We were one of the 2014 Nissan Altima's that was experiencing the passenger air bag issue: Even though a full-sized adult was sitting in the seat, the "air-bag off" would be illuminated. It was brought in under the recall in roughly October of 2014. After getting the car back, we immediately noticed that the light was still coming on when a passenger was present. We were told that it could be due to humidity, as we live in Florida. But even during the winter months it still read that the air bag was off. This is concerning if it is a safety issue and Nissan is not properly fixing the issue. I heard recently on the news that more complaints are coming forward and I wanted to make sure my voice was heard. Thank you.

This is an ongoing problem. The information provided above is approximate as I didn't know it was an issue until a recall from my Nissan dealer on April 22' 2014. Since then I have had it back to the dealer two more times for the same incident only to be told it could not be fixed, but they gave me a procedure to get around the issue. The issue involves the air bag light on the passengers side staying lit even when there is an adult in the seat. The light on means the passengers air bag is disabled. I am told to check light while the car in on and in park and if on, have the passenger stay perfectly still for about eight seconds, until the light goes out. Sometimes this works, sometimes it doesn't. occasionally I have to shut off the engine and restart in order for this to work. Most times, I forget to check the light only to notice it on while driving. This is not acceptable. I worry about not noticing and having a front end accident. Surely in this day and age Nissan engineers can find a fix.

The first incidence was in October, 2014; my wife was seated in front passenger seat while the car was in motion, when the passenger air bag off light lit up indicating the air bag system for front passenger was turned off. Since she was seated normally with full weight on the seat..we were led to believe the air bag system was not functioning properly. The only way to get the system functioning is to pull over and restart the car. The car was immediately taken to the dealership following that incidence. The service advisor, at that time, confirmed that my car was not part of the recalled air bags, however, they reprogrammed the computer and told me to watch for any other instances. The most recent incident was on 2/8/15, with the same conditions. I quickly scheduled a service appt for 2/12/15 & refused to let anyone in the front seat. While at the dealership on 2/12/15, the Nissan service advisor discussed with me a tsb, which said that "occupants who are properly seated and correctly using the seat belt, should not cause the passenger air bag to be automatically turned off." He then had the care inspected by a service tech. Following the inspection, the service advisor came to me and noted that the system was not showing any trouble codes. They told me there was nothing they could do and to let them know if I had anymore trouble. At this point I refused to take the car off their lot until it was fixed - I did not feel that my family should be subjected to a possible failure of the air bag system, injury, or death. It appeared to me that those outcomes were 100% avoidable. After a few conversations incl the service manager, I was provided with a dealer loaner vehicle and was told they would research the situation. I have elevated this to Nissan's consumer affair specialist via the 1 800 Nissan 1, call center. I hope a solution is found quickly.

The "passenger air bag" light sporadically comes on when someone is sitting in the front passenger seat. This has happened more than once and became more obvious after an airbag recall sometime last year. It will come on while driving and then turn itself off again after 5min or so. I have researched this, and found other Nissan drivers with the same vehicle, or other models report this same issue. Not sure if those reporting it also did the recall or not, but it is an obvious ongoing problem.

Passenger airbag off light illuminates frequently when an adult passenger is seated in the passenger seat. As a result, in the event of a crash, passenger would not be protected by airbags. Dealer has analyzed and informed that vehicle is operating exactly as designed. Vehicles has already been repaired pursuant to recall campaign 14V138000, but problem persists.

There is a recall on the 2.5L 2014 Nissan Altima and I have a 3.5L 2014 Nissan Altima, my passenger side airbag light shows no occupancy person sits in the passenger sit, as well as intermittenly when an object is placed in the seat. There is a recall with the same problems of the indicator light on the passenger airbag not showing proper indication, the same should be extended to the 3.5L models as well.

The passenger air bag light came on with my wife sitting in the passenger seat. She has set there many times before with no problems. So when the light came on with here in the seat I called the service department. Now my wife weighs 130 lb. I was told she is at the border of what the sensors in the seat is supposed to activate. I'm not going to tell her to gain weight.

I was traveling East on highway 70 in nc in a 2014 white Nissan Altima on a four lane highway under rainy conditions. A Hyundai was traveling West on hwy 70, hydroplaned, crossed the median and hit me head on causing her car to spin and her passenger side then struck my driver's side. My steering wheel airbag deployed but the driver's side airbags did not deploy. The second impact damaged my Nissan's driver side door to the point it had to be forced open. The Hyundai's passenger side airbags deployed in both the front and back seats which is the side that struck my driver's side. My 2014 Nissan Altima was damaged beyond repair and totaled by the insurance company. I sustained multiple injuries with the majority being on my left side...updated 11/13/14

While driving on a section of a us highway that was under construction, a bump was encountered where the pavement blended with old pavement. At that time I noticed that the warning light for no passenger in the passenger seat came on. The problem was that my wife was sitting in the seat and had been for approximately 8 miles at the time the light came on. I pulled over as soon as possible, shut the ignition off and restarted the car. After doing this, the warning light went off and we proceeded home without incident. My concern is that the OCS was reprogrammed when I had the vehicle serviced on 7/15/2014 and until this time, I had experienced no other problems since it was reprogrammed. It appears that the OCS reprogramming is not correcting the issue. I tried to contact Nissan, however, it was after hours and I will have to wait until Monday to report the issue to them.
