We were driving in Portland, ME on vacation. The dealer wanted 2 days to fix it. Went to Portland Glass, no parts but blocked the window with wood to keep closed. Fixed on return to Fresno, Ca. (July, 2012).

On Nov. 2, 2013, different window dropped with a clunk while driving. Thought we were hit by something!

Dealer wants almost $300 to fix. Back to American Glass. Need Saturday appointment to fix it. Another $220.00 approx.

They have now fixed three of the 4 windows on this car. Definitely defective regulators!

I purchased a 2006 jeep liberty. Bought it brand new and it still only has less than 37, 000 miles. At 14, 000 miles the back window regulator broke. Since it was out of warranty due to the 3 year warranty it cost me $300. Within thos time both back window regulators broke 2times each. Cost me about $300 each time to fix.!!!! Jeep needs to issue a recall on these. Customer service sucks also. I asked for a superv isor to call me back. Was told 24 hours. Well 3 days later I called Nd they said a supervisor called me and got my voicemail. I did not have any missed calls or a message. They are just a bunch liars. I also have lots of problems with my 2005 chysler town and country minivan. At 15, 000 miles my front axl dropped off my car. I will stay away from chrysler/jeep for my next vehicles. I will also tell EVERYONE I know to stay away!!!!! Thanks for nothing chrysler/jeep!!!!

I bought my Jeep in 2006. At 2,000 miles I had to have the rear passenger window regulator fixed (Under warranty). At 6,000 I had to have the rear driver window regulator fixed (under warranty). At approximately 30,000 miles once again I had to have the rear passenger regulator repaired and then about 6 months later replace the drivers rear again (at my own expense).

As of today, at 68,000 miles on the dot ,both rear passenger window regulators and the front passenger regulator are broken. I went to a local auto glass company and they were kind enough to raise the window glasses out of the door and rig them so that they stayed raised.

Chrysler has offered no assistance with this matter. The dealership is trying to charge for both the glass and the regulators. I think this whole situation is ridiculous. My father works for Chrysler and I will NEVER buy another Chrysler vehicle.

I bought my Jeep Liberty about 3 years ago, It has been a great running vehicle, but the rear window on the drivers side broke not long after I bought it, I was told it was the window regulator and that Jeep had a major problem with these parts on the Jeep Liberty and should recall them. About a year ago the front drivers side window developed the same problem. The window regulator has broken and now It is an embarrassment to drive my jeep due to the door stops pushed down in the molding to hold the window up and having to open the door to conduct business at a drive thru, or to talk to someone. This was a terrible option when I was a smoker as once you let the window down a little to blow smoke out and tip the ashes out, the window remained open even in winter, or summer and you just had to deal with it. I have since quit smoking so I dont have this problem as much.

Jeep knows that the Liberty had faulty window regulators and should recall this part, especially on 2006 Jeep Liberty!!!

Update from Apr 20, 2014: Just had the window regulator fixed for the SEVENTH time. 3 out of 4 windows have been replaced numerous times due to the same problem. This should be a recall. Will never buy a Jeep again!

This is the third time a window regulator has gone out on this vehicle. My son loves his Liberty, but this is a pain especially when rain is in the forecast. When the regulator goes out, the window falls down. I hope the plastic covering holds until we can get it repaired. I was surprised to see all of the complaints, but no recall. I am going to file a complaint with the NC Consumer Report Section of the Attorney General's Office.

Left rear window just fell down one day and I couldn't get it back up. I took it to a Jeep dealership and was told that my warranty was no longer valid due to the age and the mileage of the vehicle. I then was forced to spend $400 fixing it. 2 WEEKS LATER my RIGHT REAR window goes out, same problem. Another $400 down the drain.

