6/29/14 traveling when check engine light came on. Stopped and looked under hood, did not see anything out of the norm, drove it home. Drove a few days later to dealership. Found intake manifold faulty and cam adj maginet. Not repaired-$3000 quoted. Drove it home where it remains. Searches on internet shows this defect is under investigation. Also car rides rough; all four wheels are bent due to regular road wear and tear. Both these issues could have caused catastrophic consequences. I am not the first owner of this mb. Were mb aware of these defects and failed to inform me prior to purchasing the E350? the manufacturer needs to remedy these defects.

Filled gas in car up to full and have had a strong smell of gas inside and outside of my car. I always fill the car only up to a half of a tank but with the holiday weekend coming I filled all the way up since gas was cheaper. Never had this problem until I filled it all the way up. After looking this up on the internet I found this site and wanted to give my experience so hopefully this problem will be resolved by Mercedes Benz. Its sad that it will take someone dying or a major fire to have Mercedes actually look into this situation.

Fuel gauge showed 3/4 tank, car stopped, mechanic told us the car was out of gas. I spend $600 at the shop to find out this. They first wanted to replace tank, fuel pump and senders. Gas gauge is not working proper, any advise?

Strong fuel odor after filling up. The odor last until I drive the car for at least 40-50 miles. I have read on Benz world.org numerous reports of the same problem. Mercedes-Benz of austin reported..cause is left fuel lever sender unit pressure sensor leaking. With so many complaints and the enormous danger of having so much fuel accumulating around electrical components, I don't understand how a major disaster has not yet occurred. I have called Mercedes customer service managers in New Jersey on more that one occasion but no action has been taken. My last communication was April 23, 2013. Everyone I have talked to, associated with Mercedes Benz in some way, has tried to convince me that the problem isn't serious when I tell them Mercedes should be responsible for the cost of repairs. The repair cost was quoted at approximately $1000. After my investigation of the number of owners of Mercedes Benz cars with similar issues, a recall or major service bulletin is in order. This has to be brought to the attention of those who will do something about it. Please continue your investigation and let me know your findings. I have driven mb since 1966. The one I speak of is my 7th Mercedes. I believe they can do better for their customers.

Once I fill up, there is a very strong odor of gasoline smell inside and outside of the car. I took of the rear seat, the fuel pump cover and there is a puddle of gas. It doesn't happen when the fuel is below 3/4 of a tank of gasoline.

My wife's 2007 Mercedes Benz E350 smells of gas every time we fill up the car. The smell is noticeable inside and outside the car. We had the fuel system repaired but the smell may have infected the back seat and upholstery. The cost of repair was slightly under $1500 usd. I believe this is an unsafe situation. Had the car been rear ended or hit on either rear quarter it is extremely possible for the car to catch/burst on fire. I'm very upset that Mercedes hasn't been required to fix this defect at their cost. I've seen numerous other complaints about this with vehicle in the 2004 to 2008 year.
