 3rd. While in motion it will rev up and then sometimes decide to shift properly. It has shifted into neutral while driving and jerked. I have taken it to 2 different dealerships and one states because there are no error messages and supposedly it doesn't do it for them there is nothing they can do. The other dealership stated that's how the transmission is supposed to work. I have also been told the vehicle needs to warm up first. Excuse me? they tell me it's a non serviceable vehicle unless there are any error codes. One dealership stated they cleared they computer and updated the programming. This has happened several times. Most recent issue, July 9th, started to drive and vehicle self shifted back into neutral. Vehicle is becoming more unreliable each day.

Grand Cherokee 6-cyl

  • 30,000 miles
I purchased my Grand Cherokee with 30K miles. Before I even made my first payment, the transmission was replaced through manufacturers warranty. Days after driving it off the lot, it would slam down through gears during deceleration and jump/jerk when shifting up. A loud metal thud accompanied these jolts between gears every time. Fast forward to today, and 25K miles later (Jeep has 55K total) and this problem appears to be returning. Random jolts and jerky shifts during acceleration and deceleration, specifically when going up or down a slope or when getting back on the gas to accelerate when driving. The deceleration and downshift between gears is so jarring sometimes when slowing down that myself and passengers will have our heads bang forward and seatbelt catch the weight of our bodies. The thud noise is coming back randomly as well when this happens. With only 5K miles left on manufacturer power train warranty, I'm nervous that having it's 3rd transmission in less than 60K miles is going to be a future problem again not covered by warranty. I feel very unsafe when driving what was supposed to be my dream vehicle and the largest loan in my life other than purchase of house. Since the day I left the lot it has felt uncomfortable driving and causes me anxiety because of the way it shifts and makes noises. The hard jerks and slamming downshifts have almost caused multiple accidents and I honestly hate having to drive this vehicle. (I have only owned it for 16 months.) the date I selected was when I purchased vehicle, problem has been ongoing since then.

Grand Cherokee 6-cyl

  • 62,000 miles
Service shifter message appeared at 62,000 miles upon starting engine and shifting into any gear or turning on cruise control. Will go away after approx. 5 seconds but occurs every time the car operates. Is not showing any error codes and appears to be a recurring issue for many owners and related to wiring harness and shifter.

I have been aware that my model of Jeep has a history of problems and legal suits concerning the gear shift. My Jeep is an automatic transmission as decoded by the VIN. The shift selector has all of a sudden been saying service shifter. And as the days have gone by the problem is getting worse. Now if I put the vehicle in park it indicates that it is in park on the dash, when I let go of the brake without touching anything it then goes into neutral on its own. This has caused multiple times now where I have stepped out of the car or turned it all the way off while it indicated it was in park but in fact it had switched itself to neutral causing the car to roll. Luckily it has not cause any harm to persons or property. This is a serious concern/defect in the way it is operating and it is putting the public safety in jeopardy. I have search and it says there are no active recalls for this problem or in fact any for my car. I feel that this is a serious electronic malfunction and should not be a responsibility of mine to fix. In the days of manual (lever action) gear shifters this would not be possible. This seems to be an electronic issue as the computer is somehow changing the gear from park to neutral on its own. In a conventional gear selector you would have to physically go through reverse to get to neutral from park. With electronics these days there is no human error of accidentally moving down to neutral. It is doing this all on its own and if you are not careful or paying attention it could cause the car to roll down a heel out of control with nobody inside to stop it. Or even worse while my 8 month old daughter is inside and I get out of the car to go to the back to get her and it start rolling.... please assist and look into this very important and concerning issue. Has been occurring over the past month randomly.

2015 Grand Cherokee altitude- 3.6L. Just hit 95000 miles and suddenly car continues to up shift to 8th gear even at lower speeds. When accelerator is depressed, car will downshift but with no acceleration depressed, car will move all the way to 8th. Downhill, trans won't shift beyond 3rd gear likely to engine braking only. This is my 5th Jeep and my 4th time dealing with this issue across my Jeep.

Service shifter light comes on while the vehicle is in motion on the highway. Has occurred multiple times and has been checked out by Jeep service centers twice. They can not find the problem. During one drive, the service shifter light came on but also, the complete dashboard, including speedometer and engine indicators all when black and engine started to slow. Within about 20 sec, it would recover. This occurred several times over a one hour drive.

