While driving on the highway, my situational awareness was extremely compromised when my driver's side sun visor inadvertently came down and would no longer stay in the upright position. I had to drive with it this way for the rest of my trip (over 2 hours) with heavy rain. It was dangerous as my visibility was substantially obstructed with the visor. A quick search in the internet revealed that this is a somewhat common occurrence due to poor visor design and Nissan seems to be overlooking the issue. Replacement visors are several hundred dollars and seem to fail alike in the same spot (the arm headliner attachment). If Nissan won't re-engineer the part to correct the problem, they should replace it free of charge. This is a safety issue bound to reoccur.

Left visor keeps falling down causing restricted view. At first I thought I was the only one that had this complaint, but reading the bulletin boards it is a common problem. I feel this is a safety hazard which Nissan refuses to take responsibility for. I know two other owners that have encountered the same problem. One of the removed the visor because it was too expensive to fix. Could you please look into this. The interior is not listed on your choices so I picked body. Thank you so much.

I am filing a complaint on the sun visor. Both of the visors, driver side and passenger side would not stay up, flopped down, due to how outrageous the prices are, I have been velcro/hot gluing it to keep it up. It has been over two years and I just now succumbed to purchasing new visors. It is ridiculous that a consumer has to pay $386.63 for parts that is clearly a defect from Nissan. Safety issue wise, our head hits the visors as it would not stay up. Nissan really need to have a recall on this issue and fix/repay what we have purchased. I am not the first and I know I will not the last to complain about this issue. I am seeking restitution, and I will go to any consumer complain site to spread this issue until there are results. Not a happy Nissan customer, [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

This vehicle is only four years old with only 84000 miles, while driving I heard a loud sound coming from under the vehicle. I took the vehicle in to five towns Nissan they told me that I have a big problem, my transfer case is not good. The transfer case, seal-oil and seal- oil ring would be $2750.82. Labor and tax would be bring it to $4074.33. Now we all know owners of this very cute vehicle that it has a factory defect and we need more people like myself to come forth so the would have no choice but to recall these vehicles.

The visors will not stay in the up or stow position causing a safety issue for the driver. It will block the driver's vision when it falls. The Nissan motor corporation is aware of the problem but refuses to do anything about the problem without charging the owners of the vehicles. The Nissan Murano sl AWD I own was very expensive and the dealer is wanting $300 or more to repair the problem with no help with the cost from Nissan.

Driver side sun visor does not stay in down position. Even though vehicle has extended warranty, Nissan refuses to cover it. Visor has to be held by hand while driving to stay in correct position. If not held, then visor moves out of position sometimes blocking view of traffic lights and vehicles ahead.

This is a 2007 Murano purchased new in 2008. On September 12, while driving at low speed (25 mph) the driver side visor lost its grip and fell to a hanging position. This is a hazard as it impairs visibility. I have researched the Nissan forums and found out this is a very common problem with Muranos dating back to 2004. However, despite thousands of complaints, I have not seen that a recall had been issued. It is very disturbing that the part/repair is really expensive.

Murano

  • 50,000 miles
The driver's side sun visor falls down and blocks the view of the driver. I used to keep my seat up high because I'm short, and it helped me have a better view of the road. I've lowered my seat because when the visor falls it completely blocks my view. The visor has started falling at least once every time I drive it. It even happens on the freeway, where the road is smooth.
