The pass. Side air bag off light do not all ways turn off when someone is setting in pass. Seat. Nissan last year had a recall for this problem, they reloaded the OCS software for this problem. I have had 3 problem so far sense the recall. Most of the time there is no one but me in the car so I do not have a idea of how often it could had fail if someone was in the pass. Seat with every trip. I have only taken the car once to the dealer for this problem because the first time I did not think anything about it. The second time I took it to the dealer and after checking it out, they told me that there was noting they could or would do because they had no failure and that Nissan will not let them replace any parts unless there is a failure as Nissan will not pay for the item. Open ref.# 19611123 with Nissan and was told about the same thin, except Nissan said that it was the dealer call but they would not pay for no failure part replacement. I believe is a safety problem and someone with power should look into it, do to the fact there have already been a recall for this problem. No one I talk to at the dealer or on the phone to Nissan would or could do anything about it. The internet has many write up about this problem that no one will do anything about. I guess they are waiting for someone to be badly injured or killed to take the problem serious.

During our vacation while driving in Illinois we noticed while on the highway going at a speed of 60 to 65 mph while an adult occupying the passenger seat the air bag light came on and said passenger air bag turned off. I pulled out the owners manual and read that it could be caused by an article perhaps touching the seat if reclined too far back. This was not the case. There was nothing touching the seat. I was sitting perfectly still so the sensor should have detected a passenger in the seat. I had been siting in the seat for hours with the normal movement. We pulled over and turned the car off then restarted and the light stayed off. This happened several more times while driving on our vacation and is a scary thought to have this occur. Once home, I called the dealership for an appointment and in the meantime the same thing occurred on a short in town trip twice.my appointment is this week so I am curious what they will find.

The passenger side front seat will not detect an adult occupying the seat and disables the air bag for that passenger. I have personally experienced this on multiple occasions for adults ranging in weights from 130 pounds to 165 pounds. I have taken it to my dealer on 4 occasions. The first time they told me they reprogrammed it. The second, they replaced a sensor. The third, they said my wife didn't weigh enough and to sit very still or bounce around in the seat so that the passenger is detected. The fourth time, they replaced two sensors. Still the issue persists. To try and remedy, I have to put the car in park and keep turning the car off and on until it detects my passenger and enables the airbag.

2014 Nissan Altima. Consumer writes in regards to passenger airbag indicator light issues. The consumer stated the air bag light illuminated indicating the passenger air bag was deactivated, despite his 100 pound wife was seated in the front passenger seat. The dealer reprogrammed the occupant classification system. However, four months later, the light illuminated again. The dealer reprogrammed the OCS again. The consumer returned to the dealer for a third time, in December 2014. The dealer claimed they test drove the vehicle with a passenger and they could not duplicate the problem.

2014 Altima has been into dealer for passenger air bag issues and twice they have done things, but we still have the problem. A passenger over 125 pounds is sitting in the seat and the air bag light saying the air bag is turned off is on. Have to shut the car off and turn on again and it will then go out. Makes me wonder what it will really do if we are in an accident.

I am writing regarding problems with the Nissan air bag safety system in my 2014 Altima. I purchased a 2014 Altima in August and have had a recurring intermittent problem of the passenger air bag light coming on and remaining on when I have an adult passenger in the vehicle. My wife weighs 120 pounds yet it is not infrequent for the light to go on when we start the car and then remain on for an extended period of time, usually between fifteen and thirty minutes. It may also come on and stay on if she gets in the car after I have started it. Since local trips are often less than thirty minutes, there are times we complete a short trip without the light going out. The light will also come on for no apparent reason while we are driving. During one of these episodes the light came on while we were driving on an interstate, remained on for just over an hour, and then went off. We have had the car evaluated by Nissan twice and are repeatedly told nothing is wrong. I also wrote and spoke with Nissan corporate and was told there is nothing they can do. There is nothing under the seat. There are no children in the car and my wife is not turning around in the seat. I have pictures (I can forward if desired) that show the problem while we are on the road.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer who updated the OCS software and replaced the sensors, but the failure continued to occur. The contact indicated that the failure was intermittent and only occurred with smaller passengers weighing 115 lbs and under that occupied the front passenger seat. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 100.

This is an intermittent problem and it lights up when it wants to. It is not safe. The dealer tech confirmed operation of light tsb#ntb14-027. This issue is regarding the passenger air bag light that turns on even when there is an adult passenger occupying the seat. The weight of the adult passenger (150lbs - 180lbs) is much higher than the threshold for activating the air bags. Have taken to the Nissan dealership and complained about this issue during my 3 service visits, but every time I get a response that there are no issues with the sensors and there are no pending recalls. It took me a lot of effort to make them understand what I'm saying and the dealership was of no help. They made me believe that this is a non-issue and I should ignore the air bag light. This is a very serious issue and I've now a video/photo evidence with different adults in the passenger seats. Further, this is very erratic. At one instance, I've had my wife sit in the passenger seat while the air bag light was off and suddenly turned on when we were cruising at 65mph on the highway, the light suddenly turned on. It's caused a brief panic and we had to stop, re-start the engine and then it worked fine. We're very scared to ride a passenger and the dealership is of no help. I searched online and found many other users having similar concerns with no resolution. This is a very very serious safety issue and would request the erratic and faulty air bag problem be resolved before we wait to hear about some casualty because of faulty airbags from Nissan.

Light depicting that passenger air bag was off while my wife was in the passenger seat. Light came on and stayed on for 40 miles. The first time I noticed this, a software update was run and I was told that the problem was resolved. It happened again and I was told that the car was showing a faulty in the sensors below the seat and they were replaced and I was told the problem was resolved. Yesterday the problem surfaced again.

The front passenger air bag lite stays on while the passenger is seated.indicating the air bag is in-operative. The dealer performed updates, both software and hardware. The problem was never fixed ! after demanding a factory engineer to inspect the car, the result was: Some of these cars, this failure will happen, and there is nothing that can be done" his recommendation was, drive to the side of the road, turn off the car and re-start the car and the "computer" will be reset ! now in excess of 4500 miles, it still fails !

Hello, I have taken my brand new Nissan Altima 2014 4 times to the dealership for the problem Nissan has been having. When there is someone over the weight limit sitting in the passenger side the air bag light that indicates if its on or off does not come off. Stating that the airbag is off even though someone is sitting in he passenger side with the weight requirement. It all started on 11/10/14 and was told nothing was wrong, took it again on 1/14/15 and they said they found a code ( B00A0-00) indicating the airbag would turn off. They told me they fixed the problem by replacing the sensor and control unit and performed zero point reset. The problem came back again on 2/3/15 and was told that there is nothing wrong and that if it happens just pull over and turn off the car until the lights turn off and does not come back on. Took it again for the same problem in March and was told that they could not do nothing even though they knew it was not working as intended.
