Renegade

  • 41,000 miles
At about 41000 miles when the cooling fan started to wobble and started to smell. Took it in to get it repaired. It was the cooling fan. After doing some research, over 1000S have had this issue due to faulting bearings in the fan. I urge to demand a recall on this.

On several occasions while driving there is a sudden loss of power. Particularly problematic when turning and trying to accelerate. Nothing happens, no throttle response. Vehicle also suddenly died today for no reason at a stop light (vehicle stopped). It was difficult to get it to restart, but eventually did restart.

Started running hot out of the blue. Checked fuses and the main fuse to the fan was blown. Replaced the fuse but the fan still is not turning on. Vehicle is still running hot and producing smoke/steam along with a burning smell. The symptoms started while waiting in stopped traffic but seemed to clear up while moving, then got worse while sitting idle with ac unit on. I have been reading up on if there are issues related to mine and there seem to be a lot of issues with the cooling fan. Why is this not a recall??

Renegade

  • 20,000 miles
Radiator fan is failing at 20,000 miles not not keeping the radiator and engine cool. This occurs while driving and idling. Jeep has this part on back order with no eta. I was told that it could be weeks before the part arrives. I have been made aware that many other Jeep Renegade owners are experiencing this problem, as well as the long delay for the part to arrive. However, there is no recall that has been issued. I have a rental car that I am paying out of pocket for with no assistance from Jeep.

The contact owns a 2016 Jeep Renegade. While driving 10 mph, the vehicle overheating indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer (ancira Eagle pass Ford Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, 403I9 adams cir, Eagle pass, tx 78852) where it was diagnosed that the fan fractured. The parts were on backorder until March 19, 2018. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the issue and opened case number: 33146932. The manufacturer offered to provide a loaner vehicle for ten days. The failure mileage was 21,000.

3 weeks ago I heard a wobbling sound under the hood while the car was idling. It was a day later I was able catch what it was making the noise which is the cooling fan. I had it towed to the dealership not wanting to drive it for fear of overheating. The issue was confirmed there and after two false arrival dates I spoke to the dealership and thy finally admitted there was no date for the arrival of the new fan. I am now paying for a car I have no idea when I will get back. My job requires me to travel long distances and the older car I am using now is not very reliable for this type of travel.

This car is eventually going to kill someone. The accelerator chooses when to work. My car has 35000 miles on it and when I am turning or on the highway or just driving normally, pressing down on the accelerator it has a two to three second delay before it will engage. The dealerships won't help me and it has almost caused me to get into numerous accidents with my three year old son in the car! many people are having the same issue. Also as of today I am having to replace the radiator fan for the third time. It has burned up twice before! how unfair to buy a new car and have to have these outrageous expenses and safety issues!!! this has to be fixed.

I have a 2016 Jeep Renegade that I bought brand new. It has 45,000 miles and when my girlfriend was driving to get some lunch from work and the car started overheating. Now I have realized the issue is that the radiator fan has stopped working. After doing some research I have learned that this is a nation wide problem effecting many people.

Renegade

  • 11,800 miles
When driving my vehicle September 29 2017. My 1.3 year old Renegades check engine light turned on. Called to make appointment immediately with dealer. 5 minutes later the the temperature spiked in about 1 second to around 265 degrees. The temperature gauge gave no indication of a rising temperature and literally shot up. The radiator cooling fan locked up. Part is on national backorder don't know when it will get repaired and dont know how much engine damage has occurred. Seems to be a national issue as there are other Renegades that have been waiting for months for the same parts and have been at dealership for months. Wish Jeep would give me a refund as vehicle only gas 11800 miles and potentially gas catasprophic damage. Should be a recall and fav should buy vehicle back. Temperature gauge was useless as it only shows the level at normal and from one degree to the next shot to max. Once it went down a few degrees. Dropped backed down to normal range even though was still in 260 degree range. Faulty and unreliable. Most likely fcs will say engine is fine then it will break die due to warped or cracked cylinder or head gasket. Vehicle was in motion on a city street in semi steady traffic. Going in a straight line

Renegade

On Tuesday 9/6 my Renegade was making a clicking noise and started smoking and smelled like it was overheating. No indicator lights came on. We checked the oil and it smelled burnt and did not register on the dipstick. I called the dealer and was told it was because the oil change was 1000 miles overdue. We put a quart of oil in and the noise stopped. We took it to the dealership for an oil change and were told there were no other problems. One week later on 9/13 it made the same noise and again started smoking and smelled like it was overheating. Again no indicated lights came on. I let it cool a few minutes then drove to my destination 2-3 mines further. At that time the check engine light came on. I had my vehicle towed to the dealership where they said it was a fan motor. The part is on backorder until sometime in November. My vehicle has less than 39000 miles and is 1 1/2 years old.

Radiator cooling fan failure (seized). Parts on backorder lead-time 2 months. This happened while driving on city streets. Had a burning smell with smoke coming from the front of the vehicle. Stopped to check the motor, discovered the radiator cooling fan was not running. Pushed the fan blade, it was seized. The water temp got up to 250+, high temperature light came on, stopped and let it cool down enough to get it to the dealership. Cooled to 130, drove approx. 5 miles to the dealership and left it at the night drop (Sunday 9/17/2017).

  • 32,000 miles
I live in sw houston and work a 20/10 schedule in midland, Texas. My 2016 Jeep decided to overheat because of a faulty fan control module 550 miles away from home in an heb parking lot. The check engine light came on not 2 minutes earlier, followed by the coolant temperature warning light. There was no time for me to even find a mechanic as from beginning to end all occurred in less than 2 minutes in stop-and-go traffic. Coolant came bubbling up the reservoir and convinced me I had a leak. See photos. After the tow, I was stranded because the dealer couldn't provide a loaner so I had to fly back to houston, leaving my Renegade at all american Dodge Chrysler Jeep of midland. I was told there is a nationwide back-order of 7000 units, as of September 6th. Turn around time is approx 6 weeks. I have been on the phone with Jeep customer service and they said my car is scheduled to be fixed in November. For reference, today is the 14th day of September. If I had a M-F job, I would've been fired by now. They are so slow to respond! also, they are only able to reimburse me up to $35 a day for a rental. The options are very limited and I need a 4X4 for work. Not to mention, I have to pay using my own card and submit a receipt to get reimbursed, a process I'm told could take between 30 to 60 days. Did I mention that my car had only 32,000 miles on and is under warranty until 36,000 or May 2018?
