Sorento LX

  • Automatic transmission
  • 48,000 miles

While driving home from work this morning in my 2014 SORENTO LX FWD AUTO my engine started again making the faint knocking/grinding noise. At 1225 in the morning my options are limited as nothing is open. Drove about 1/4 mile and noise stopped, finished drive home (about 28 miles) no noise, no issues, no smell, no dash lights. Nothing.

Start car again the morning and again smoke is billowing out of tailpipe. Shut off car, go inside and decide to do some research, no recalls via year and model search or VIN search, so research complaints and notice all sorts of similar issues and complaints and investigations of multiple websites. I am unable to take my car to a KIA dealership (they are blacklisted to us, which means OFF LIMITS you cannot use them as they have been investigated and found to have horrible business practices), however from reading all the complaints and issues this seems to be a major issue that KIA refuses to acknowledge and do anything regarding fixing. I do plan on taking my vehicle in again (was just serviced last month by a localChevy dealership) when I can get appointment that does not conflict with my work schedule, however I am dreading the outcome as I can see from the multiple complaints and class action lawsuit that this is going to be a major repair that KIA will refuse to fix.

Sorento SX V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 32,000 miles

My car started experiencing acceleration issues back in June. This was and still is happening. Every time I drive the car it bucks continuously and sometimes feels as though it doesn't want to go. The check engine light came on and we brought it to the dealers. They determined it was the high pressure fuel pump and replaced it. After, the car was fine for about a week when the problem occurred again. Now it is doing the same bucking and the check engine flight flashed and then became solid. I called to make another appointment. The check engine light went off a day before the appointment and the bucking stopped for about 2 days. I brought my car in anyway and they told me they can't find anything wrong with the car without the check engine light on so I have to wait for the problem to occur again... also of note is that the gas mileage seems to go up when it is bucking badly and go back down when it's not happening for a few days. If I find a solution that works I will update.

Sorento 3.3L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 25 miles

Needs to be fixed asap had the problem from the day I bought the car. Very annoying not a good selling point for the Kia. Kia needs to let owners know what is being done to fix the problem and get it fixed. Was told by service manager that a recall is coming has to do with fuel pump. Have not heard anything from Kia as to a fix if and when. Thinking about trading it in on a Subaru.....

Sorento LX 2.4L -4 Gdi

I have had the Sorento in several times for the hesitations on turns but there were no codes and the dealer was not able to duplicate. Has anyone had the same issue and had it fixed?

My car sat idle while I was waiting to drop my child off at daycare. Once I drove from the daycare center, I noticed the car was extremely slow to accelerate. I even pushed the gas pedal all the way down, which did nothing to speed it up. The RPMs also did not go over 2000 the entire time. It was almost like the vehicle was not shifting at all. Usually when that happens though the RPMs will still go up. I wasn't scared, since I live on an Air Force Base where you can only drive max of 40 anyway, but would have been a different story on a highway. I plan to tell the dealer at my next scheduled maintenance. It was very cold outside as well... approx 31 degrees.

Sorento LX 2

Having it towed into dealership. I saw on this site that other people had similar problems. I want someone to know I have the same problem. Hoping they find something and fix the problem. The check-engine-light came on flashing. Prior to this I had two other episodes which the light didn't come on but the engine hesitated a couple of times.

Called dealership and they requested that I have the vehicle towed into the shop. Hoping they find out what the problem is and they fix it. It was scary driving in the SUV. Will let you know what the problem is or if they can fix it.

Sorento SLX V6

Upon acceleration, engine stalls for about 4 seconds. Does not quit running, just no gas. Starting into left turn or going straight from a stop or low speed. Very scary and dangerous. Dealer can't replicate symptoms.

Update from Jun 23, 2014: Happened 7 times in one week. Dealer can't duplicate problem. Wants me to video? What, the look of shock on my face?

Sorento ES V4

We have had the car in the shop to resolve, but Kia cannot create the problem to fix it. My wife is afraid to turn left into traffic, for fear of the extended hesitation. This lack of acceleration has happened frequently in the most inconvenient of situations. Kia has no answers