My car goes from drive, to park, to neutral or reverse with little to no touch of the gear shifter. This is a huge safety issue, as recently assuming I was still in drive mode, noted that the gear had actually shifted to neutral. Had it shifted to reverse instead, my children and I could have been badly hurt, likely found to be at fault, consequently also facing financial anguish. Also, the gear shifts while in motion, which is even additionally dangerous being that I live in a city where the highway is my primary method of traveling.

Arrived home 10:15pm dry roads and weather. Backing Jeep into driveway and went to full throttle back to hit the garage structure and door. Shifted two drive to move out into the driveway and went to full throttle forward, across the street, through the swale into a vacant lot and hit the avista power transformer box knocking its off the base and pulling the 7,000 volt power cables out. Jeep then stopped and I backed it back into the driveway and stopped. Avista crew arrived and safed the transformer. Resulting damage was $3,007 to house and garage door, $16,275 damage to front/back/undercarriage on Jeep and about $4,880 to replace the avista transformer. Car rental now 60 days at $42 per day. Estimated total is now $26,682.

Grand Cherokee

  • 60,000 miles
At approximately 60,000 miles the vehicle had just been serviced and new tires were installed. We left the next morning for a vacation. About 100 miles down the limited access highway and traveling at 65 to 70 miles per hour the dash and information touch screen began flashing and a chime began repeating. The windshield wipers began operating at high speed. (it was clear, calm and about 65˚ F. different messages began flashing: One said to stop and place the vehicle in park, another said to keep driving and not turn the engine off. When able to exit the highway the Jeep would only allow selection of drive or neutral. It would not allow reverse, which made it difficult to turn around. The vehicle did make it back 100 miles to the dealership but would not shift and lights flashed and chimes dinged the entire way. The dealer informed me that an electronic system associated with the transmission has failed and will cost approximately $1,000 to replace.

I have a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee with 49,000 miles. In a three day period the transmissions started to have problems shifting a total of five times. It would violently start to shudder while in motion at highway speeds and nearly caused a terrible accident. I had to bring vehicle to complete stop on highway and restart. I took the vehicle to planet Jeep in flagstaff, AZ for check as it is still under warranty. I was told that they cannot re create the issue and if they have to remove transmission pan to inspect I will be liable for cost of repair. I called fca customer service two times and they do not return my calls. I feel this is a dangerous problem that has potential for death or serious bodily injury and am not sure who to turn to at this point.

I have the 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee ecodiesel that received the emissions update required by the epa diesel settlement which Chrysler fca. I noticed substantial lag problems the instant I pulled out onto the open road after the update from Bonneville Jeep in manchester nh. The vehicle is dead off the line and there is a 2-3 second turbo lag at all speeds. You end up giving more throttle than you want because the response is so delayed, and then you get a massive surge of full throttle which can be unsettling and make the vehicle unstable in a turn. Very scary to ride when my wife or kids are driving who aren't used to the issue. Pulling out into busy intersections, even with a warmed up engine is a dangerous, white knuckle experience as the vehicle crawls like a tortoise into the middle of intersections before the power finally comes after 2-3 seconds.. the service department is sympathetic but says corporate has turned its back on their reports of complaints. I believe the so-called settlement documents should be voided by a new class action suit - the terms of the settlement and their ad materials and even their customer service voice response recording say that there will be no loss of power, no impact on drivability or smoothness, and no change in mileage. All of these are untrue. They have destroyed the drivability and joy of owning these vehicles. More than that - they have made these vehicles extremely dangerous to drive. We've been scammed. Chrysler should be forced to buy back these vehicles. I may be trading mine in.. my 3rd and final Jeep.

Grand Cherokee

  • 34,000 miles
We had our 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee worked on to repair the issues per NHTSA recall # 16V-240. Recently, the Jeep alerted me as I was driving at a speed of approx. 35 mph that the "autopark has been disabled." My dealer is unable to figure out why this recall/software update has failed and rendered the "additional mechanism to mitigate the effect of operator error in failing to shift the monostable gear selector into park prior to exiting the vehicle" currently useless.
