I contacted the dealer for my recall repair. They advised there is a 200 person waiting list and they are only permitted to order 4 parts per week. At this rate, it will be almost a year before my vehicle is fixed. NHTSA requested to know if there were issues getting this part fixed - yes, there are issues. Thank you.

The head gasket leaked resulting in having to put in an entirely new engine. The dealer suggested that this was a known issue and that the gasket breaks in the corner. After the replacement, I was told that the manufacturer improved the gasket and I should not see this issue happen again. When the gasket blew, there was an immediate loss of power going down the expressway.

A popping sound occurs in the back roof area when the door is open "wake up event" and even when the tailgate is open. After the popping sound, the warning sound for the closing tailgate does not sound. Major safety issue. This car has been in for repair 5 times without resolution. Subwoofer, latch regulator, latch and the tailgate shocks have all been replaced. This occurs with audio off and when the car is off upon entering the car. This issue has been report since first oil change

I recently leased a Ford Mkc. It came equipped with side view mirrors that would automatically fold in when the vehicle was close enough to an object where you could get closer for convienence. A good example is when you go through a car wash and the side mirrors Ford in so they do ot get damaged during the car wash. If a person forgets to press the botton to have the mirrors swing back out so a person can drive safely that does not occur automatically. In essense those mirrors are closed and I could be doing 55 and not have access to the side mirrors if I forgot. I believe they should automatically open back up when the vehicle gets to a specific speed like 20-25 miles an hour. I had a BMW that had the same O[ptioon only when it got to 20 miles an hour it automatically put the sideview mirrors where they needed to go. Big safety issue

The windshield wipers on the Lincoln Mkc malfunction in the rain. I experienced several instances where, under flood advisory conditions, the windshield wipers did not work. I turned the car on and off several times. I change the wiper automation settings several times and still the wipers would not work. I believe this is a very hazardous issue for anyone driving a 2017 Lincoln Mkc and do not believe it should be taken lightly under any circumstances when lives are at hand. In the above set instance I was driving during the day with rain sleet and snow under flood advisory conditions.

The car was not on. It was parked in the driveway of a residential home. The lift gate was open. The arm that lifts and supports the lift gate broke suddenly. It sounded like an explosion and a large pressurized spring (greater than 2 feet in length) propelled from the lift gate arm. This spring struck a child in the face with so much force that it knocked him down, with cuts and bruised to the child's face (near the eyes). The force of the spring also caused a damage to the bumper. If this happens again, it has potential to cause significant bodily harm.
