brakes not working properly

The emergency brake (EPB) of the driver rear caliper got stuck. I bought this car used and the rear left rotor was rusted and pads did not wear evenly. I changed rotors and pads. I did not activate the parking brake and drove a few miles. After a few days, I drove to a place and when I stopped the rear left brake was stuck and smelled very bad. I put on the maintenance mode to make sure the electronic emergency brakes were completely deactivated and not doing something weird. I drove like that for a few weeks without any issue.

Then I deactivated the maintenance mode (and so reactivated the capability to put on the emergency brakes), but did not used the emergency brakes. Not after 1 day my rear brake got stocked and smelled really bad. I made some research and found out that the EPG are big issues. They have been reviewed twice because of a problem in the screw that does not deactivate parking break.

So I bought my Mazda back in late 2015 when they came out with the early 2016s which technically were 2015.5s . The issue started after I got the car but I didn't think any of it at first. When I would brake at a light or stop sign, my car lurches forward nearly causing me to rear end someone.

After this happening multiple times. I took my car to the dealership and they drove it around and said they couldn't find anything wrong...shocker...This time I kept a journal of when it was happening and it would have anywhere from once a week to twice a week. I have my foot pressed fully down on the brake and still the car will lurch forward.

I took the car in again yesterday and again I was told nothing was wrong with it and if it happens to call the dealership and a mechanic would drive around with me to repeat the issue. I told the guy that I cannot control when it happens, I told him that there is a serious issue and asked him to bleed the brakes and replace the redo the brakes, they said that would not do it.

There is a serious brake issue and it needs to be fixed...I don't feel safe and I do not want to hit anyone because Mazda is having an issue.

My CX5 comes equipped with an automatic brake system when you are dangerously close to a car. The car slammed on its brakes in a shopping center when a car turned in front of it about 100 feet away! Scared the crap out of me!! Luckily, no one was behind me!

i had the same issue as:

I was slowing down to down to stop in a turn lane and the brakes felt like it wouldn't stop. I tried shifting in neutral to slow the car down to get it out of gear and tried again to slow the car down I kept pumping the brakes and I did not feel the ABS engage. . Luckily there were no cars in front of me and I would have hit the car in front of me and I would have been rear ended. The car was lurching forward and I did not feel safe in the car. I did drift in the controlled intersection and thank god the lights were green. Otherwise I would have been in a multi-car accident.

it happens at random times. one of the three times, i had to slam my car into park to avoid an accident. another time, i was in the car with parent and they yelled, "what are you doing?"; i said my brakes are not working properly. do not feel safe in this car anymore
