My car is peeling like crazy. First it was 2 small spots which are still there and still small, but now the are very large areas peeling away in other areas of the car. 2 areas are about 2"x5" oval area and growing larger. Then there are other random area that are beginning to peel. It is too much for a simple repair.
Update from Jun 27, 2023: It is terrible. I have soo much that has pealed. It is very disturbing.

Several months ago, our 2014 Sorento had a major breakdown which led to the need for a new engine. Fortunately this was covered by our extended warranty so it isn't the main issue. Just discovered several spots on the hood with the pearl white paint chipping off. This just occurred a few days ago so there is no rust yet but the paint just chipped off. No dent, just chipped paint.
Why? There is clearly something defective with the paint. There would be no other reason for the paint to inexplicably chip off!
I will tell everyone buying a car to stay far away from any KIA!

The paint is popping/chipping off on different places on the vehicle. It looks bad. I got a quote to fix paint and was inform it would cost around 17k to do. I spoke to other people with the same problem with their Kia. That told me Kia used cheap paint on their vehicles.

The paint on my white Kia Sorento is chipping. This is a problem with the manufacturer and how they painted the car. These are the words of a very kind worker who has repainted Kia Sorento's and assured me it was the paint job of when the car was made. The manufacturer is refusing to repaint my car, although they have fixed this problem of other customers' cars. Kia should be ashamed to allow people to drive their cars with a poor paint job and not stand by their product.

The pain is flaking on my Pearl White 2014 Kia Sorento! The cars exterior is in great condition except for the hug flakes of missing paint. This should be covered under warranty and I should be able to have a rental until the car is repainted by the Kia Dealer.

I have operated or owned approximately 30 vehicles (personal or company) over the past 50 years and never until yesterday did I have a problem with paint peeling off a vehicle like is happening to my 2014 Kia Sorento. Left home with vehicle appearing to be in fine shape, drove about 35 miles, went shopping and when I came back out to the parking lot, I find this huge chunk of paint missing. At first I thought I had the wrong vehicle and was not pleased when I realized this it was mine. The paint on the passenger side pillar of the windshield is lifting off in big sections.
Dealer said there is nothing they can do because the vehicle is out of warranty. So it’s now on my dime to fix it.
Was thinking of trading the Kia Sorento in for a Kia Telluride, but with my paint issues and trade in value decreasing, plus Kia’s lack of taking ownership of this paint peeling problem, I will have the vehicle fixed at my expense and look elsewhere for a new vehicle. Since it is the middle of winter here and paint shops are busy, my eye sore of a Kia will be driven around for several months for all the world to see what a piece of crap these vehicles are. For the record, there is a lot of underbody rust on this vehicle, more so than is present on another vehicle I own with similar mileage and year of manufacture. Would not recommend the Kia brand!😡

Coverage for paint long gone, but this is far from normal wear for any car paint. Now the "KIA" emblem is fading (photodegradation)! Any suggestions?

I can't believe my paint is peeling off on the passenger side windshield area. Never had that happen to any car I've ever owned. No one wants to fix it. I don't think I should have to pay for a faulty paint job. I'm still paying on this car, I won't get another Kia, and will let everyone know about this problem that Kia refused to acknowledge.
SMH, maybe if we all take it to our local news, they can help!!!

Paint peeled off tailgate. Polished under warranty with some light coating, but after 1 year issue is back again.

I had just finished a 400 mile trip. When I noticed the paint peeling. During my trip I know I did not hit anything but bugs. I have other small chips in the paint from rocks on my hood, but this is totally different. Unfortunately car manufacturers put mileage on paint jobs. Most bad paint jobs might take a while before showing up. The bad thing is my 400 mile trip back is going to peel off more.

Went to Family Kia of St. Augustine where I bought vehicle. They don't have body shop but directed me to the one they use. I got two estimates by two different body shops. Called Family Kia who told me I was beyond my 3 year warranty and would have to deal with Kia. Went to Kia website, messaged them as directed. Got a phone voicemail giving me # to call and case # .
Called Kia number and got Sarah who basically told me it was my fault that my car gets nicked from outside influences such as road gravel, sun, heat, tree sap etc. She then went on to tell me that Steven the technician from Family Kia already took pictures and sent them to the regional service manager (whose name I'm not allowed to know) who rejected my claim. I never met Steven, no one took pictures and I did not file a claim with them. When I called her out on this, Sarah said she had given them my vin # and that was the result.
I am not done with this. I don't like to get ripped off.

