I own a 2005 Nissan Murano and have had numerous "incidents" regarding a continuling problem with the driver's side sun visor. The mechanism that holds the visor upright and in an angle position to block the sun is not working and repeatedly drops and droops rather unexpectedly to the point of hindering my ability of driving safely. Numerous times while driving on the highway the visor drops and blocks my view several times this has nearly caused an accident. I have talked to the Nissan dealer and they say it is not a safety issue, there is no recall infomation and I must replace on my own expense regardless if I have a warranty. I have contacted the dealer I purchased the vehicle from and have not had any solutions other than to pay over $500 to fix the problem. I find this outrageous and danderous. An online search yeilds a large number of other Murano owners with the same problem.

At about 40,000 miles, the driver's side sun visor stopped holding its position. At first we could get it to stay in the up position; it just wouldn't stay set in mid position...it was either all the way up or all the way down. A few months ago (now 80,000 miles) the visor slips out of the up position and goes to the full down position when going over a big bump or at other random times. The Murano doesn't have much head clearance in the first place, so the dropped visor completely obscures vision. From other discussion pages on the internet, this seems like a very common problem.

Sun visor failure 2005 Nissan Murano. The visor no longer stays in the closed / upright position. It has been getting progressively worse to the point that it falls in the 90deg. (0deg. Fully closed) position hindering driver's frontward vision. It began to encounter problems about 1 yr ago. Vehicle was less than 5yrs old but, over the basic warranty mileage for warranty claim. Initially, visor would drop about 10-15 deg. Enough for it to distract the driver's vision. Now, the visor requires removal as it is a safety issue and may cause an accident.

Sun visor in 2005 Nissan Murano with 55K miles doesn't stay up all of a sudden. This started happening for no apparent reason. It's loose when in the up position, and if the car hits a bump, it falls in front of the driver. It is difficult to drive with it down all the time, and quite dangerous when it's up and all of a sudden falls when driving. It costs $375 for a replacement visor. Both the local Nissan dealer and the corporation refused to assist with the cost of the part, and this is a problem that, according to internet research (and the local dealer's own admission), numerous other people have encountered. This issue poses a serious safety hazard, yet is cost-prohibitive to have fixed.

Driver's sunvisor in 2005 Nissan Murano randomly falls down while vehicle is being driven. Serious manufacturing or installation defect. Since warranty is up dealer would not replace for free. Quoted $370 for labor + cost of part. Was finally able to persuade dealer to replace part 3 years later. (today as a matter of fact). Had to threaten to get local news involved. Others on message boards have had similar problems. Please look into this major defect as many lives could be in jeopardy. I almost was in 2 serious accidents because of the visor just randomly falling while driving. Thank goodness for brakes because I and my kids could have been another traffic fatality statistic.
