The headlights on my Nissan Altima are so dim that I cannot drive safely at night. Not only are the low beams extremely dim, they do not project far down the road at all or to the side of the road. They only seem to project in a small area down on the road right in front of me thus causing huge visibility problems when trying to scan/see what is coming up in front of me. It is a huge danger for night driving if you cannot see with your headlights on!

Low beam headlights do not illuminate the roadway. Low beam headlights quickly deteriorated within 1 year and no longer illuminate the roadway at night. Unsafe to operate this vehicle at night using low beam headlights. It is literally impossible to see at night using these low beam headlights. I replaced all four headlight bulbs, low and high beam, and this did not make any improvement in low beam illumination. The problem is in the headlight enclosure assembly (projector/reflector issue) which must be replaced with new at a cost in excess of $1,000 because it requires removal of the front bumper cover and plastic splash liner under bumper cover. This complaint is frequently mentioned by other 2013 Nissan Altima owners and Nissan has to be aware of the issue due to its common occurrence and frequent complaints by owners.

The low beam headlights are almost impossible to use during the dark and triple the concern when driving at night and it's raining. This used to not be the case. This is a safety hazard!!! this happens whether street driving or highway driving and essentially makes me have to use the bright lights when there is absolutely no other natural lighting to help

I noticed in November 1, 2019 that the low beam headlights were becoming increasingly dim. This issue has gotten progressively worse to the point that I have to turn on the bright lights to see at night. The dim low beam lights create a serious safety issue on all types of roads. My work as a registered nurse requires 12 hour shifts, which means I leave home when it's dark and leave work when it's dark. When I questioned a Nissan dealership, I was told it was a Nissan defect and nothing could be done to correct it. I was also told I could replace with aftermarket parts, which is very expensive. I was told not to replace with Nissan parts because I would have the same issue since the defect is Nissan. I contacted Nissan in nashville to file a complaint and was told nothing could be done because my car is out of warranty. I was only given an option to ask the Nissan dealer for a discount.

The low beam driving lights aren't bright enough to safely illuminate the road. It is not due to old bulbs, but rather due to the design and materials of the reflector system surrounding the bulb which has deteriorated. High beams work fine. Low beams might as well be off as pedestrians, parked cars, stopped cars, are all not visible until within 20-30 feet in front when driving on otherwise dimly lit roads. I have run over a small curb that was not visible due to the poor lighting. I am concerned I will not have stopping distance in rain even at low speed, should a pedestrian suddenly be visible in the low lighting.

1)extremely dim headlight assembly in motion and stationary. Dangerously dim and has steadily gotten worse over 2 years even after light bulbs have been replaced. Both headlight assembly are issue. 2)hood will not close and latch properly as of today 12-14-2020 following stationary routine opening of hood. Vehicle was stationary. Recall replacement for latch has not been provided by maker as of this date. Recall was in May 2020.

Headlights are dangerously dim. Lamps have been replaced, however the Nissan dealer stated the interior of the lamp housing that reflects the light beam is deteriorated. There literally is no light protruding forward. Can not safely drive the car at night without using the high beams. The cost to fix this defect is over $1,000. The amount of light from the low beams is less than daylight running lamps. This is unacceptable. The lighting has progressively got worse over the years. This is not a lamp issue or type of lamp, rather the actual reflective housing internally that is not accessible to repair, the entire housing must be replaced. This situation is equally the same for both headlamps. Funny how the Nissan dealer knows about this problem as they have expressed other customers have had the same problem, yet there's not been a recall for what is the most important part of the car......clear visibility to drive at night.

The low beams on this vehicle are so low I have to use my high beams 100% of the time when it is dark. I drive a minimum of 50 miles a day just to and from work and depending on the season it is dark both ways. This is a danger to myself and other drivers who get really mad ( and definitely let me know it ). on coming drivers flash their lights at me and cars that I follow even slow down so much that I have to pass them just so they can tailgate me with their high beams on. It's scary !! I live in a very rural area with high deer traffic and minimal street lights. We have tried replacing light bulbs several times to no avail. From what I am reading, lots of other people have complained about this issue as well. The fix is not cheap but we will have to dish out the money to do it before I get pulled over and ticketed or worse, get in accident causing injury or death to someone including myself.

Head light low beams are dangerously dim. Can't see beyond 100 feet. I must drive with high beams on or can't see. Like having a small flashlight for head lights. Very dangerous easily can see an accident (crash) coming soon especially in rain at night. This is a common problem with the 2013 Altima. Nissan has not recalled yet Ford did in 2012 for the same problem. Somone is going to die. Delaler quoted $1200 to replace entire headlight assembly. This definitely must be recalled.

Low beam headlights are too dim to operate safely at night, especially with wet roads. Replacement of light bulbs does not improve low-beam performance. This seems to be a failure of the low-beam projection coating in the headlight housing. The situation is rapidly getting worse.

Low beam performance was always sub-par when car was new. As the the car ages the low beam performance is getting worse. Anecdotal evidence on the internet says the reflector within the low beam projectors deteriorates, thus reducing low beam performance.

The low beams on my headlights are really dim and the housing unit for the bulb is burnt out not allowing the light to project. I can't see anything without the use of my high beams on causing a huge visibility safety issue. I will need to buy all new headlight assemblies in order to have good visibility and to fix the issue. The lighting provided by the headlights on low beam are woefully sub standard and makes it dangerous to drive at night. Research indicates this has been widely known in 2013-2015 models. The cost of repairs is in the $1000 range. Since this is a widespread issue and bulb replacement does not correct the safety hazard this should qualify as a recall and be fixed at no charge to the consumer. This is an accident waiting to, happen. My wife refuses to drive this car at night due to the poor visibility.

The contact owns a 2013 Nissan Altima. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the low beam headlight failed to produce adequate lighting while driving. There were no warning lights illuminated. The local dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The failure mileage was 145,000.

Rear lower control a arm that holds spring rotted at welds and broke made tire drag down highway at 65mph almost crashed because of this.cost me 150 tow plus the part was few hundred too.🙁. lights suck so bad can't see at night. 30 feet if that, I have replaced bulbs (40)$ and still suck definitely something not right..they have been getting worse month by month. The low beam headlights have gotten so dim we cant even drive at night with out high beams this I feel is a safety issue and we are not the only ones having this problem with the same make and model from 2013 to 2015 Nissan should recall and replace them as this is a safety issue that started about 4 years ago

The low beams for my 2013 Altima sl have become too dim for me to see at night. I have had to start using the high beams to see at night which could cause problems for other drivers, but if I didn't use them I could crash due to poor visibility.
