The contact owns a 2016 Mazda CX-5. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle stalled and lost motive power. The contact stated she was able to drive the vehicle to a safe area before the vehicle lost motive power. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed with an inoperable fuel pump. The contact was informed that the fuel pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 66,000.
