  • 17,000 miles
Bought Jeep brand new and now has 17,000 miles on it. Have had injectors replaces. It has been to the shop several time for PCV valve freezing and causing cylinders to misfire. It has been burning oil and occasionally will just shut. In the last month it has been to the dealership 3 time and usually at least 2 days a pop. One of those times had it towed in at my expense. Very displeased with engine. Dealer told me they had no fix for the problem. So this is something I will have to deal with every winter. Not even safe to drive. Very disappointed. At one point shut off turning into my driveway where I was almost hit by a semi truck

At about 50,000 miles the engine fan has gone bad causing the car to overheat. The car is only 3 years old and I should not have to pay 600-800$ in repairs for a new vehicle there are so many complaints about the exact same thing something should be investigated and done about this.

The engine fan has decided to stop working at only 44K miles!" there are hundreds of others who have had this happen to their Renegade at even fewer miles than this. I had to stop on the side of the road because my 3 year old car was overheating due to a bad or pos engine fan? what if I were in the middle of nowhere and with kids in the car" the dealership says they won't cover it because they haven't had any reports of it yet........ check the forums online!!

The bearing on the fan is going out. I have 42,000 miles and of course it is not under warranty. I have read more than 100 complaints about the same problem. Why is this not a recall? this is the 3rd Chrysler I've purchased brand new and never had this issue with the other 2. if more than half of the vehicles are having the same problem then it is time for a recall on the part. I don't have $500-$600 to fix this. So I have a vehicle that I still owe on that will sit for months. Thank you Chrysler.

  • 40,000 miles
Around 40,000 miles my car started consuming oil at an alarming rate. The dealership service department said it was normal for my car to consume 1 quart per 750 miles! that is insane. That said, Chrysler guideline for cars is 1 quart per 2000 miles for cars below 50,000 miles. The dealership has refused to repair my engine. I can't even go 2500 miles on an oil change without my car seizing up, stalling, having errors codes (low oil pressure, oil light comes on, electrical error), won't accelerate over 35 miles per hour. This all happens while I'm driving with no warning! very dangerous on a freeway! even the guideline for cars over 50,000 miles the guideline being the car can burn 1 quart every 750 miles is ridiculous. I've owned older models that never did that. Is this a new car thing" new cars just burn ridiculous amounts of oil? to what end"

Hi [xxx]at fca - my name is [xxx]. I called your office at fca customer service regarding the 2016 Jeep Renegade purchased at wilder Toyota. I spoke to [xxx] and she was unable to put me through to leave a direct message. Please call me at+[xxx] regarding my niece [xxx] vehicle a 2016 Jeep Renegade trailhawk. I hoped you would listen as I explain to you in detail that the Jeep Renegade my niece bought at wilder Toyota in port angeles Washington the is dangerous. The vehicle by the way -that has almost caused her and her son to be in four accidents due to its sudden deceleration at 50 mph to 30mph with no warning. Here is the "fixes? for the same problem that never addressed the reason the vehicle continues to do the same thing. Nothing is fixed. Also it has broken down four times -the last time on the hood canal bridge which stopped traffic in both directions and a tow truck had to come out on the bridge to tow it all the way back to wilder Toyota in port angeles. She has had to have it towed back to wilder Toyota four times and they have not fixed it at all. Now apparently you would like her to drive it away tomorrow???? and apparently this time it?S fixed because the ?oil got changed?? what?? that?S not the problem [xxx]the problem is that the car is going to kill someone if not [xxx] then someone else. Why would you threaten her that she has to bring back the loaner when whatever is wrong has not been addressed?? are you listening to her when she tells you she?S is afraid of driving that vehicle due to the numerous problems and scary situations it has put her in? are you listening to me " Chrysler needs to do the right thing and buy that car back before it kills someone white this vehicle off of the road immediately before it kills my niece and her 3yr son. My 2016 Jeep Renegade radiator fan assembly is shot. Stopped working when I was idling on my way home.it is almost $1000 to fix and I can not safely drive my vehicle. It is only two years old. It has 45K miles. Online there is a ton of people complaining about this same issue, particularly in the 2016 Jeep. I want to urge you to investigate this car and company to do the right thing and cover the cost of the repairs.

Renegade

  • 36,120 miles
While driving at 36120 miles I noticed a burning smell inside my passenger cabin. Shortly thereafter I noticed the engine temperature gauge went to its hottest reading and my check engine light came on. After pulling over and turning the vehicle off I opened the hood to the engine compartment and noticed that although the engine appeared to be extraordinarily hot, the electric fan was not operating. I then went into my house and did some online research and discovered that it quite possibly was a defective electric engine fan that was prone to failing due to no proper heat shield. This had been noted by many owners of the same vehicle. I made arrangements to have the vehicle brought to my Jeep dealer who then confirm that this was indeed the case.

My radiator fan went out at 50,000 miles therefore out of warranty. I had noticed a few times that I would hear a noise coming from the engine, I took it to the shop and they saw no issues. Fast forward 4 months and I was sitting in traffic and my car began to overheat. I was informed that this is an ongoing issue and that I should submit a complaint to hopefully get a recall on this as I paid a significant amount of money to fix it.

The contact owns a 2016 Jeep Renegade. While driving 15 mph, the engine seized. The vehicle was taken to franklin sussex auto mall (315 NJ-23, sussex, NJ 07461, 973-875-3188) where it was diagnosed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and advised the contact to call NHTSA. The failure mileage was approximately 21,000. The VIN was not available.

The radiator fan is wobbling and causing a rattling noise. This is a known issue among other Renegade owners. It may catch on fire or rupture the radiator. It will certainly lead to overheating if it isn't replaced.

I was driving roughly 15 miles per hour when my car made a ratteling noise. I stopped and could not see anything physically wrong with the engine. With in 5-10 minutes I could smell burning coming from my engine. My engine began smoking. My coolant level had dropped. I was luckily able to refill the coolant and make it back to town. The next morning my coolant had dropped again. I refilled it then smoke came from the engine again with a check engine light a 1/2 block away from my starting location. The coolant fan system needs to be replaced. The vehicle only has 36,000 miles on it. After much research I have learned this is a well know issue with this type of vehicle. So well known the parts have been on back order but the manufacturer has not recalled the vehicle. How quickly the engine smokes and faulters is a safety hazzard. The vehicle quickly stops working due to this issue potentially stranding passengers on highways or in areas unaccessible by help because it is an offroad vehicle.

Car had 25000 miles. Got stuck in traffic and started over heating. Fan was rattling and found to be bad. We have replaced the fan 3 times since then at $400 a pop. This needs to be a recall or a fix implemented soon. Can't afford monthly payments X2 due to replacing fan every month.
