Pathfinder V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 109,000 miles

2007 Pathfinder with 109,000 miles had radiator coolant leak into the transmission which will require a new transmission, radiator and computer chip. This is my 5th Nissan vehicle and obviously my last. There should have been a recall for this and it is unacceptable how they have chosen to ignore this problem and refuse to accept responsibility for their poor design.

This is total BS and definitely wrong on Nissan's part for not making this a recall or bulletin item. We paid good money for this vehicle believing that Nissan's products were reliable and trust worthy. But now, after investigating and finding that there are class action suits for this particular vehicle I am pissed as hell. Come on Nissan I had more respect for you than this crap! I am definitely gonna be a part of this law suit and will do everything in my power to ensure that I protest and spread the word that your products are not reliable and that NISSAN is not fair with its' customers and are a bunch of CROOKS.

I was the proud owner of a 2007 Nissan Pathfinder. I recently found out that I need to have my radiator replaced and now the fluid from the radiator has began to leek into the transmission line. I'm pissed. I'm just about done paying off my truck and now this!!!!!!

Pathfinder LE V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 81,900 miles

Just like everyone else I was driving one day and started feeling the "running over bumps" feeling. I took it to 3 places to determine that the radiator and transmission fluids were mixing which has ruined the Radiator, Transmission, and Transmission Cooler. ($6,000 fix) I found out that this was something Nissan extended the warranty on to 80K miles, my car has 81,800 miles. I called Nissan, they submitted my request to the "good will" program. I told them I didn't want their charity I just wanted them to fix the problem that they were aware of. They called me a few days later to tell me that because I have only owned 3 Nissan's in the past, and because I had it serviced at Texaco and not Nissan that they would not cover it. I have never been more insulted in my life. ONLY 3 CARS< REALLY????? I can tell you one thing I will NEVER own another nor will anyone I know or come in contact with. BUYERS BE WARE!!!!!! This should have been a recall!! Now I am stuck with a car that I owe $17,000 on that needs $6,000 to be fixed that NO one will want to buy! Please include me in any law suit!

Pathfinder SE 3.2L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 95,687 miles

I took my vehicle to three independent transmission car repairs shops and they all advised me that they were familiar with this problem because they had customers who came to their shop once the Nissan company would not assist them with repairing their transmission. I took my vehicle to an independent Nissan dealership where they advised that they had three pathfinders there for the same problem. The gave me Nissan's 1800 consumer affairs number because my SUV was over the 80K mileage limit and that I would need to speak them to receive an approval. The independent dealership advised me that if I paid for out of pocket that it would cost me $9,000 and that I should just purchase a new car then. I called the consumer affairs number where I spoke with at least 6 representatives who gave me the run around. On the third day which was March 14th a representative called me and advised that Nissan was not going to assist me in this matter because I am over the mileage limit. This is not fair Nissan knew that the parts (transmisson and radiator) was defective and they should be responsible for what they have done instead encouraging customers (victims) to buy another vehicle with them. Mr. Carlos Ghosen(CEO of Nissan) should be held accountable for this action. He should take responsiblity for this and not put restrictions on the warranty.

Pathfinder V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 102,000 miles

This experience has been absolutely terrible. I am a mother and drive to all of the activities everyday which adds immense stress on me everyday knowing that any second my car will break down leaving us stranded. I bought my Pathfinder used from the Nissan dealership and have barely owned it for 2 years. I took it into the dealership after it was running running at 40mph and would not let me accelerate and making crazy grinding noises as though I were riding on the road shoulder. The dealership informed me that it wasn't a problem with my transmission but my radiator leaking coolant into the transmission which as a result ruined the transmission. Having done research on the issue I have read that it is a common issue with these models and that Nissan corporate is well aware of and refuse to do anything about it. This is a great big safety issue imposed on my family and I am terrified to even drive. I am upside down on my vehicle and cannot trade it in on a new vehicle and am left with my hands tied. I am joining the other millions out there filing a class action suit against Nissan in the hopes of resolving this issue.