$800 altogether to get this JEEP problem fixed. I'm assuming the other two windows are going to fall down at any minute now. So if you decide to get a 2006 Jeep Liberty, be prepared for a $1600 HIDDEN COST to fix the windows when they fall. This vehicle is not worthy of the Jeep name.

window regulator breaks

This happened originally somewhere in late-May... my driver's side window started to get stuck while being opened or closed, and eventually something inside of the door just broke, and the window fell down into the door. I brought it to a mechanic I trust very much (who has been extremely honest and helpful with me on many occasions in the past few years) to check it out. He opens the door and notices that the window regulator is broken in half. Looking up ways to order a new part for me, he realizes that this part is covered under my extended warranty, and gives me the good news. He also finds out in the process that my rear suspension lower control arm is recalled, and that it is also covered. So I call my local Chrysler dealership and book a visit to have them fix these things. Note that my driver's side REAR window is also broken from about 5 years ago, but as it was not a vital window, a mechanic in the past just jammed it closed from the inside, and we never went far enough into research to find out it was covered. Bad research on my part, I know.

So, I take it to the dealership, and leave it there. I get a call in a few hours to tell me that my suspension is fixed, but that they did not have time to fix my window, and I need another appointment. So I made one within the next few days, and bring it back, and have their shuttle driver bring me home. I then get a call after most of the day has gone by, saying a part is missing inside of the window (part of the regulator), and they cannot replace it with a new part unless I give them back the old part. I call my original mechanic, and he states that nothing was removed from the door, they had only opened it to find out what was wrong. This is a guy I know and trust... so I honestly believe him. He wouldn't lie for money, he's done free work for me on many occasions in the past and is an incredibly nice guy. As a side note, I had asked Chrysler for another shuttle ride to get my car, and the shuttle driver didn't even knock on my door. He showed up, apparently sat in my driveway for 3 minutes, then was pulling out when I happened to glance out the window to see what was taking so long. I wasn't going to stand in my driveway for 30 minutes waiting for him, but apparently that is "his policy" because he's "not a damn taxi". I barely caught him as he was leaving, and I was running out there. I was in silent tears during the drive in the shuttle because he was so rude with me, and I'm very shy and docile by nature.

I call the Chrysler dealership back, and they tell me that they cannot help me unless I find the old part. My mechanic again asserts that NO parts were removed, and smells something shady on the part of the dealership. He tells me that there is another Chrysler dealership about 30 minutes out of town, and that he has a relative who works there. He tells me he will call them to explain the situation, and hopes they will help me. I receive a call from him again in a while to say that this new dealership is aware of the situation, as he spoke with them at length to explain it all to them. My mechanic asks me to bring my car to him for a little while, so he can describe in detail what is wrong inside of the door to the dealership over the phone; that way, I don't drive out there after a long nightshift of nursing, only to be turned away again. The dealership says that there is no problem, that the part will be waiting for me, and that it should be a brief visit.

At this time, I've been driving around with nothing but a plastic tarp covering my window for a week or so... I'm scared to park it anywhere for fear of break-ins and this is during the rainy season. So, I had been avoiding doing errands or even getting groceries because I worried about break-ins. I'm a single mom with a 5 year old son, and I work full-time (needing to leave my car vulnerable overnight in our work parking lot)... it was highly inconvenient and stressful to say the least.

After my night shift, I drive the half-hour out of town to the other dealership. Their service was brisk, rude and a little dismissive. I sat in the waiting area for about 2.5 hours, trying desperately to stay awake. The service guy comes back to the counter, and hands me my key saying "the part is broken, and we need the old part to fix it". I stared dumbstruck at him, because I was under the impression that they had already DEALT with this issue, were aware of my problem beforehand, and was assured they would at least TRY to fix it. He shrugged and gave me back my key, and I went home. Since my mechanic's shop is on the same street I live on, I drove in on my way home. Seeing my duct-taped window still broken, he got very upset, saying he couldn't believe they didn't help me after everything he did to ensure I wouldn't drive out there for nothing. He apparently called them and really let them have it, because he thought I was a nice girl having a hard time and didn't deserve this crap (his words, heh).