2014 Kia Sorento LX - Pearl White paint peeling around windshield and off hood. Bubbles started forming form under paint and paint blisters and peels away quickly in large chunks from vehicle. Went to dealership and they told me paint is only under warranty for 36k miles, but after seeing all the complaints online with white Sorentos, I realized there is a problem with KIA paint. Car is parked in a garage every night I have owned it. I worry now that the entire car will continue having paint issues and continue peeling off. There are already 3 different panels on the car showing paint failures.

Noticed a little paint chip about a week ago. Had a reputable paint/dent repair person look at it, and he wouldn't attempt to fix. Said Kia paint was a 3 step process, recommended a reputable paint repair person in town. Came out to my car one week later and the all the paint was peeling off in large 3-5 inch chunks off frame around window on passenger side. I couldn't believe it. I drove to the paint repair company and the gentlemen there said I should drive straight to Kia and tell them this is obviously some sort of production problem, he could tell by the way the paint was peeling off. He suggested I check the websites for a paint recall also. I went to the local Kia dealership and was told no warranty or help, the paint warranty is only good for 36,000 miles. I did tell him, I thought the paint should last significantly longer than 36,000 miles, it's not like we are driving through hurricanes here. Not sure what my next step is, but this has to be fixed as I use my vehicle for work.

For the last couple months the pearl white paint on the two sides of the windshield have started to de-laminate and just flake and peel off.
Talked to the dealer who sold me the car this morning and he acted like this was something new to him. Dutchess Kia in Poughkeepsie NY. Get home and do a little research to find out this is a known problem which explains why he was so quick to get
rid of me by saying I had to talk to KIA since the paint warranty ( A pathetic 3 years, 36K miles ) had expired.
KIA is not standing behind this clear defect issue. For the past year and a half I have raved about KIA but no more. While chances are nothing will ever be done, this is unacceptable. I have two Kias right now but these will be my last. Also looking at the title I was under the 36K when I bought the car and the dealer did nothing. Dutchess Kia of Poughkeepsie NY.

I have a 2014 Kia Sorento LX with 40,000 miles. Engine has been replaced(under a recall) and now the SnowWhite paint is peeling off. I have contacted Bill Baisley Kia in Frederick Md. (Car was purchased here) and also contacted Hagerstown Kia , Hagerstown Md. along with the Customer service at Kia Directly and they basically told me tough sh*t because paint is only good for up to 36,000.. Really, bad paint and because it didn't start peeling until 40,000 you wont do anything. Well I can tell you I will never again own another Kia. Thank goodness they replaced the engine.

Paint peeling around windshield. Starting to rust very fast. Looks awful. Definitely does not look like I am driving a 25,000 dollar vehicle around. I DO NOT recommend Kia to anyone! I regret ever buying a Kia..

Unable to submit pictures. Pearl White paint peeling around windshield and off hood. Bubbles form under paint and paint blisters and peels away from vehicle. At first I thought it was because of the Phoenix heat, (110 degrees plus in summer), but bubbles happened in "winter" months as well. This problem will cost a small fortune as most or all paint will need removal and replacement. The paint is separating from the Primer in small bubbles as a start, then swells or blisters then falls off in very large chunks or large pieces, (3inch flakes). removal and repaint from a quality shop will be $3400.00 at minimum. Paint bubbles from plastic car parts/trim and metal/aluminum frame/parts. Paint started peeling from rear bumper assembly last two months. The paint is a disaster. Help!

Paint just started bubbling and peeling down to the bare metal on the roof and then begin to progress to other parts of the body. Been taking note of other white pearl painted Kia's and noticed I was not the only person having this issue. Kia needs to own this problem. Original owner and I never even take my vehicle through a car wash. I always wash it as home with with good car wash products.
