  • 46,000 miles
I was driving my 2016 Jeep Renegade latitude (2.4 liter) when the vehicle stalled on me. Before it stalled I was stopped in what is referred to as a Michigan left. Once traffic was clear I started my turn and as I started to straighten out my wheel, a vehicle in front of me was turning right into a business. I applied my brakes and then started to push the accelerator when I noticed no response. I pushed a little more and realized the engine had shut off. I applied the brake and shifted the vehicle back to park and restarted the engine. There was a gas station near so I headed there. As I was turning right into the gas station (slight inclined driveway) I noticed a quick flash about oil. I parked at a pump and popped the hood to check the oil. To my surprise I was getting very little to nothing on the dip stick. I checked multiple times and it was the same reading. I just had an oil change on July 18, 2019. I hadn't even hit the next service date (5,000-6,000 miles) and there had been no leaks they I had seen under my vehicle or any abnormal exhaust smoke (oil burning) in any of the time driving the vehicle. My vehicle doesn't even have 48,000 miles on it. I have only owned the vehicle since the end of June. This struck me as odd as I have never had any vehicle consume this much oil with out some type of noticeable leak or burning of the oil. There was no warning light prior to this event about oil despite there being little to no reading of oil on the dipstick.

For the past week my engine stalls in the morning randomly while driving, when I'm about to turn and the dash tells me to shift into park. When re-starting the engine struggles and then comes on. It just happened when leaving work too. Started driving out the parking lot and the car stalled. I see there is a recall for 2017-2018 Jeep for this same problem and multiple complaints for the 2016. Luckily I've been on streets and off the highway and going slow enough that when it stalls I can throw on my four way flashers. But I'm scared it will stall while in heavy traffic or going fast.

The contact owns a 2016 Jeep Renegade. While driving 5 mph, the vehicle shook violently and the engine vibrated. The contact coasted the vehicle to the side of the road and powered off the engine. The vehicle was restarted, but the failure recurred. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to antwerpen Chrysler Jeep (6440 baltimore national pike, baltimore, md 21228, (410) 788-2973), but it was not diagnosed or repaired due to the diagnostic and repair fees. The contact lifted the hood and the technician stated that the motor mount failed and needed to be replaced. The contact also stated that there was a delay in stopping the vehicle when depressing the brake pedal along with a squeaking noise. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the brakes and rotors needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 49,000.

Driving down the road the car lost power, oil pressure light came off, lost power steering, car shut down. Wouldn't start. Checked oil, called tow truck. I had to push the car back to get it off the road while my husband backed it up to get it off the road. Tow truck got there, put can in neutral, engine light came on and wouldn't go off, car wouldn't turn off emergency brake, pushed it 20 or so times, emergency brake finally turned off so we could back up the car so the tow truck could get it front of it to tow. Car is now at the dealership. We have had nothing but problems with this car and it is dangerously unsafe. The car was in the dealership already this summer for weeks for electrical lights going off and the car continuing to run without the key in the ignition. The Jeep Renegades need to be took off the road.

My car was making a noise when I would accelerate like friction. Noticed a smell coming from ac vents. Took my vehicle into certified Jeep dealership. I was told about recall on engine cooling fan on my year and make of vehicle but my VIN wasnt listed even though it was the same exact issue. 700$ for fan replacement when mopar clearly acknowledges issue.

  • 40,000 miles
Jeep only has 40,000 miles on it and one day driving home on the interstate, the car killed while driving without warning and almost caused me to crash. The car behind me had to swerve to avoid rear ending me as well. Had it sent to a mechanic and he said that the fuel pump failed. Car is only at 40,000 miles and is only 3 years old. Cost to repair it is $800. I looked up cases and apparently this is a known issue with Jeep Renegade fuel pumps and other years 2017 and up have been recalled but why hasn't mine? almost causing a crash and the cost of the repair is the 1st issue, the biggest stressor is the fact that the part is on back order and Chrysler won't ship my mechanic the part for 3 weeks. Yes 3 weeks without a vehicle, lost wages, and missed classes because I have a hard time getting to class for nursing school. I had a rental car that I was paying $27 dollars a day but after 1.5 weeks, I can't afford that plus the $800+ repair so I returned it. My mechanic also noticed the canister of the evap system is also bad which is another thing that shouldn't be going bad this soon. Now my total is $1075. Plus the $300 of the rental I had to get while Chrysler was taking their time getting the part I needed. Yesterday I had to call corporate to beg them to get this part moving faster. The fact that the part is back ordered, means a lot of other people are having this same issue. It's time to recall this part before it kills someone. I was lucky and was able to correct the car when it was trying to suddenly jerk off the road with speeds of 70 mph. But not everyone might not be lucky and it's a dangerous situation waiting to happen.

