The thermostat housing cracked vertically 3/8" wide top to bottom. In 45 years of working on and and driving i have never had a intake crack open for no reason.Being plastic which usually gets brittle with age it don't surprise me .They can keep their autos with plastic engine parts.Ford has a problems with these manifolds and the engines coils cases cracking.I've talked to other people/mechanics that has seen or repaired these problems.May be last Ford i will own!

Apparently, this issue with the 'cracked manifold' is a common problem and should have been covered by Ford/Lincoln Company. This repair was very costly and I'm still upset!

I was shocked to find out, via the internet, that this was an issue with so many people.

I noticed the fuel mileage had decreased dramatically and there was an occasional miss in the engine. Took it into a reliable repair shop. Plastic intake manifold was cracked.

Replaced the manifold with a metal one and replaced the spark plugs. Fuel mileage came back to normal immediately.
