After returning home from a brief trip approximately 20 mi I came home, I then left my house driving approximately 3 mi when I was in the middle of a busy intersection, as I started to go through the intersection my truck suddenly died I was able to coast through the intersection, with no power steering and no assisted power brakes, using a lot of force I was able to bring the truck to a complete stop, on the edge of a busy road while I waited for help to arrive. I called a tow truck and had the vehicle towed to a local dealership, they told me a part that was called a tone wheel had failed. After doing a bit of online searching I see that this is a fairly common problem amongst these Ram eco-diesels. Upon further investigation I find that certain eco-diesels ranging from 2014 to 2018 were being recalled for this part but my particular 2014 is not included the part is a wheel that a sensor looks at and times the fuel system with the other engine components for combustion when this sensor doesn't see the wheel it does not know where the rest of the engine is in its cycle causing it to shut off immediately giving it no power to propel itself to a safe spot. The recall W58 as it's known in fca Ram trucks should fix this issue with a simple program change whereas the dealer wants to replace the part with a exact replacement which will likely have the same problem the next time we may not be so lucky. My fear is that if my wife or my teen age son would be driving it, they may not have had the strength to steer it and stop in a safe place I believe I was lucky. As I understand it the recall is a simple program change and eliminates the defective tone wheel system in question. I believe the recall should apply to my truck and proves that they know that they have a problem with this system.

I was driving my truck down the highway at about 70 mph when a engine light came on and the truck just stopped working. It completely stalled, it was difficult to steer, but luckily I was able to pull over safely. I looked up the warning light and it said it had to do with the crank shaft sensor. The truck would not turn over and I had to have it towed. My truck has now been sitting at a Dodge dealership for 2 months and they are saying it will be another month until they might get the crankshaft sensor in needed to fix it. Here is the thing, Dodge is well aware of the problem. A problem that is so wide spread they literally do not have anymore parts to fix it. They have a recall for it for vehicles manufactured in the us with a work around until they get parts made but because my truck was manufactured in Canada they refuse to put my VIN in with the recall so they can use the work around. I have been in contact with Dodge and have gotten no where. I have another recall that has not been fixed and they say cannot be fixed until they get the crankshaft fixed. This other recall they have known about for over a year and they would tell me to take it on the highway and drive it. Now they are telling me what a fire hazard this recall is.

The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle stalled with the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was restarted and operated as intended. The vehicle was taken to Chrysler Dodge Jeep of paramus (315 NJ-4, paramus, NJ 07652) and was diagnosed that the egr cooler needed to be replaced. The dealer also informed the contact that the part was available for the repair but there were two parts needed to complete the repair and was not available. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 19V757000 (engine and engine cooling) however, the two parts needed to complete the repair were not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving at 60 mph, the vehicle stalled upon depressing the accelerator pedal. The check engine and ECM warning lights were illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact had the vehicle towed to larry H. miller Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram surprise (13165 N autoshow ave, surprise, AZ 85388) where the vehicle was diagnosed with a defective crank sensor and tone ring. The contact was informed of the diagnostic test result and performed a google search and discovered that the VIN was included in NHTSA campaign number: 20V475000 (engine and engine cooling) however, the part to repair the vehicle was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and contacted the dealer to verify if the temporary fix was available. The contact was then notified by the manufacturer that the temporary fix would not be available until December 2020. The vehicle remained in the possession of the dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 95,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

I was driving down the road when suddenly the dummy check engine light came on and my gas gauge went from full to empty. Computer is telling truck there is no fuel and will not allow me to access milage etc on dash board. Iv read online that this has been an on going issue with this vehicle. Why no recall? as this is dangerous. I cant even keep track of milage in order to drive long distance. I see you have to remove truck bed in order to replace junk parts. $1000 cost to the consumer. Ram is aware of this issue and will not help. Thank you for your time.

I have been waiting on this recall for almost a year on my egr cooler and no dealer can get one to replace it. I know that covid 19 has caused production problem but, a year is too long! this vehicle should be replaced at full value for what I have gone through with it. I have filled out all forms and submitted properly on the reimbursement of loss from Chrysler. I still have received no check for that. I call the dealer often and get no response other than that the part has been backordered and not available. What recourse do I have in this matter?

4 manifold exhaust bolts broke off. When starting vehicle you could smell exhaust fumes inside of the cab. This has to be a safety problem and deserves a recall. If you google Ram 1500 with the 5.7L hemi engine and you will see this happens all the time.

My truck has been cutting off while driving on the road. Took it to landmark Dodge in morrow, ga. They did two repairs to fix the problem, and charge me on the 8/31/20 first repair $968.81. It cut off at a couple miles from the shop. Second repairs on the 9/11/20. Pick it up on the 9/14/20. Those repair cost me $1830.20. Again it cut off a couple miles down the road while driving. I had complain before about the faulty totally integrated power module. Dodge had warranty the part. But since then I have replace it four or five times. I paid for the repairs that supposed to fix it. But they are not listening to me. I pull a trailer on the highway, and if the truck cut off, it will put me at risk and who ever driving around me. The dealership had my truck from 8/20/20 to 9/14/20 with same problem that I brought it in for. Now I fill like the truck is a lemon.

Vehicle has been under multiple recall repairs recently and was working properly when it was last in our possession. We took the vehicle to a local dealer for another recall. When they were doing their road test, the vehicle stalled and would not restart. They are now telling us there is a need for a new motor ($13,000 - $14,000). When I was discussing the issue with the local dealership, they informed me that recall W58 had previously been applied to similar Ram 1500S and would have addressed the exact issue that was happening with my vehicle. I am requesting review to have the same recall added to vehicles that are similar to mine.

I received a recall notice from fca stating that a faulty egr cooler can cause fires and is a safety concern. The recall also states that parts are available. I have contacted several Ram dealers and they all tell me that parts are on back order and that each dealer only gets one set of parts per week. I was also told that it may be as long as 6-8 months before my truck can be addressed. Mine is not an isolated incident. As a member of a Ram forum of 17K members, this is an frequent complaint. Since Ram knows that this is a safety issue that could cause a fire, they should be either repairing the vehicles or providing loaner transportation until such time as the repair can be made.

Received recall notice VB1 to replace egr cooler that may cause engine fire. The recall says that parts are available. I contacted 2 dealer and had chat with fca directly. All of them told me that parts are not available. Neither dealer would give me an appointment date and said that there were many ahead of me. Fca said that parts are allocated at 1 set of parts per dealer per week. The bottom line is that these trucks are at risk for fire that could result in injury, but fca is not responsive by the fact that the parts are not available.