July 2018 first time it happened: I was in traffic flowing along on the highway at 70mph and it slowed to a crawl...stop and go at 5-10mph for about 15 minutes. Road dry, sunny, about 92 degrees F. I had the ac on and the radio full blast. I was pulling forward to crawl along and it stalled. Came to a complete stop. The message center says it's not running and hit the brake and the ignition button so I did, and it started and I moved out. Happened again about 5 min. Later. This time it didn't just start and I had to put it in park for a moment before it would start. Lucky for me we were going slow enough that people worked around me. The third time I was moving along faster at about 20mph as the congestion was freeing up...it stalled again. It was scary, nothing works and I had to glide over to the emergency lane. Dangerous. Scary. I know the 2017 Jeep had a recall for stalling due to a bfp. Does my 2016 have this issue also? I am no longer under warranty and I can't afford to have it checked out. I called Chrysler and reported it.today it happened for a second time Aug. 2019 vehicle had been accelerating and decelerating constantly around 10-20 mph for about 30 miles as elevation was gained, very hot temps in 90's.ac on. All loss of power, no warning lights, vehicle shuts off. Upon restart car is parked for about hour. Next accelerating and decelerating, 30-60 mph, while losing elevation, whenever the gas was depressed it hesitated and began to stall. Had to keep the ac off, whenever it was on it hesitated more. Finally at highway speeds 60-65 mph if you let off gas and then began to accelerate it would hesitate again and again. When vehicle was at a complete stop it would also hesitate in idle drive. It almost stalled dozens and dozens of times.

This truck has been a nightmare. The first year I had it I had to take it to the dealership 7 times because my emergency brake would randomly turn on. They finally figured out it was an electrical problem. Last month I started the car and it was running like it had 150, 000 miles on it (it only has 42,000) and the service engine light came one. Took it to the dealership and I was told on the phone the the O2 sensor was bad and I needed a tuneup... but when I refused to pay the dealership $700 for the work the story changed when I went to pick up the car. They then told me they broke the O2 sensor when replacing a fan that had been recalled. While driving O the highway yesterday every light on the dash came on. Once I got home a turn it off and back on only the service engine light came back on. I have no clue what im going to do with this $35,000 lemon. I can only guess the car still has electrical issues or the engine is about to die at 42,000 miles even though I have have kept up with all required maintenance through the dealership. But I do know I will never buy another Chrysler product again in my life

For the last year on and off the warning lights illuminate( service air bags, parking brake, electronic throttle cable, check engine light, power steering light), etc. Last week we were driving with the kids, went to park, got back into the vehicle, started it and all the lights started going off. My husband turned the key to off, pulled it out, and the car kept running. We brought it into the dealer only to have them replace the seatbelt. We got the car back and it happened again today. We were driving, all the lights kept going off, including the power steering light which turns off the power steering so we pulled into a gas station only to turn the key to the off position, pulled the key out and the car kept running. We called the dealer and brought it back in to be serviced. The car is dangerously unsafe!

Driving down a long winding hill when acceleration and brakes went out. I was able to stop the car with the emergency brake. No warning lights before or during. Towed to dealership where I was told that it had burned through 4 quarts of oil and that I needed to take it back to do an oil consumption test. There is no way I'm getting back into a vehicle that has no brakes during safe mode and has no warning that anything is wrong. Jeep needs to get these off of the road before it kills someone

Driving my vehicle today and it did not accelerate when applying the gas. This has occurred many times in the past but as a result, I was almost rear ended today. I have 40,800 miles. I purchased this vehicle new and have had similar issues in the past but this was a time that the delay in acceleration lasted at least 8 seconds. When this occurs it is always during acceleration from a stop except once when I decelerating to a stop, the engine started to stall until I revved the engine.

I took vehicle to dealership on 5/2/19 after the cooling fan made a loud squealing noise when it was idling with A/C on. Dealership stated that they could find nothing wrong with the vehicle & sent me on my way. On 6/22/19 while returning from my lunch break ( Jeep had been idling with A/C on in a drive through & fan began making a rattling noise - fan turning on/off in cycles) smoke started pouring from under hood, accompanied by a strong smell of something burning. I turned the vehicle off immediately & when I restarted it the service engine light came on. I had the Jeep towed from my place of employment to the dealership ( I'm a nurse, and missed a day of work due to this! ). picking my Jeep up from dealership today to the tune of $484.52 to replace cooling fan. I see that this is an ongoing issue, and that a class action lawsuit was filed on 2/11/19 due to numerous consumer complaints. I'm thankful that this happened at 7pm rather than at midnight while driving home on the highway...... at the end of the day my vehicle could have caught on fire. Apparently defective cooling fan is something Jeep has known about for years & I can't believe there hasn't been a recall.

The contact owns a 2016 Jeep Renegade. While driving 30 mph, the contact noticed that the air conditioner blew hot air. The contact's son attempted to loosen something in the radiator and the engine overheated, the coolant bubbled up, and the check engine indicator illuminated. The contact scheduled an appointment with an independent mechanic on June 17, 2019. The vehicle was diagnosed repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 45,000. Consumer stated while driving for about 1 hour with the air on, I stopped, happened to look at the gauges and noticed the red bar showing my car was over heated. I turned car off, lifted the hood, let car sit for a while, then son loosened the reservoir cap water in reservoir was boiling. I let car sit for awhile, could drive it but had to leave air off. I have it fixed.
