On Monday I was on my way to work when my ABS Light, Traction Control Light, and Parking Brake Light all came on at the same time and a message on the dash that said -??Service ABS System-??. I took my truck to the dealership on 12-Sep for them to look at it. The dealership advised my ABS Control Module failed and needs to be replaced but they cannot get one until April of 2024. When I asked about the safety of driving the vehicle, I was advised the vehicle can be driven but I need to be very cautious while driving because I have no anti-lock brakes until the part is replaced. I travel on the interstate daily for my kids school and to work for 45-60 minutes in each direction during rush hour traffic. Not having anti-lock brakes makes me concerned my safety, the safety of my kids, and the safety of anyone around me should I have to slam on brakes in an emergency.

ABS module has failed. It is available for inspection for a limited time. I have to send it to a repair facility. My ABS module controls speedometer, tire pressure sensors, seat belt chime rings constantly even when seatbelt is engaged. Several lights on the dash flash or remain on. The hydraulic pump runs and kills my battery when parked. There were no symptoms prior to failure. Only after failure. The problem has been inspected and confirmed by 2 repair facilities. One facility told me they had 18 on back-order when I inquired on a repair. There is a nationwide shortage per the Dodge Ram dealers. I have contacted Dealers, repair service centers and Dodge Corporate Headquarters. They said they have it under engineering review until August. My truck is unsafe to drive because I cannot regulate my speed (speedometer), may get rapid tire deflation (TPMS), parking brake lights sensors remain on.

I have a failure of the ABS pump and eletrical actuator. I took it to my dealer for an estimate for repair. The dealer told me it was not on the recall list for repair. I was told they could not get a new replacement and want to replace the parts with used parts from the junk yard. I was told that the cost would be $950 including the scan but there is no guarantee. Why is this safety issue not covered by a recall? The blog pages for dodge ram are full of people complaining about the failure.

I filed a complaint on 7/4/2022, complaint number 11472254. Since then, I have done some research and found out that there have been MANY FAILURES OF THE ABS MODUALS on RAM trucks. I have attempted to buy a new one, but there are none. I called dealerships around the United States, and many have some in stock but can't sell them (won't sell them). And if I try and order from a local dealership, the part has a 6-month lead time. I have asked why the has not been a recall and I have been told it's not a safety issue and that traction control is a nice to have option. While looking at a new dodge Ram, I noticed that traction control and antilock brakes are listed under SAFETY (please see attached). If this is a SAFETY issue, why hasn't there been a RECALL issued?

My ABS Module light came on, along with my traction control and emergency brake light and my cruise stopped working. I took it to the dealer and they said it was an ABS Module, but it would be six months before I could get one. There are no ABS Modules available, evey dealer I have called has some but they can't sell them. My question is, why are there none available. The dealers say they are a known problem and with losing traction control it seems to be a safety problem, yet there is no recall on them. My truck is drivable, but not safely without traction control. Can someone look into this?

On May 16th 2022 I was driving my truck when the ABS LIGHT, TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT, EMERGENCY BRAKE LIGHT came on and my cruise control stopped working. I put a code reader on it and it gave me 220049, ABS system. To narrow it down to a component I had to take it tp a Dodge service. For $138 they told me it was an ABS Module internl failure. They said they could get me one for $1200, but it would take 6 months. Back logged due to covid. I came back home and tried to find one, no luck nobody had any available. So i found a company in GA that repairs them. I sent it in and had it repaired for under $300. When I got it back I installed it and it worked for less than a month. I started doing some research, looks like the reason there are no ABS Modules available is because everyone is having problems with the ABS Modules and it started well before covid. My truck only has 62,000 miles.on it as well as a lot of other trucks having problems. I know the brakes will continue to work if the ABS Module goes out but you lose traction control. If this is such an issue? Dodge should own up to the problem and send out a recall and fix then known problem

These trucks have a known issue of rust causing failure of parking brakes to release. There are hundreds of complaints on forums, and dozens of youtube videos discussing this issue, and trying to provide repairs. One major issue is the rear axel hub is part of the problem, as this is where rust accumulates, and prevents the release of the parking brake, because the build up of rust causes the parking brake levers to seize. Chrysler does not offer the part that is affected, the entire axel would have to be replaced. This is an absurd design, that is prone to failure in any rust prone areas, and is aggravated because of further design flaws that don't allow for simple repair. It's easy to see the issue, when the parking brake is released, the parking brake cable hangs loosely under the truck, easily visible. When the brakes can't be released the parking brake shoes stay in contact with the drum, causing heat and eventually the friction material will completely separate from the shoes, which could cause the wheel to seize and not be able to rotate. I bought my truck used, and it came to me this way, which is another issue as the dealer should have repaired any safety defects.

While in the process of unhitching my camping trailer, I put the truck in reverse to gently center the tow ball under the hitch when the vehicle suddenly accelerated at high RPMs and lurched backward. I braked but the engine continued racing at high speed. Braking was completely ineffective as the tires continued "burning rubber" on the pavement. My wife was helping me guide the vehicle when this occurred. The only thing that prevented an accident and serious injury to my wife and me was the trailer. The trailer's wheels were still chocked, but the sudden, forceful acceleration dislodged the jack stand and pushed the trailer back approximately 4 to 5 inches. The acceleration stopped on its own after approximately 30 seconds. This was a terrifying experience that had the potential for a tragic outcome. This problem has not been yet been diagnosed by a dealer or service center, as it just occurred a few hours ago. There were no warning lamps or any other symptoms preceding it.

