While driving the car the steering has roughly 1.5 inch play in the wheel to either side that makes the car feel like it is floating across the road. It is very noticeable when there is wind as it takes large corrections on the wheel to keep the car in the lane.

Wrangler

  • 5,743 miles
When traveling around 65 mph on a chicagoland expressway, the vehicle hit a small uneven portion of the roadway (I.e. small bump or hole) and vehicle started the known "Wrangler death wobble", "...a byproduct of the Wrangler's solid front axle design, and can cause the steering wheel to violently shake after hitting a bump or other road imperfection at higher speeds..." so, I had to slow down while in the third lane from the right, continue to slow down (I.e. around 40 mph) while changing lanes to the right, and after about 30 seconds the wobble stopped and then I had full control of the vehicle again. This appears to be a very dangerous situation with the vehicle. 5,743 miles on the vehicle.

While driving along the interstate 12/14/19 at a speed in the 70mph range the Jeep would shake violently when it went over rough road or a bridge. My daughter says she had to hold on to the steering wheel and slow down in traffic. She says it also happened on the return trip 12/17/19. My wife had an episode yesterday 1/27/19 after picking up the Jeep from service in which they replaced the warranty recalled jl steering damper (photo of invoice attached). She was driving on the interstate and hit a bumpy spot. She said it started shaking and was scared she was going to lose control while slowing down on the interstate. After researching on the internet I am learning of the "death wobble" as they call it. We had a 2014 Jeep Wrangler for 5 years and over 100K miles and never experienced this. It is not safe. I left a vm this morning with the service manager at ed voyles in marietta, ga.

Steering wanders from the first time I took position of the vehicle. The steering would pull to one side and when make a little correction, it would pull to the other side. This is a constant problem. It didn't matter if I was driving at 25 mph or 50 mph. I thought it would improve the more I drive it but it did not get any better. The vehicle had been at the dealer's service department four times. The steering box was replaced on the third time that was brought back to them. The problem had not been corrected. The vehicle had been returned back to the service department since December 26, 2019. I was told that they're waiting for a tech from fica hopefully by mid-February 2020. The service manager told me that fica advised them that they've done all they can do and not to touch the vehicle until a tech from fica checks the vehicle. I advised the manager that this is a safety issue and I was not taking it back on the road. So the vehicle is sitting at their parking lot. The service department have had the vehicle for over 3 months so far and counting.

Vehicle wanders, especially at highway speeds. Track bar has been replaced per tsb 02-003-19, steering damper replaced per V41 recall, and to date, the vehicle has been aligned more than three times. The vehicle still pulls to the right while driving at highway speeds (even on multi-lane freeways) despite the repairs and adjustments performed by the dealer.

I purchased a 2019 Jeep Wrangler jl in September 2019 brand new 8 miles on the car. I gave the car to my wife as a gift. So she started complaining about the steering so we took it to the dealer and they replaced a couple of steering parts left the dealer and right away I noticed that it was still driving the same with to much play on the steering. Called them right away and they said bring it back then a steering box was replaced still no change hard to keep in the lines some time it has a hard shake on the right front. So we took it back they maid adjustment, still the same wife is scared to drive it. So took it back 7 days later they said nothing wrong it drives as designed so 1 1/2 to 2' play on the wheel is normal still the Jeep is all over the lines and to top it off my wife was pulled over by fl key police thing she was drunk and had take a alcohol test and she was clean and let go. This was a horrible for her. We don't want the car anymore what can we do. Must of this happens after 45 miles per hour. My contact number is 7862852804

My teenage daughter at 55 mph lost control of steering on interstate 99. She described it as a flat tire. Upon inspection- nothing flat. I as her mother drove- sane conditions. She almost wrecked and caused a series of vehicles behind her to do so as well. It is a problem our local Jeep dealer has tried to repair. Recall performed and yet still present. It's a very very unsafe vehicle. She's in college and unable to drive to class. The death wobble is infect there. I will sue whomever if anything happens to her or anyone else. I love the Jeep products. This has less then 6000 miles on it. I hand another one sahara. 2019- sane bull beginnnjng at 3790 miles. I am seeking a lawyer. Both my older teens are in danger and it's not right. We paid cash in full and the Jeep hv to sit here!

Uncontrollable "wandering" and "drifting" issue with vehicle and steering as well as excessive play in steering wheel. Vehicle has been brought back to dealership 4 times thus far and the issue has been verbally acknowledged by technicians. However, our understanding is technicians are currently unwilling to go on record or to fix it per Jeep corporate instructions.

Once I hit a speed of 70mph on the highway and if I hit the slightest bump, my entire Jeep starts to shake violently. If I keep my foot on the gas at my steady speed, it just gets worse. The only thing I can do is take my foot off the gas, hold on for dear life, and hope I don't crash bc at that point I have no control. I cannot merge into other lanes to try to make it off the highway for safety and I can't do anything accept wait for the violent shaking to stop. Also to hope all vehicles surrounding me that are going high speeds are paying attention since my speed drastically changes and they don't crash into me. I have two toddlers and they scream and their heads are jolted from side to side in their car seats as I wait for it to stop. This happens almost, if not all, any time I go above 70 miles an hour and there is a bump in the road. It has not been one time only. I no longer can drive my brand new Jeep Wrangler on the highway and I do not take my toddlers in the car on the highway anymore. I am a single mother and I committed to the large monthly auto loan payments to ensure my kids would be safe while driving and I would have a dependable vehicle. I have neither but I still have the large monthly payment.
