The passenger side airbag is not working properly

The contact owned a 1999 Lincoln Town car. While driving approximately 25 mph in heavy rain, the vehicle hydroplaned and crashed with a flat bed tow truck. None of the frontal air bags deployed. The police department was present, but a report was not filed. The contact and a passenger were transported to the hospital by ambulance, treated, and released. The vehicle was towed to an impound lot and later deemed destroyed by the insurance company. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 183,000.

The contact owns a 1999 Lincoln Town car. While driving 50 mph, the contact's vehicle crashed head on into another vehicle. The air bags failed to deploy. A police report was filed and no injuries were sustained. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact was advised by a sheriff not to drive the vehicle in case the air bags deployed independently. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.

The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure and current mileage was 101,525.

The "air bag" light on this vehicle comes on often, irregularly and unpredictably on this vehicle. The dealer says it must be illuminated while in their shop to perform any diagnostics. This has been occurring for several years, and many miles.

The air bag check light remains on, which the owner is informed by the owner's manual that the air bag may not deploy in an accident. Manufacturer has been notified by consumer. The light stayed on periodically. Consumer took vehicle back February 2005 because consumer was told there should be some error messages left in the vehilce; however that was not true.
