Hydraulic lifters seize up causing the vehicle to lose power. The check engine light comes on with code P0305 meaning the number five cylinder is misfiring this is due to not having enough oil going to the hydraulic lifter. I have mentioned this to the dealership and they said there is no recall on it but they have had a lot of issues and have parts readily available to fix this problem. The safety problem I am having is I do not have enough power to accelerate into traffic or highway entrances

Exhaust manifold leak due to both rear studs breaking on each side of the engine. This is my 3rd dodge ram with the 5.7 liter engine that has had this problem. The other vehicle years were a 2003 Ram 2500 and a 2013 Ram 1500. With as many complaints about this problem, I am surprised there hasn't been a fix and a recall. So far, I am 3 trucks each with the same issue. I would think that two exhaust manifolds leaking in the engine compartment would pose as a safety issue by breathing the fumes sucked into the cab. The dealer repaired this issue thanks to an extended warranty.

Heard engine ticking sound when vehicle had 65k around. It became more and more serious as the vehicle kept aging. On a day in May 2021, I finally figured the cause of ticking sound was the exhaust manifold leak. I brought the vehicle to dealership two days ago and they told me two exhaust manifold bolts on driver side were broken, and one exhaust manifold stud on passenger side was broken. Got bolts and studs replaced with providing MOPAR parts myself. Labor cost itself is $1,190 before tax and misc. charges.

The idle dropped to 550 RPM S (revolutions per minute) which should be 900 RPM and the engine stalled out. This was caused by the crank case PCV (pressure control valve). It's an engineering design flaw in the PCV- it's working in the wrong direction. This also can cause other problems in the vacum system like brake failure and improper fuel consumption, and engine over-heating.

While driving northbound on US411 which is a fairly straight two lane paved road in gordon county ga, I pulled out to pass a slower vehicle. When the engine rpms hit 4500 the truck started to shake and loose power. No codes were thrown at the time. I was forced to slow to below the speed limit and for safety reasons couldn't complete the pass. I pulled over into the shoulder and the truck was experiencing a very rough idle. I turned of the ignition and on restart the engine felt and sounded normal. I continued home. The next day I started the truck and it threw a code. I took it to the Ram dealer, after diagnosis they said it had a bad cam and the engine needed replacement.

While driving at approx. 50 mph the engine suddenly shut off. The warning light flashed service 4WD, check engine light, and many other warning lights on the dash and electronic selector. After stopping, without power brakes working, the truck would not start. I allowed to truck to sit, with flashers on, for about 10 minutes. After the 10 minute wait, the truck started and seem to drive normally. I went directly to local dealership (sharp Dodge in pulaski, tn). The technician wasn't able to find a "code" related to the shut down. They only found indications of "voltage overload" not further defined. This occurred on April 8, 2021 on hwy 31A, approx 0600 hrs near the city of pulaski, tn 38478. Note:. the engine /long block was replaced by the same dealer AT172000 and under mopar warranty due to internal engine issues involving #5 lifter and damaged cam shaft.

The contact pulled to the side of the roadway and had the vehicle towed to bayird Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram of West memphis (1901 S. service rd, West memphis, ar 72301). I had to have my exhaust flex pipe replaced pipe connects engine to exhaust system. I have done research on this problem on vehicles using 3.0liter ecodiesel. The pipe degrades and starts leaking exhaust into the cab. On line forums discuss this problem with all the vehicles that use this motor. 2014 all the way up to 2020 vehicles. The cost for me was $7,000 to have it replaced. The cost itself is difficult for anyone to come up with and I would assume you will look into this further. This is happening at very low mileage, my truck has only 43,000 miles. Some with much less mileage. Please look at this problem as a safety and health issue. The effect of carbonmonoxide poisoning and traffic accidents are high and what it does to the brain. The smell of exhaust gets into the vehicles weather moving or stationary. Thank you!

Engine cylinder misfires. Engine block 5,6, (7,8). Many reported 170 K mileage vehicle broke down middle of intersection. All replaced parts did nothing solve issue. I still owe $26,000 on a 2014 - being told to put a new engine no reversal of shown mileage after replacement. New engine $6 K used engine $5 K. I'm a single mom stuck trying to keep my credit up.

The plastic oil cooler/filter housing cracked and is leaking oil on my Ram truck with V6 pentastar engine. This has been a known issue with this part assembly for several+ years already. It cracked about 3 weeks ago along with several thousands of other people across the united state during the cold weather that a good portion of the United States went through. As of Tuesday, February 23, 2021 there was an estimated 37,700 back orders as per a dealership service tech on this part and as far as I know this is just the factory oem part from dealers, it doesn't include the after market part which is also unavailable and on back order everywhere! no one has this part. It might be available by the middle of March, maybe, the dealers are unsure. A lot of websites say they have it until you call them or they say T will be shipped in March or April, but who really knows that for sure. There is a long history of this part having problems and the consumer having to fix and pay for the automakers bad part and that needs to stop! as of right now there are some 37,700+ that have an oil leak and more than likely cannot even drive the vehicle due to this problem and possibly having to rent or buy another vehicle to get to work and whatever else they need to use it for which is more money out of the consumers pocket. Right now I cannot drive my truck due to this problem and I have no idea when I will get a part for it. Go online and look this problem up and you will find a lot of complaints and how long this problem has been happening. Attached is an image of the bad oil cooler/filter assembly. This part is on a lot of Chrysler/Dodge vehicles with V6 pentastar engines.

I noticed a ticking sound and power loss plus my engine would not rev past 4,000 RPM. The first mechanic stated an exhaust header leak. He found three broken bolts and stated this is a very common 5.7L hemi issue (my research confirmed this). $1,200 to repair. The ticking was still there however. The second mechanic (2 months later) found a misfire on cylinder 5. further digging showed the lifter had failed and the cam lobe was ground down. Metal shavings were dispersed throughout the engine. Best repair was a new engine $9,556. I've now spent almost half of what I paid for this vehicle on repairs. The second mechanic stated this lifter issue is very common too. He was surprised there was not already a recall on this issue. If you scour the web it's abundantly clear that this lifter issue is indeed a problem with both the 5.7L and 6.3L hemi motors. This could be a safety issue if the engine were to catastrophically fail while in motion on the highway or elsewhere.

The failure mileage was approximately 108,982.
