I too have had an issue with the rear window. One failed a few years back and was under warranty. Recently the driver side rear window has failed. My extended warranty expired 12/30/2010. Figures. I guess I am out $400 but Jeep is out on ever selling me another vehicle. Chrysler please take care of you customers and recall this defect and I will consider you for future business. Otherwise I will tell everyone I know NOT to buy Jeep.

Pretty bad when you google Jeep 2006 Liberty the autocomplete shows rear window.

this problem should be covered under manufacturers warranty because the part is made of plastic and can just break anytime. Jeep made it so affordable but you end of spending too much for cheap parts. this is my 4th window and i would say its much cheaper to trade it in for another car but the value is horrible.

This is not the first time this issue has happened! The first time the dealership took care of it because it fell under warranty... Now I am 3,000 miles over warranty and the dealer quoted me at 400 providing they didn't have to replace the window too. If you put a product out and there is something wrong with it, then YOU NEED TO REPLACE IT FOR FREE!!!!! I can understand if the car is 10 years old with over 100,000 miles on it. But 4 years old with not even 50,000 miles, that is robbery... Sorry Jeep/Dodge/chrysler I will be shopping with Ford next time.

I have had the regulators break on the windows of my 2006 Jeep Liberty five times. Yes, one broke twice. The first time, they covered it at the dealership under my regular warranty. Then, several months later both of my driver side regulators broke, and the service manager covered it under my extended warranty (after begging) for $100. Now this Fall, both of my passenger side window regulators have broken, and I have them staying up with a board because my warranty won't cover it. Everytime a window fell I was at work, came outside to go home, and it had just fallen partially or all of the way down on its own. I would try to roll it up and hear that awful grinding sound. I know it is a continued problem, I have spoken to several mechanics and the dealer about it, and they all know it is an issue with this vehicle. Why don't they just recall this part?!?! I love the off-roading capabilities of my 4x4, and even took it up several mountains in Colorado; but after all of this window mess my husband and I will be buying another brand of off-roading vehicle in the future.

THIS IS THE THIRD TIME THAT I HAVE HAD THIS HAPPEN TO THIS WINDOW ( rear driver side) IN THE LAST THREE YEARS I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE REGULATOR ON EACH OF THE WINDOWS ON MY 2006 JEEP LIBERTY TWICE EACH FROM TWO DIFFERENT DEALERS. I WAS TOLD JUST TODAY THAT DUE TO THE REGULATORS BEING SO BAD THAT MOST DEALERS WONT EVEN LOOK AT THE CAR FOR TRADE-IN. THESE JEEPS NEED TO BE RECALLED ASAP....

This is our second round with the regulators in the power windows of our '06 Liberty failing and windows dropping. First time all 4 were fixed under warranty. 2 1/2 years later they are starting again going in the same order as they first did. Now Chrysler won't fix it even tho 2 out of 4 reps I spoke to have said the faulty parts were replaced with more faulty parts and now they have made new ones....said it was their bad and it would be fixed. But here I am 5 days with the car into dealer and no fix for it from Chrysler. Were looking at new 2010 Liberty...nope....going to Ford now!

Add me to the club! 2 Windows in my Jeep Liberty are now being held up with a board. No - Jeep couldn't make it easy could they, lets really make things expensive and make the jeep liberty owners have to replace the regulator AND the Glass!!! Yea, lets do that. this is absolutely bad for customer service.

I have always loved my Jeep and was planning to buy another next year and give my Liberty to my daughter - now? NO Way! If Chrysler can't see that this is a DEFECT and recall these then I do not want to own another Jeep!!!! So Chrylser people - YOU'VE LOST A CUSTOMER!!!

Had the same issue as everyone else. Back window, driver side. Rolled it down, tried to roll it back up, heard a grinding sound and the window wouldn't go back up.

Calling Chrysler today to see if they'll fix it.

Also have a 2008 Grand Caravan which is also a doozy. Had it in 6 times already for various issues (mostly electronic). Things like my wife got stuck in the van one time and couldn't get out due to an electronic problem.

Starting to think that whole Daimler/Mercedes quality control thing didn't really register with the boys over in Chrysler when they were one company.

3 weeks after my last window repair, the same thing has happened with the back seat driver side window now. This time I was out of town while parked in a parking lot. When the car was left, all windows were up. When I returned, the window was down. It is exactly the same thing that happened 3 weeks ago.