Pathfinder SE V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 85,500 miles

I purchased my 2007 Pathfinder in July of '07. I am the only owner of this vehicle and was pleased up until this point. When my vehicle would reach around 45-50mph it started to "shudder". I took it to my local Nissan dealership and they informed me the radiator fluid had contaminated my transmission and as a result both would need to be replaced. The repair cost was quoted at $6300. I was also informed Nissan was aware of the problem and they had extended the warranty to 80,000 miles ,however, since I was out of mileage I wouldn't qualify to have the service covered. I have contacted several Nissan representatives and ALL have given me the run around. I have filed an official complaint with NHTSA and I am currently contacting my state Consumer Protection Agency (Texas Attorney General). I am willing to be apart of the Class Action Lawsuit.

Pathfinder V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 109,000 miles

I recieved in the mail an extension on the warranty for the radiator assembly up to 96 months or 80,000 miles. It states that vehicles equipped with automatic transmissions, a crack in the radiator assembly might occur at higher mileages leading to internal leakage of engine coolant. So my Pathfinder has this problem that occured when the milage rolled over to somewhere around 109,000. Which Nissan will not warranty now! So how do they get away with sending out an extended warranty on a problem that they know is happening to almost everyone and not sending out a recall? I spent almost $600.00 replacing the radiator and the transmission is bad due to the leak, so now I have to spend anywhere from $3000 to $5000 for a transmission!!!! WOW Nissan is terrible, plus 2 dealer ships have gone under here in Overland Park Kansas.

I called Nissian Customer Service and they refuse to due anything to help. I will be calling the National Consumer Affairs Department! Also I read online somewhere that there is a class action suit on Nissan with this problem but it was for 3 models of their cars!!!

Update from Apr 9, 2012: I had a shop replace the transmission that cost me around $2500.00 Nissan has not reimbursed me or offered to help. So I have replaced the radiator and transmission and now I still have to replace the fuel sending unit that a shop told me was going to be another $500.

Update from Jan 10, 2013: Well Nissan sent me another extension on the warranty for the radiator and transmission with a $2500 deductalbe! What a JOKE! It cost me $2200 to replace the transmission!!! They refused to do anything about the problem! As you can read here on these post we all have the same exact problem!!!! Faulty radiator leaking into the transmission and ruining the transmission. Plus the mechanic that replaced our transmission ( not at the dealership ) said he just had another Nissan come in with the same problem again after they had a new transmission in. Nissan is admitting there is a problem just by sending out 2 extended warranties, the second extended warranty is a joke with the deductable just about the same price as the transmission. I will never buy a Nissan again, customer service is a joke, they don't know what customer service means. I will again post on facebook about my Nissan problems so everyone can see how terrible they are! I traded my Nissan in on a Chevy Jan 7, 2013... right before I did my new transmission was acting up! WOW

Update from Jan 16, 2013: Now I got a letter in the mail that there is a class action lawsuit on the transmission problem with Nissan, I have to send in my reciepts for fixing the transmission and radiator. I may or may not be reimbursed and Nissan says in the letter they are not admitting any gilt!!!!!!!!!!!! WOW

I am a 2007 Nissan Pathfinder owner. If you own this vehicle sell it ASAP! Once you get over 100,000 miles it becomes a progressive nightmare. WELL I SEE THAT I AM NOT ALONE IN THIS WAR WITH NISSAN. FINALLY TOOK MY 2007 NISSAN PATHEFINDER TO TRANSMISSION REPAIR SHOP JUST FOR HIM TO TELL ME THAT THE RADIATOR FLUID HAS BEEN LEAKING INTO THE TRANSMISSION!!!! NOW FROM WHAT I HAVE READ, MOST OF YOU GUYS HAVE ALREADY BEEN FIGHTING WITH CORPORATE AND LOCAL NISSAN DEALERSHIPS ABOUT THIS ISSUE. I SUPPOSE YOU CAN ADD ME TO THIS WAR BECAUSE THEY ARE ABOUT TO HEAR IT FROM ME A WELL.

I HAVE OWNED 6 DIFFERENT NISSAN MODELS SINCE 1995 AND THIS ISTHE FIRST ONE THAT I HAVE EVER HAD PROBLEMS WITH; AS A MATTER OF FACT, THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THAT I HAVE BEEN WITHOUT A CAR TO DRIVE IN 19 YEARS!!! I HAVE EVEN GOTTEN NISSAN 3 NEW CUSTOMERS WITHIN THE LAST 5 YEARS. I JUST GRADUATED FROM COLLEGE TWO DAYS AGO WITH A PRE-LAW DEGREE AND NOW I AM WITHOUT ANYTHING TO DRIVE!!! I WILL HAVE NO PROBLEM ADDING MYSELF TO A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT AGAINST NISSAN!! BETTER YET, IF THEY REFUSE TO TAKE ACTION AND FIX MY VEHICLE, I WILL BE CONTACTING GOOD MORNING AMERICA, CNN AND CSNBC NEWS.

