My wife and I were returning from a Thanksgiving trip to relatives in Virginia southbound on I 95 She was driving and we both felt the car shudder as we began to lose speed. There was no acceleration even though the Tachometer was in a high range. We limped into a Rest Area, shut down the car and called a tow service. We were towed to Deacon Jones Nissan in Golsboro, N.C. where we were told we needed a new transmission. The Service Manager told us this CVT transmission is supposed to be serviced every 30 K miles. We were at 87734. There was never a dashboard warning light to that effect nor any notice from Nissan. Our expenses were: Transmission=$6619.34; Towing=$155; 2 nights at hotel=$201.38

I first started noticing this transmission acceleration problem about a year ago when my vehicle has been in stop-and-go traffic for at least 30 minutes or more, the transmission feels like it is going to stall. Pressing on the gas won-??t accelerate the vehicle or it is very slow to start moving no matter how hard the gas pedal is pressed. The rpm speeds to 4-5 x1000 but the transmission gear feels stuck at 40mph max. Usually I have noticed that if I am able to pull over and stop the car for a few minutes, I can restart the car engine and didn-??t-??t see signs of the problem again. My husband believes it-??s a transmission and gear shift problem that once the Rogue has been in stop-and-go traffic the system isn-??t shifting gears correctly. It put myself and my husband at risk since we took the vehicle on a road trip, my husband finally witnessed this happening. It usually only happened to me when I-??m coming home sitting in traffic. When I got off the freeway to surface streets, being stuck at stoplights or stop signs had this issue occur a couple of times. I took my vehicle to my local Nissan dealer for inspection but the tech. said they couldn-??t mimic/reproduce the problem/issue I was reporting. No other inspection has been made. And no warning lights came on during the problem the few times it has happened. The engine was really loud this most recent time because I was unable to stop and pullover right away. I am open to having my vehicle inspected further for this issue.

Issue occurs when driving around a 30 minute plus commute. When driving at an incline the vehicle fails to accelerate and reduces speeds rapidly changing from 65 mph to 40 mph. Rather scary to have cars flying by with lost of acceleration. There has been 3 incidents of this occurring. No accident occurred was able to pull over each time due to driving in the slow lane.

I own a 2015 Nissan Rogue with 70,000 miles.Pulling into driveway at 2mph, car suddenly accelerated by itself, leaving me with no control over the car and unable to make it stop before hitting a truck in the rear and pushing the truck sideways. The truck had been parked in driveway. Brakes did not stop the acceleration. Skid marks noted for a couple of feet. Had my 3 year old grandson in the back seat in his car seat. Person's truck I hit, saw the whole event happen. Engine rev'd up and jerked forward. No one was hurt but I was hysterical having my grandson in the car with me. Car had to be towed and still needing to be taken to repair shop. Awaiting to hear from insurance agent on which autobody shop it should be taken to. Truck that I hit had a lot of rear damage.

I was in a small parking lot for a playground in wayland, MA. I was driving very slowly as kids can come out of nowhere. I found a spot to park on the left, so I turned my wheels and went in. To make a complete stop, I pressed on the brake. Suddenly the car accelerate, and go through the chain link fence, with the engine making a roaring sound. I immediately pushed harder on the brake, as the car went through the fence. The vehicle stopped when I pushed on the brake harder to the floor.

Our cvt transmission went out while going 70 down the highway. Completely out of the blue, no prior symptoms. No acceleration. Almost got into multiple accidents. Nissan will not pay anything to help us with this, despite the thousands of submitted issues with cvt transmissions. Our family has 3 Nissan and 2 have had cvt failures. We will never buy Nissan's again.

My car was in motion while driving on the interstate when I realized my car was losing power while I was trying to accelerate. My car did not come to a complete stop but it dropped from 70 mph down to 30 mph gradually. I was able to safely move my car to the side of the road and call for roadside assistance. Weeks before I noticed my RPM hand jumping erratically and when I went to get to diagnostics no one could find anything wrong with my car. I finally took it to Nissan on the day that I was driving on the interstate and I lost acceleration. I was informed by several mechanics that it was my transmission and that Nissan has an issue with transmissions and it wasn't worth the money to be replaced.

