In the past year I've had to replace 3 window regulators. The only positive note is my Jeep was a certified pre-owned vehicle with warranty that covered the cost of replacement.
- Josh F., Kearney, NE, US
This was the first of 3 window regulators that broke. I had the second break 4 months later and the third break 2 months after that.
- Christie W., Fort Collins, CO, US
Both rear window regulators stripped in the same week and the windows fell down. The car is only five years old and hardly has passengers and the windows are hardly used as the AC is always on. This design is pathetic. If the regulator used the window up instead of pulling it, it would fail safe.

In the Last 3 years, I have had to Deal with this Window Crap! I had one fixed and it cost a ton of money, then 7 months later the other Back window did the same so I wired it up, Then two weeks ago the Passenger window up front did the same thing, the motor runs but the window falls down, so at this time I look Like a Red-Neck driving down the road with cardboard and what not stuff in the window seal to hold it up and it still slips down and it's ruing the inside of my automobile do to bad weather. I've talk to many people who have had this problem over the years, and are continually battling it. Jeep need's to own up and just Recall this problem and Get it Fixed. Until then I will Never Buy another or Refer any to do the same. They Suck!
- Annette H., Danville, IL, US
Regulator broken both side rear, and seemed problems coming up on both front sides. So sad.
- kai.y.wang, Chattanooga, TN, US
We bought this jeep just a few days ago and one rear window will not roll down, the other rear window will not stay up and the 2 front windows automatically roll down when you start the car, its ridiculous. I don't understand why there is not a recall on these parts, mine was manuf. 11-05. It's obvious so many people are having this problem but nothing is really being done!! Fortunately the dealership is fixing the 2 rear windows, but from what i've heard, how long will it be till they break again!!!

I always wanted a Jeep Liberty and now that I finally got one..I HATE IT!!! I have had to have the rear passenger window regulator replaced twice and it broke again last night during a bad storm. Needless to say the inside of my car is soaking wet. I called Chrysler because the dealership directed me to their customer service however they were absolutely NO help!! They said due to the mileage on my vehicle they could not cover the regulators but there is an extended warranty that doesn't pertain to mileage whatsoever!!!
I cannot afford to keep fixing this same window regulator when they know it has a problem!! Their customer service people were rude and not helpful at all!!!
- Jamie H., Horn Lake, MS, US
This is the 7th regulator that needs replacing. This should be a recall. They say the plastic will break if it is not used often. It just happens with no notice. Thank God Christmas was over, the window just drops on it's own
- Debra J T., Oakland Park, FL, US
My car was parked for 2 hours in for a Halloween party at my nephew’s preschool. When I went to leave, I noticed my back window was down. This is at least the 14th time one of the regulators has broken in my Liberty. I will be taking it to the dealer to fix this week. The time and energy that I have had to put into getting this fixed all the tile is insane. I will not be buying another chrysler

Within one weeks' time BOTH rear windows fell down on my 2006 Jeep Liberty. After calling my local Jeep service dept., first being told the repair would be under warranty, then was told it would not be covered by warranty, and being quoted a min. repair cost of $800, I decided to take my Jeep to a mechanic friend instead. He did quite a bit of research, after ordering replacement regulators that would not fit on this model, having to go back and forth multiple times to get the regulators to fit my truck (and of course they were the most expensive, as they were specially designed in order to fix the problem of the repetitive "window falling" problems on this Jeep). After reading other complaints it seems there is no rhyme or reason to who Chrsyler Jeep reimburses for these repairs... Upon writing a letter to them I received two calls back; the first call I was told that they would not cover the repair, however after requesting to speak with a manager I was told that the most they would cover were the parts, not the service (which was the bulk of what I paid so I would have been happy with that)... however when the manager called me back he refused to cover any of it claiming I was the 4th owner of this vehicle. Interesting, because I am the second owner of the vehicle. In all I was given several different reasons for the repair not being covered... from it not being a recall or warranty problem, to there being 4 owners of the vehicle, to this problem not being reported before. Quite frankly it was confusing and I believe I am being given a brush off. But I say fight to the death! When you are right about something, take a stand. I am sending a letter onto the CEO of Chrysler, and am again copying this letter to the Div. of Consumer Affairs. Clearly there is a problem with the window regulators Jeep is putting in some of their vehicle models and this problem should be corrected by Chrysler Jeep. After all, be it rain, snow, wind, heat, or theft, one cannot drive around with their back windows broken and inside the door! So come on Jeep, stand up and do the right thing! I love this vehicle, but I can't justify buying another when the manufacturer does not stand behind their product!

This has happened for the 5th time now , and there is still no recall. IF ANYONE HAS THIS PROBLEM WHICH I KNOW ALOT OF JEEP OWNERS DO, PLEASE CONTACT THE NHTSA ( national highway traffic safety adminsitration ) FILE A COMPLAINT SO THIS WILL GET RECALLED> THere number is 888-327-4236.

My rear passenger side window just fell down during a rain storm without any cause. The window regulator just broke. I call Chrysler Customer service. They refused to pay because my 1986 Jeep Liberty was actually built in December 2005 and before they extended the warranty for vehicles built after February 2006. They also complained that I was the third owner for the vehicle. This is something that should not happen period. My daughter warned me when I bought the vehicle that this might happen as her windows have fallen down three times. Luckily, her jeep was built after February 2006 and Jeep reimbursed her after she complained and wrote letters. This is the only vehicle that I know where it is OK for the windows to just fall and the company refuses to fix them.

The problem started 3 months after we bought the Liberty. The regulators started going bad, the windows fall, won't go up or down. The warranty covered the first 2 times,it's now been 5 more times (1 one window 3 times, once with the window and regulator and all)it was fixed in April this year & broke again last week all have been fixed at least once,it's time Jeep stepped up and recalled this problem once and for all...I have a 95 Jeep Cherokee with 193,000 miles on it windows are fine...Come on Jeep do what's right!!!
- William G., Garland, TX, US
Went to a local Jeep dealership and no mention was made of the warranty being extended on this problem. They seemed more that happy to want to charge me the $79 dollars to run a diagnostic on my vehicle. Found out about the warranty on this and am getting ready to go back to the dealership and get this situation taken care of.

This is the first Jeep I have owned and probably my last Jeep. The problem I am having is the Left Rear Window Regulator and the Right Rear Window Regulator. Given the poor performance of the driver's side window I expect it will fail as well.
The first window began falling about two months ago and today the second one began falling. They are both being held up with clear heavy duty postal tape until I have time to do the repair myself.
I have ordered two repair kits from Steiger Performance due to what I've read about the cheap plastic parts being provided by the OEM. After watching a couple of videos online I will attempt the repair myself. The two repair kits will cost about $180.00
I bought this Jeep used by a really sleazy dealership in Mooresville, Indiana. It has gone down hill from there.
I will post separate complaints regarding the other issues I have with this Jeep Liberty. I do like many things about this Jeep but this is clearly a lemon model and Chrysler doesn't seem to care or this would have been fixed by the dealer without charge.
I will not make the same mistake again...

jeep, another window regulator gone bad, recall them, do the right thing
- Stephen L., Ada, MI, US
I too have had the window drop on a 2006 jeep liberty. At the dealer they stated that it was not covered by warranty because the car was built prior to March 2006. What difference does that make? A defect is a defect. If they were building defective vehicles after March then I am sure they were before March. This is my last Jeep product.