I called the dealership back AGAIN, asking if there was ANY way I could get this part fixed, since my warranty would shortly expire, and I was desperate. They told me that since I could or would not return the broken part (that has vanished into a black hole somewhere, it seems), I would have to pay for it out of pocket and be charged for labour. I asked them if that was the case, could they simply order the part, and have it sent to my own mechanic? Since he was the only one genuinely trying to help me, I was done dealing with the dealership at this point. They say yes, and within a few more days, the part arrives at my mechanic's shop. I just went and got it fixed this morning. He charged me as little as possible for the part, and only 30 minutes of labour, even though he had it for 2 hours... he felt bad enough about it as it is. When I came to pick it up, he apologized intensely, saying he had called the dealership back himself yet again, trying to figure out why they were giving me such a hard time. Chrysler states they put a "lock" of some kind on my repair, so that no other dealership would work on my car without their consent; which was why I was turned away at the out-of-town dealership. They didn't even have the courtesy to tell me about this before I drove out there. My mechanic also gave me the 1-800 number for the Chrysler service department and tells me to explain my case to them; maybe they would find some way to reimburse me or help me in some way.

As soon as I got back home, I phoned the number. I explained every detail over the 30-minute talk, and was on hold for abut half of that. The man on the other line came back on to tell me that because I had fixed my car ultimately at an independent mechanic, I had lost all rights to be covered for that repair. He states the only thing I can do is call my dealership to have them explain WHY they wouldn't help me, but states that I would receive no reimbursement or help. I was in tears on the phone; I couldn't help it. Didn't really seem to phase him though, so I'm guessing they make people cry quite a bit.

I'm so done with Chrysler... when my Jeep finally craps out on me (which I can imagine will happen sooner rather than later, based on experience), I will never, EVER replace it with another Chrysler vehicle.

I had the first regulator fixed and after much conversation with Jeep Liberty, they finally fixed it at no cost to me.

Now, the second regulator quit and wonder every day if the next window is going out.

My daughter in law has a Jeep Liberty and has had the same problem as mine.

When will Jeep wake up and realize there is a problem with their regulators?

Update from May 3, 2015: I had one back window regulator fixed and two weeks later while I am riding down the road, the window goes down. About a year later, I am riding down the road and other back window goes down, so I have two windows in the back that do not work.

I had the driver's side window regulator repaired once under the extended warranty where I had to pay 100, and once where they extended the warranty and never had to pay anything. Then recently had to get the passengers side fixed and it cost about 350 out of pocket thank you very much. I think there is a defect in the regulator and there must be a better fix. Now my CRD has had a few problems but so far its all been under the factory warranty. I recently had the oil changed at the dealership along with the window fixed thinking it would be under the extended warrant. NOT....

But my daughter drives it and gets reasonable mileage still. I hate to trade it in because its doing very well now and but I understand that one day it will have to.

Chrysler needs to be a little more responsible and needs to admit there is a defect.

I have a 2005 Dodge Truck with no problems to speak of.

Contacted Chrysler on multiple occasions my windows just "fell on day" had to take the whole door apart to get to it. Funny that almost all the people I know that own 2006 jeep liberty's have issues with their windows. My friend has the same make model year and color just a different trim and her build date was after mine and Chrysler covered the repair but wouldn't cover mine. they told me I would have to have the regulator, cable, and glass replaced all at my expense?!?!?! My glass is not broken and I have to buy new glass and then pay to have it tinted yeah ok. I use a door stop to keep those stupid windows from falling forget that.

I called Chrysler Corporation because I see there are literally hundreds of Jeep Liberty's with the exact same window problem. The driver's side rear window. The receptionist stated, "Ya maybe there have been some Jeep's with that problem, but not yours. Your VIN number has never been reported, and now your jeep is too old to be covered. My jeep does not look old, and it has been well taken care of. I am angry. I have numerous problems with this jeep. Thank Goodness most issues have been recalls and have been fixed, or under warranty. Like my front seats caught on fire.

In 2009 I had to replace the left rear window and regulator @ $650 because Chrysler changed the setup in 2007 so u can't use the same window. Now both my passenger door Windows keep falling down and I have to have them taped up because dodge wants over $1200 to fix them. Apparently this isn't just happening to me but to thousands of other people too. Don't think it won't happen to u and buy a brand that puts quality parts in their vehicles like ford and not junk like dodge does. P.S. Ford Quality has gone way up in recent years and they didn't need taxpayer dollars to bail them out so they can give their execs bigger salaries and bonuses.