2015 Nissan Rogue, brought brand new, has 63,000 miles. Having transmission issues for >9 months. I have had no previous issues until then. I cannot drive for more than 30+ min before my vehicle starts stalling at stoplights/stop signs. When I go to accelerate after briefly stopping, the car stutters and bucks until I press harder on the acceleration. The stuttering gets worse the longer you drive it. The safety issue with a car not properly accelerating when you need it to, is concerning. I have taken it to the Nissan dealership multiple times and they claim they cannot "duplicate" the issue, while the technician admitted to experiencing my complaint while he drove it a few times. They say nothing can be done because no codes are rendering a problem and I have to wait for the "problem" to get worse or ultimately, until the transmission "goes out" as the Nissan rep told me.

  • 76,500 miles
Driving on interstate at approx.70 mph, and cruise control kicked off by itself at least 3 times. Then all of a sudden I lost power, it was not like a out of gas loss, it just slowed down. I had the gas pedal floored to maintain speed as I was traveling at 70mph in heavy traffic on interstate. I moved to the outside lane to avoid any chance of an accident and took the next exit to turn around and go back home. When I got onto the entrance ramp back to the interstate, it took me about 1/2 mile at least to get up to speed again. Since I got back home everything appears normal but I am afraid to travel any distance in case I should loose power again I have had the vehicle put on the computer monitor and they say nothing is showing as wrong. During this exam I was told that if the engine warning light never came on the computer check would not show anything. At no time during the power outage did the engine warning light or any warning device show up.

Rogue

  • 27,000 miles
The contact owns a 2015 Nissan Rogue. While driving approximately 55 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning and was unable to be restarted. Once restarted, the vehicle was shifted into reverse and the vehicle stalled again. Additionally, while the vehicle was idling at traffic lights, the rpms would idle at a low rate with the vehicle almost at the point of stalling. The vehicle also hesitated when accelerating from a stop. The vehicle was towed to Nissan of stockton (located at 3077 E hammer ln, stockton, ca 95212, (209) 956-6500) to be diagnosed, but the mechanic was unable to retrieve a fault code or duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the failure occurred six times daily. The manufacturer was contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 27,000.

Takata recall, I was driving back from denver going West in I70. Tried to go over eisenhower pass and my car felt like it was stuck going uphill. It would not accelerate past 45mph even if I stepped all the way down on the gas pedal. After driving over the the pass, going downhill it seemed to have resolved. But now everytime I try to drive uphill, it will not go past 40-45mph.

The contact owns a 2015 Nissan Rogue. While driving various speeds or upon starting the vehicle, the chassis control module, check engine, and traction control warning indicators illuminated. Also, the "see owner's manual" message was displayed on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to Nissan of picayune (239 frontage rd, picayune, ms 39466 (601) 889-5454) where it was diagnosed that the throttle body needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred three days later. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the ECM needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired a second time, but the next day, the warning indicators and message reappeared. The contact took the vehicle back to the dealer a third time and was informed that the wiring harness between the throttle body and ECM needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired because the dealer could not guarantee that the failure would not recur. A few months later, the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who could not diagnose a failure and referred the contact to NHTSA. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 65,000.

I was driving South on military trail preparing to turn right at pipers glen. The light was green and there was a white car in the middle lane waiting to enter military. I slowed down to make my turn and suddenly my car accelerated. If I continued to turn there was no doubt I would have hit the waiting car. I proceeded straight, passed this car and drove onto a grassy area. My front wheel hit the curb which slowed my car but pushed me along the side of the white car causing damage to both cars. The fire trucks came and a police car. Since no one was hurt I was instructed to leave my car there to be towed. My son picked me up and I called the towing co. About 1 hour later I was called and told the tow was on the way. When we arrived to where my car was I was surprised to see the front lights on. There was a motor noise and the hood was hot. Whenwe left the car there it was locked and the motor was not on. If this were not the case I would not have been able to lock this car having a keyless entry. I am concerned about ever driving this car with less than 10,000 miles. I called both Nissan and the repair company and reported what happened. They told me they would scan the car but sometimes nothing shows up. I use military trail almost every day and pipers glen leads to my home. I am happy that no one was hurt but haunted by realizing what may have happened if I attemped to make that right turn.both these roads are city streets.I have no picturesexcept for my memory.
