My headlights at night doesn't provide enough lighting ahead for me to see a safe distance ahead. At night when my headlights are on I barely can see. I must drive with my high beams on or I will not be able to see. This is terrible and not safe at all. I don't know why Nissan hasn't issued a recall for this problem. I have a Nissan Altima S. I brought my car new with only 2 miles on it in Aug/Sept of 2013. I try very hard not to drive when it gets dark. My car ha about 75,000 miles on it,

The contact owns a 2013 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that the low beam headlights failed to illuminate properly, which resulted in extremely low visibility. The contact replaced the bulbs more than once; however, the lighting was so dim that the fog lights and high beam headlights had to be used as an alternate option. The manufacturer was contacted. The dealer was not notified. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was not available. The consumer stated the headlights failed 2 other times.

Both low beam headlights have been deteriorating since the auto was purchased. The illumination decreased, it created an unsafe driving situation for the owner, driver, psngrs, other drvrs, other pssngrs & pedestrians with a high likelihood of injury, death &/or damage to property. I have hit potholes, crossed lanes into opposing traffic & have been forced to use high bms when potentially unsafe for other drvrs. I believe the deterioration is due to a design defect where the inside of the projector lens melts or otherwise fails & the lens becomes progressively opaque. We request the NHTSA office of dfcts investigation (ODI) initiate an investigation & pursue a recall for the model years 2013,2014 & 2015 based on the number of NHTSA complaints for this dfct. Per the iihs, the Altima hdlght system was redesigned for the mdl yrs 2013 & 2016. The number of filed cmplnts is only representative of the larger base of dfcts that exists. For the same type of problem, note that an older 2012 mdl only has 1 cmplnt & the 2011 mdl has 0 cmplnts. Also note that mdl 2016 has only 1 cmplnt & 2017 mdl has 0 cmplnts. This concentration of cmplnts around the mdl yrs of 2013,2014 & 2015 shows that it is not a normal wear & tear item that the ownr is responsible for but an inherent design dfct that the manufacturer is responsible for. The dfct exists at date of purchase but may not be noticeable to the ownr until sometime later & potentially after the std warranty expires. Cmplnts for deteriorating low bm hdlghts 2013: 68,2014: 48,2015: 26 to compare, there is a current ODI investigation into a failed rear suspension control arm that was begun with only 4 cmplnts. The dealer was notified 12/13/18 & Nissan Consumer Affairs was notified 12/18/18. To date, the mnfr has refused to pay for these repairs. The auto is at the dealer's serv dept & I will not drive the auto B/C it is unsafe to do

Dim low beam headlights. Over the past 1.5 + years the headlights have been progressively been getting dimmer. It is to the point that driving is dangerous as it is difficulty to see the roadway and oncoming areas. I had this checked at dealership and was advised that the lenses are degrading. Was told that there was no recall or fix by Nissan. Changing bulbs would not help. They quoted an approximate replacement of $1000 to $1200 with all new headlight assembly. This was the only fix available as the lenses cannot be replaced. The entire assembly has to be replaced.

Low beam headlights have become so dim, they are unusable. At night, the low beams do not illuminate more than 10-15 feet in front of the car while moving, forcing you to use the high beams to have any visibility, which is dangerous to oncoming cars. Low beams do not illuminate street signs or side lines of roads. Any rain makes it even worse. Searching for a solution has revealed this is a well known problem with no solution from Nissan.

About 1.5 years ago, I noticed my driver's side headlight suddenly become dim, a few weeks later, the same with the pax light. It made it difficult to see at night to the point I was driving with high beams. I went to get the required rejected sticker for the car and was rejected due to the lights. After replacing the bulbs twice with 2 separate mechanics, still no appropriate lighting & a second sticker rejection. I was quoted by 2 separate mechanics between $850-1000 to replace both of the lighting units with aftermarket parts and I just do not have that money to give. I recently discovered that there are others with this same problem so, seems that it is a manufacturer's defect. I called Nissan today to ask about a recall but, there isn't one. I asked for Nissan to pay for the replacements & was told that they would call me back after assessing the year, mileage, repair history, etc...locally, I only drive locally because I've been driving virtually blindly and illegally for 1+ year now frustrated to not have a solution. I hope that Nissan will recognize the issue and pay for the repair.

The headlights are increasingly diminishing in regards to the distance in which it projects as the car ages though from day one the headlights were poor in which moon or fog lights were installed to supplement this issue. The faster you travel the poorer the quality of the lighting. I've changed headlights at the dealership and this has not resolved the issue, I've even adjusted the headlight projection to no resolve. There is no known solution to this matter as apparently Nissan refuses to take any action and driving at night is a double edge sword, the driver drives blinded as the poor projection or the driver uses high beams and blinds other drivers which further increases danger of the general public.

I have a 2013 Nissan. Altima and the lights are very dim. I have replaced the light bulbs and it didn't make a difference. I can not see 2 feet in front of me. This is very dangerous for my kids and myself. I don't feel comfortable driving at night because there isn't enough light to see what's in front of me, or others to see me. Many of times people have turned in front of me because the lights are so dim.

I was informed by 2 different mechanic shops that the lighting system on my car is defective. I replaced the headlights 2 times by 2 different ships and they are still dim. This is a hazard because I have to drive with my highbeams on at night. This poses safety concerns not only to myself but to other drivers as well and I'm also liable to receive a citation that I have no control over. I've been having this issues for the last 2 years.

Lights on low beam are hazardous because they don't provide enough light to see at night while driving. I have to use high beams to see at night while driving. It apparently is a defect on 2013 Nissan Altima and it must be fixed before something bad happens!

While driving the car at night the headlights seemed extremely dim I could barely see items on the side of the road and was definitely out driving the distance the low beams were casting down the road. The had gotten progressively worse over time but driving it everyday you get used to it until I drove my wife's car and noticed the major difference. After having it diagnosed simply replacing the headlight bulbs wouldn't fix it and the entire headlight assemblies had to be replaced which would cost nearly $1,000. The bulbs basically melted the inside face of the projector lens and wouldn't let light thru. After complaining to Nissan usa they said they would cover 70% of the cost. I don't believe an owner should be expected to replace an entire headlight assembly after 5 years and that they've made a product that is unsafe and set to fail.

Low beam lights are really dim. I can't see any more than maybe 15 to 20 feet in front if me with the lights on dim. It is extremely dangerous when driving at night. When you add in rain it is horrendous. This is very dangerous to every Nissan owner who is having to deal with this issue. Driving on any roadway is dangerous especially in areas where there are no streetlights. I live in the city and it is still extremely difficult to see when driving at night. This issue makes a 15 minute drive feel like hours. I have gotten to the point that I hate driving at night.

After purchasing this vehicle brand new, first owner in September 2013, 4 months later the left fog light went out did not think anything of it. Two months later the right head light went out. Thought it was weird but did not stress myself about it. A year later the right rear light only works when you tap it. Now I am driving all the lights are out from the car. No brake lights no park lights no lights. Took my vehicle to tire kingdom to change bulbs only to find out the new bulbs are not working either and the vehicle has a N electrical problem. Never did understand why drivers behind me would honk their horns at me or be flashing me with their high beam lights. Nissan needs to fix this issue as well as their air conditioning problem. The vehicle only gets cool when the vehicle is in motion. You cannot have the A/C on when being stationary the A/C only produces heat during that time.
