your letter says I can review my report but couldn't find it NHTSA JD#11531515 SO On JULY 7th I started up my truck put it in reverse and had no power steering shut it off and restart still the same could not turn the wheel. I checked the internet someone said check the 2 fuses by battery they were good. had towed on Monday 7-10-23 to Fayetteville dodge they checked it out said I needed a new elect. power rack. they ordered and it took 3 weeks at a total cost $5172.23 out of my pocket. I have pict. of old rack numbers P68230029AA TIC1713C5058 made in LUNGT AN TAIWAN 04301477146714 & 77053805480546 also all paper from dealer with numbers of new rack 68536637AB GEAR RACK and PINION THANK YOU FOR THE WORK YOU

While driving on a busy winding surface street, as I was accelerating from a stop at a traffic light, I received an audible notification chime, accompanied by a red power steering warning light, and a message in the message center to "Service Power Steering." My steering wheel immediately became exceptionally difficult/heavy to turn. I was able to overpower the resistance and maintain vehicle control, but needed to drive much slower than posted speed limits and the flow of traffic to maintain directional control. I was able to drive to a safe location and stop. This is the first instance of this occurring in my vehicle. After stopping, I was able to inspect all fuses and electrical connections and verified that they were all in working order. I am grateful that this occurred while I was driving, and not my wife or daughter, and that it did not occur at a high rate of speed. Otherwise, the situation could have turned disastrous. After one day of leaving the vehicle alone, I started it, and the steering worked normally. However, within a few moments, the same indications repeated, including the chime, warning lights, and high resistance to turning the wheel. I am taking the vehicle into a service center within days.

Power steering is failing. Only doing it intermittently as of now flashing red steering wheel appears for a minute when it first started and goes away and steering is restored took it to dealer and the parts seem to be not readily available and quoted me 3000+ dollars for parts And $1100 for labor and said the whole power steering rack has to be replaced. Could go out completely soon and dealer part not available or aftermarket

Power steering does not work. Red steering wheel symbol on dash board. scan for codes has code c212a-84 sytem voltage.Code c2217-00 Ekectric poer steering module internal shorted. Code 2128-00 ecu -reset recovery occured. There are no electric power steering rack and pinion unit available part # 68628858aa. I ordered the part from My local dealer network I am # 345 on order list of people waiting expected possible December / January 2024. The replacement part # fits Ram 1500 from 2013 thru 2023 no data for 2024 this is a very big problem I can not drive my truck safety with out power steering.The 2015 model year has a recall for the electric power steering unit this should be expanded. There Are to many parts on order for Ram truck no to know there are problems.THank you

I was driving 60mph and my power steering wheel stop working and a light on dashboard from steering power wheel came on, I could not steer, it was really difficult and dangerous to drive though traffic it was almost impossible to turn the vehicle. I am reading a recall for my car This recall applies to 2013-2019 Ram 1500 trucks equipped with electronic power steering (EPS). Some EPS gear assemblies may have been built with a contaminated circuit card assembly that may short circuit. A short in the control circuit components may result in an intermittent loss of power steering assist.

Purchased this vehicle new in 2014- after driving it today for about 20 miles it was parked for about two hours at work when I went to leave I noticed that my power steering wasn't working & a message came up on the dash board "Service Power Steering"- Never experienced this problem before or had any warning that something was wrong. Vehicle was almost impossible to turn, fortunately I was only about six miles from home. Very Scary

The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The vehicle contact stated while starting the vehicle, the power steering warning light illuminated and the vehicle lost power steering functionality. The contact stated that upon restarting the vehicle later in the day, the power steering was operable. The contact stated that the failure had been recurring increasingly. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the electric power steering (EPS) gear needed to be replaced, and the contact was informed that the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 19E077000 (Steering); however, the part was not available. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 78,500.

The Power Steering went out on my 2014 RAM 1500 at approximately 98,000 miles. The first time this happened, while I was driving at low speeds, the steering wheel would intermittently lock up. I couldn't turn the steering wheel, intermittently. I brought the truck to the RAM dealer for repair. They replaced my Rack & Pinion for $4,000. The second time this happened, slightly less than 1,000 miles after the Rack & Pinion replacement, I couldn't turn the steering wheel at all. Fortunately, I was on my driveway. I had the truck towed to the RAM dealer for warranty repair. If I had been driving and the steering completely locked up, it could have been fatal.

Steering is not safely operable at all You cannot steal the vehicle if you lose your power steering which is electronically controlled some of these units were recalled and they're used on several thousand trucks with this electrical system and you can't get the parts because there's so many being repaired. It's a very expensive part and if steering goes out while you're towing a camper or my case a tractor it could be very dangerous you could put your family at risk and your life at risk and others at risk. This is an ongoing problem with these trucks and it should be addressed and has been somewhat by the manufacturer for just a couple of years for some kind of contamination but it needs to be included on all these models from 13 to 19 if you study you'll see that there is several thousand trucks with steering issues that completely with no notice stop working. It's a very dangerous situation and I think they should recall it and replace it I did have to order a part it's $2,000 plus labor The dealer ship cannot get the part I had to get it from another supplier.

Truck has hardly ever been driven, , at 2,602mi smelled plastic burning for about 5 seconds when first cranked up, , this happened 2 different times, then no power steering, , warning light came on, , been PARKED, , after researching the problem of CONTAMINATION OF THE EPS MODULE, , called MY RAM DEALER won't give me an app. for 2 months to check it out, , THEY KNOW WHAT IT IS, , TY RAM

Second time in 1 year my power steering has stopped working without warning. Hopefully it will start working again out of nowhere like last time but no guarantee. Luckily I have strong arms but someone older or compromised would not be able to drive this truck. This was a recall however my 2014 was not included in it which is ridiculous because it definitely has the electrical issue stated in the recall pertaining to this issue. Please address as this can be very dangerous for people.

On Saturday Sept. 23, 2023 I was driving about 25-30 MPH and the power steering went out. I took the truck to the dealership immediately that day for diagnostics. They said the Power steering rack failed (part #68628858AA) and the part is not available. They said it is on backorder until January 2024 or possibly longer. I picked up the truck that Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2023 to sit in the drive until further notice. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. My safety and others were put at risk when driving and the power steering went out without notice. I was unable to steer the vehicle in a timely manner, or if I needed to swerve quickly would not have been able to do that. As of right now the vehicle has only been inspected by the dealership. Prior to the steering going out, There was also ABS brake warning light which I had looked at by an independent service center on Aug. 17th, 2023 who determined that I needed a new ABS brake module replace (part #68228991AD).

Steering intermittently stops working, especially when navigating turns. The steering gets stuck in the turned position. Definitely very dangerous. If I hadn't slammed on the brakes, I would have been in the woods. The power steering warning light came on, but went off when vehicle was restarted. Yet the problem persists.