I WORK TO HARD AND HAVE SPENT TOO MUCH MONEY OVER THE YEARS TO HAVE NISSAN NORTH AMERICA IGNORE MY CONSUMER COMPLAINT!! THEY WILL BE HEARING FROM ME IN AMERICA AND OVERSEAS!!!

Pathfinder LX V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 120,000 miles

I haven't finished paying off my car and already the transmission of my Nissan Pathfinder 2007 XL is failing. The radiator spilled the cooling liquid into the transmission, which then proceeded to cause serious problems to the transmission. The guaranty expired after 100 000 miles, even though prior to that the mileage the guaranty still applied. Now, in order to fix the transmission, or replace it for a new one, will cost me over $5000USD. I'd like to unite to the existing complaints/lawsuit against Nissan on the matter of the faults found in the 2007 Nissan Pathfinder, as I feel that is unfair that the company with the knowledge of fault in its product has not warned the public and has proceeded to sell the product to the public, leaving us with a faulty machine that in the end is more expensive, and not a satisfactory product. I am hopeful that the company will response to all of our complaints, stepping forward and taking responsibility for the inconvenience they have caused, and hopefully taking ownership of the expenses that due to their lack of responsibility, have been incurred on to us, the consumers.

Pathfinder SE

  • Automatic transmission
  • 76,589 miles

Beginning in March 2011 I began noticing that when accelerating car seemed hard to shift like it was sticking causing some jerking and some grinding noises. Took pathfinder to mechanic and they found that the transmission fluid needed changing due to it being the color of a Dr. Pepper. They changed the transmission fluid and that seemed to help for a short time, but in May 2011 I was back with the same problems and it was at this time the crack in the radiator was found which was leaking coolant into the transmission. At this point the transmission fluid was the color of chocolate milk that had been sitting outside in 100 degree weather. (I actually have this in a bottle for proof). The radiator was replaced with a new one and the transmission was flushed.

Contacted Nissan due to the recall letter that was received and they refused to reimburse me for any of the money I paid to fix this problem even though the problem initally began under the 80,000 mile extended warranty. When I called Nissan it took 4 days for anyone to call me back and it took almost another week for them to call me back just to tell me no they would not reimburse me. Their customer service SUCKS!!!!!! and is by far the worst that I have ever dealt with. As far as I am concerned they are nothing but a bunch of theives and crooks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Pathfinder SE

  • 88,500 miles

In May 2011 I had to have a new radiator put into my Pathfinder due to coolant leaking into the radiator. A month later my check engine light came on and I took it to the Nissan dealership and the mechanic informed me that the valve body inside of the transmission (which contained a sensor) replaced, but he also informed me that just repairing the valve body would not be sufficient enough to solve the problem due to previous customers returning in ~6 months with the same problems and so he suggested that the best way to fix the problem was to put in a new transmission. He suggested that I contact Nissan to see if they would offer any assistance due to problem being a result of coolant leaking into the transmission. When I called Nissan it took 4 days for anyone to call me back and it took almost another week for them to call me back just to tell me no they would not give me any assistance even though the problem was due to the faulty equipment that they used during the manufacturing of the vehicle and they knew this was a defect or they would not have issued a recall for this problem. Their customer service SUCKS!!!!!! and is by far the worst that I have ever dealt with. As far as I am concerned they are nothing but a bunch of theives and crooks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Pathfinder

  • Automatic transmission
  • 88,000 miles

We purchased our 2007 Nissan Pathfinder new and also purchased the extended warranty. We were just saying how wonderful our Nissan Pathfinder has been to us a few months ago. Then, the warranty ran out. A couple of weeks ago, we were driving on the freeway and it sounded like we were driving over lane dividers, (sound familiar) My husband immediately made an appointment with Nissan and they said to bring it in. We found out through a nice person who had also dealt with this problem what the real deal was. Nissan told us they had previously sent us an extended warranty to 80,000 miles. (convenient, huh?) when we were now at 88,000 miles. We had never received news of this extension. My husband called the number we were given to complain to corporate and got the "please hold" and then hung up on several times. Luckily, the dealer gave us a loaner car so we are not out of transportation right now. And, they did say they would pay for the parts but not the labor. My husband said, "no way". You made a faulty product; you should pay the whole thing. We shall see what happens....