So, I have no choice but to get repaired since the car cannot be in the rain, but I do plan to discuss it with dealership - 2 rear windows in 3 weeks @ $389.45 = ONE VERY UNHAPPY JEEP OWNER!!! * NOTE to everyone - unfortunately you will never be able to keep any personal items in your car (whether it is locked or not) because your windows will just fall open and whatever is in your car can and will be taken!

My car was parked for 4 hours in between getting back from lunch and leaving for the day. When I went to leave work I noticed my back window was down all the way. This is at least the 13 time one of the regulators has broken in my Liberty. I will be taking it to the dealer to fix next week. I received a call from Jeep about 3 weeks ago stating that they are issuing an extended warranty on this issue and would be refunding the money that I have spent to have it fixed. However, they only had on record 4 of the times I have had to pay. They told me that my case was probably split and someone else would be contacting me about the rest of my refund. I did get a check from them for $200 but I have receipts for an additional $800 that they didn't account for. To date, I haven't heard from anyone else about the rest of the money they owe me. I asked the lady what to do when it breaks again and she said just to take it to the dealer and I shouldn't have to pay for because it should be covered under the warranty. She also said to her knowledge they still aren't issuing a recall. Apparently someone has to be maimed or killed to get Chrysler to issue a recall on this issue. I'm also filing a complaint with US DOT every time it breaks. Maybe the government can force a recall.

i was so annoyed to find that the entire time i was working my jeep was out in the parking lot open for the world to enter. my rear driver side window fell down, I NEVER USE IT! i have to go to school at a university and it is so not acceptable to leave it that way. i had to leave straight from work to find a dealer that would take me that day so they could rig it up. they said it wouldn't be covered under my extended warranty. so i went home called my extended warranty and they finally said they would cover it. now i've been waiting and nothing yet!! this jeep has been nothing but problems since i bought it. i want to trade it in!

There has to be more of us out there with this problem. The second I explaiined what was going on the guy says Jeep has had this problem--no recall. No sorry, no nothing. Planned breakage to keep the parts guys working? Not a bad plan for them... Clearly bad design.

I've had 6 of my 4 window regulators break (not typo- 2 of them broke twice). The dealer insists that this is not a manufacturer's defect. I'm not really sure what Chrysler's definition of 'defect' is, but if a part breaks 100% of the time then it should be considered defective.

This has big a huge pain in the ass. Each time one break, not only do I have to pay for it but I have to leave it at the shop for a couple of days and find other ways to work. This wouldn't be so bad if it happened once, but 6 times really pisses me off. I've been a Jeep guy in the past, but after seeing how little Chrysler cares about customer satisfaction, I'm never buying a Chrysler product again.

We bought our first Jeep in 2007..Since then all 4 of my window regulators have broke..They keep telling me that it is not a safety issue. But in my opinion it is.I have a child who sits in the back. And every time the window has broke it falls straight down and hard. I fear that one day one of these windows will break and hurt my child. Furthermore my A/c has gone out and my clutch is going out! This has been the worst investment we have ever made! Not to mention my Jeep only has 45,000 miles on it.

Just two months after having paid to replace the regulator in the left rear passenger window, the same problem happened with the window on the right. It was the same exact issue. The window was lowered and then never came back up. I didn't even bother to fix it this time.

I was out driving and had lowered the rear passenger window to cool off until the a/c kicked in. When I went to raise the window, it would not come back up. I could hear the motor going, but the glass seemed to be stuck. I took the Jeep to a window repair place where the mechanic mentioned that he saw this kind of problem all the time. I even had to wait for the part to become available because it was on back order.

About a year ago the rear drivers window regulator went out. Yesterday the front passengers regulator went out. I came out to get into my Liberty to go home and the window was down. I was alarmed that someone had tried to break into my car and then I tried to roll the window up. Surprise! Another window regulator gone bad. I am really PO'd now! I will be calling Jeep this morning to lodge my complaint and hopefully get the same help that others on this forum have had. How many broken regulators is it going to take before they recall these pieces of crap?

I have been a loyal Jeep/Chrysler owner for 10 years and 6 different vehicles. The driver window started to "come off track" and then the driver side back seat window dropped into the door. When I spoke to the service manager at my dealership he knew the problem immediately and the approximate cost without even looking it up. When I asked him how he knew this he said it was a common problem with the 2006 Liberty and they had to replace a plastic window regulator part with a metal one. I asked why Chrysler had not recalled this part and he said I needed to call Chrysler to get that answer. I called Chrysler on 7/19 and they have promised to respond within one business day. They are on the clock....