Upon starting the vehicle, there was a blinking light in the instrument cluster which appeared to be a steering wheel icon followed by an exclamation point. When I put the vehicle into "drive" and pulled forward, the steering wheel was locked and would not turn side to side. I put the vehicle into park, turned it off, and then turned it back on. The blinking light was no longer activated, and the vehicle turned normally. I drove approximately 1/4 of a mile and was in traffic traveling straight when the blinking light came back on (same icon) and the steering locked up. I was traveling at a low speed and was able to turn the vehicle onto a side street where I was able to park it and call a tow truck. Upon some research in Ram truck forums online, it appears possible this is related to the "EPS" (Electronic Power Steering) module on the truck. Other Ram owners have experienced this same malfunction while driving, sometimes resulting in accidents. My experience appears similar to that of others who have described the intermittency of this issue. That very intermittency is what makes this such a dangerous issue that the manufacturer should be addressing proactively. I will not put my family back into this vehicle until the issue is ID'd and repaired by the manufacturer.

After returning home from a brief trip approximately 20 mi I came home, I then left my house driving approximately 3 mi when I was in the middle of a busy intersection, as I started to go through the intersection my truck suddenly died I was able to coast through the intersection, with no power steering and no assisted power brakes, using a lot of force I was able to bring the truck to a complete stop, on the edge of a busy road while I waited for help to arrive. I called a tow truck and had the vehicle towed to a local dealership, they told me a part that was called a tone wheel had failed. After doing a bit of online searching I see that this is a fairly common problem amongst these Ram eco-diesels. Upon further investigation I find that certain eco-diesels ranging from 2014 to 2018 were being recalled for this part but my particular 2014 is not included the part is a wheel that a sensor looks at and times the fuel system with the other engine components for combustion when this sensor doesn't see the wheel it does not know where the rest of the engine is in its cycle causing it to shut off immediately giving it no power to propel itself to a safe spot. The recall W58 as it's known in fca Ram trucks should fix this issue with a simple program change whereas the dealer wants to replace the part with a exact replacement which will likely have the same problem the next time we may not be so lucky. My fear is that if my wife or my teen age son would be driving it, they may not have had the strength to steer it and stop in a safe place I believe I was lucky. As I understand it the recall is a simple program change and eliminates the defective tone wheel system in question. I believe the recall should apply to my truck and proves that they know that they have a problem with this system.

In my driveway, while backing up, left rear brake pad simply fell out of the brake onto the driveway. Brake pedal went to the floor. Truck wouldn't stop until brake pumped back up.. dealer says "this happens". really? there was no accident; no impact; no effort at self-repair or parts replacement. It just fell out. Frightening.

While driving the 2014 Ram 1500 the vehicle has lost power numerous times. This is an intermittent issue and I have not been able to duplicate on the spot. This means that the lose of power can happen at any given time. This lose of power will result in losing steering and sometimes braking, since all are controlled by electronics. These occurrences have happened while normal driving conditions; rolling up windows, turning on bright lights, and just driving.

This has happened on a multitude of occasions. While driving the vehicle, the check engine light, the traction control light will both come on. At the same time as the lights the messages show up and say to service shifter knob, then right after that the service trailer brake system message shows up and will be the only message found in the messages folder. The check engine light and the traction control light stay on. When trying to get the traction control light to go out by pressing the traction control button, nothing happens. This is telling me that I do not have any traction control. This will become a major issue when it snows. Each of these instances have happened while moving both on and off the highway and while at a stop. This has happened also while on the highway about seven months ago while on the highway in the snow.

The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. While driving approximately 60 mph and attempting to pass another vehicle in the next lane, the contact depressed the accelerator pedal. The pedal traveled to the floorboard and did not release, causing the vehicle's speed to increase to approximately 80 mph. The contact depressed the brake pedal in attempt to slow down the vehicle; however, it failed to slow down until the contact deactivated the cruise control and depressed the brake pedal. The contact pulled the vehicle over to the side of the road, placed the gear in park, and turned off the vehicle. The brake and electronic throttle failure warning indicators illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to Suburban Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of troy (located at 1790 maplelawn dr, troy, mi 48084, 248-585-8800) where it was diagnosed that the throttle body failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failures and provided case number: [xxx]. the approximate failure mileage was 72,500. The truck was driving on the expressway when the brakes suddenly went out. We were able to get it off the expressway and to a dealership that was right there. Suburban Chrysler Dodge. They inspected it and found a bolt that holds the caliper in place broke and the caliper became dislodged. It jammed into the rotor and caused all kinds of issues.

The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. While braking, the contact smelled oil and rubber burning. The contact stated that the brake pedal traveled to the floorboard and the vehicle barely stopped once he arrived home. The vehicle was towed to tallahassee Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram Fiat (3987 w Tennessee St, tallahassee, fl 32304, (844) 280-9221) where it was diagnosed that the brake line collapsed. The failure caused the brake caliper to close down and destroy the rotor. The vehicle was repaired at the cost of $1,300 because the extended warranty had expired. The contact felt that the extended warranty was bogus, and he was mislead and lied to by the dealer. The contact felt that the dealer was very dishonest. The failure mileage was 27,387. The $1,300 was the dealer's original estimate of repair cost. See enclosed final repair bill from the dealer. The old original flexible brake lines that went bad were of such poor quality they only lasted 27,387 miles. Anything as important as a brake line, it would seem to me, should last longer than that. The new flexible brake lines are only warranted for 12,000 miles or 12 months. We were fortunate we were in town driving and under when the brakes failed.