Regardless, if they don't do the right thing, we will not ever purchase Nissans again!!!!

It sucks when you have three kids in school, and are on disability. My pathfinder was not running right. Took it in and the worst news to a man who doesn't have the money. The radiator fluid leaked into transmission. I need a new transmission. Then they tell me because I am over 80,000 miles, They cant help me. What can I say but that was like a ton of bricks on my shoulder. They said in a week my car will be ready. Then they said "We got the wrong part another week or more" More frustration. The only car I have. My kids need to go to school bumming rides with friends. Called corporation they also gave me the run around. Then they hung up on me..HARD TIMES a problem they knew about don't count it as a recall. How many family's who are struggling have to go thru this.? Why is this company sweeping this problem under the rug ??? Why does it take a person or more to get hurt before they fix this ??? Is this like Toyota covering a big problem to the consumers ?? WARNING your car can cause you a big pain in your wallet... 2005-2010 Pathfinder,Xterra, and Frontier. That's what we know of so far... Take it in BEFORE warranty runs out.. Please repeat on facebook, twitter and any other way to inform the consumers..... Nissan should help everyone with this expensive repair. It's only right they should back up on their promise. Quality Nissan. (YA RIGHT)

Pathfinder SE4WD 4.0L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 86,000 miles

Noticed a rumbling from the transmission or rear end when gently accelerating at 42 mph while transmission in high - like going over a rumble strip. Called Bowser Nissan in Pittsburgh, where the car has been maintained, to schedule an appointment as we were leaving on a family vacation in 5 days. I managed to wrangle an appointment for Wednesday am. Bowser never called me; I had to call them to ascertain the status of the issue. I was told that the radiator had cracked and leaked coolant into the transmission and more than likely I'd have to have the radiator, transmission and transmission coolant cooler replaced. They suggested that I call Nissan America. I did. Their voice mail system seems to be designed to keep their customers from talking to anyone who can help them. Polite, foreign women always apologized but never got me anywhere. I was issued a case number (7198483) and told that a "regional specialist" would be in contact. Amanda called me later to tell me that she was looking into my issue. We spoke and she said that the fact that I was a loyal customer, having had my Pathfinder maintained by the dealership and that I had previously owned two other Nissan's "Made me look good" This was my last communication with anyone from Nissan North America without my calling them. Their stated policy I later learned was to return calls within two business days. Thank God I wasn't stranded somewhere due to their product's failure. Finally, on the Friday before the Fourth of July I spent the better part of the afternoon trying to track down someone - Anyone -who could tell me what was going on. I finally got to speak with a regional specialist out of Boston who was "not equipped" to either answer any questions or help me in any way, although she did say she'd put me in the "escalation folder" and a regional supervisor would call me Tuesday. It's now Tuesday and there are ninety minutes left in the business day. I did, however speak with the Bower Nissan dealership service manager, Jim, who told me "Oh, yeah. I got an email from Nissan yesterday...Lemme get it. They are offering no goodwill". I then asked Jim what the dealership's recommended course of action was, to which he replied, "Oh, nobody got that to you? $6400". Now here we are. I'm contacting this web-site and the class-action lawyers, as well as my state and national representative, as well as the dealership's owner. I have also contacted local transmission specialists here in Pittsburgh to get bids on the work. This is clearly a design flaw and Nissan should do the right thing. I guarantee that they have actuaries hard at work to determine at what point it's not worth the bad press to fix their failed products. Ugh.

Update from Oct 5, 2013: Now it seems that I'm getting the runaround from the claims administrator. They've sent me two "notice of deficient claim form" letters. The first one had NO reason for deficient claim, so I and my wife signed that and returned it. Today we got another stating that we had not submitted documentation of cross-contamination. I had included the Bowser Nissan (local dealer) diagnosis with initial paperwork. It feels like they're trying to inconvenience me enough that I move on or that they're looking for ways around payment. Please post here if you've experienced similar shenanigans.
