This problem may be covered under warranty. Ask your Kia dealer.
This is the first occurrence of the problem. Dealership said we could drive it while we waited for the part and they would call us. They forgot to call and a few weeks later we almost got stranded in the mountains as it lost power. We limped it to the dealer to be repaired. They did not look for a reason why this failure happened. So...than it happened again. See next post.

Our 2014 Sorento had acted up 4 time before KIA finally got it fixed. The first time the vehicle was idling because the temp was in the 20's and then started to run rough and the check engine light came on. we turned of the vehicle and restarted it and it ran fine. we pulled 3 codes from the ecm all having to due with the throttle body. we took the vehicle back to the dealer and they recorded the code but said the vehicle was running fine now so they could not do any thing about it at that time. the same thing happened again about 2 months later after shutting off the engine and restarting it we started to drive and got 200 yards down the road and lost throttle response we pulled over and turned off the engine and restarted it and still no throttle response we turned off the engine for 30 seconds and then restarted it and the vehicle ran fine the same codes came back and again the dealer told us there was nothing they could do because the vehicle was running fine when they looked at it about 1 month latter my wife was sitting at an intersection idling for 30-45 seconds and when she pulled out in to traffic she lost throttle response this time we left the vehicle with the dealer for a week they put 300 miles on the vehicle and used a tank of gas and said they did not find any thing the vehicle ran fine for 7 months and then when the weather started to get a little colder the issue showed up again same 3 code for the throttle body we took the vehicle to the dealer and left it again and they found the resistance in the throttle body motor out of spec they replaced the throttle body and for a month we have not had an issue just sad it to 4 trips to the dealer to get this taken care of by the way the dealer is 60 miles from us

Ok, so now this is the second time the catalytic converter failed and this time it left me STRANDED. We live in a remote area and typically have no cell service but luckily I did in this spot. Had groceries in the car. Had to have it towed. Were without a car for a week. The dealer first said, "we must find out why you are blowing catalytic converters" but after the week he reported nothing wrong with the car and just replaced it again. So, they do not know why these keep failing. We cannot afford to break down again. I am 65 years old and often haul senior citizens to doctor appointments. We could not trust the problem to be fixed. Kia didn't care. At the same time, there was an air conditioning problem, which the dealer also had no fix for. That will be in an additional post. Bottom line, we traded it in for a RAV4. Took a big hit on it financially but cannot take the risk of breaking down again. These cars are rated well but our experience with it was terrible.
